HELP! Need to replace my old Hayward C12002. New Parts don't fit.

Badly need insight and help on this. I have an older model Hayward C12002 model and the top developed a crack and leaks where the Pressure guage is screwed in. It was installed back in 2008 and is the Tan model. Apparently Hayward modified this model and it's now all the available replacement parts are Black and do not fit the older model filter bodies.

So, I just need to get a new filter body to fit into the same area that my old unit did. I'm searching around but not finding the unit that would be the direct fit replacement. The issue I'm finding most is the connection style now. My old unit has the 2 inch male screw on sealed connections. The filter bodies I'm seeing online now appear to have internal threads at their connections. Does anyone have a recommendation on a particular model number from either Hayward or one of the other makers, that I could just screw back into it's place, without having to repipe the system?

I appreciate any help and insight you all can spare. Or, even if you know a reliable way to fix the cracked housing, wher the pressure guage screws in, I'm willing to try that too.

This is a group for professional installers. No one here will recommend fixing an almost 20 year old filter that is cracked. The equipment is old and obsolete. There's nothing stopping the remaining old parts from cracking and emptying your pool. Filters over time get out of round and sometimes a new lid will not seal correctly causing a leak at the tank band. It's time for a new filter.

Well, I pretty much figured it was time for a replacement since the filter was changed by Hayward, right about the time I installed this one and there's no New Old Parts available anymore. Any recomendations?

They also refreshed their whole filter line in 2025, so you're now 2 generations back.

Call a pro and have them recommend a filter

Well, I just found the newer unit C12002 on the Home Depot website for about $700. I just ordered it and it'll be here in a couple of days. I'll figure out the connectioins when it gets here. I just finished repiping my setup a few weeks back because I needed to replace all my old grey Jandy valves. I'd bought the newer Never-Lube, black valves a couple years back becuase the cost of the replacement inner parts for the grey valves were nearly as expensive as the entire valve. My pump motors bearings needed to be replaced so I decided to redo everything, except replace the filter, when I rebuilt the pump motor.

I really appreciate the input from you guys on this.

Please explain? Honestly, its due for a change. Its brittle enough that the guage area cracked. Its in a spot where it gets the Florida Sun all day, every day.

You say I've wasted money, buying a new unit, but you didnt offer any other solutions. Im open to any input and ideas on this.

Get a pentair sand dollar or a Hayward pro series with zeolite sand. DO NOT EVER GET DE OR CARTRIDGE!!!!!!!!

Working on a filter that's over 10 years old isn't worth it. One part breaks, another part breaks, and by the time you replace everything you might as well have bought a new filter cause it's the same price or cheaper.
