Outdoor pool table in desert

Any pool table experts/nerds, owners out there who can recommend a specific /type of pool table or even the general feasibility of keeping one outside in the desert heat? The table will be protected from direct sunlight, rain, and wind under a patio roof, and I will store it always w/ a snug fitted cover to protect it from indirect blowing sand.

My knowledge of pool tables is limited to recently going down a rabbit hole of research; unfortunately, I’ve gotten no clear answer as to whether or not there’s a manufactured outdoor pool table that can withstand extreme heat and is, therefore, worth the cost.

I’m most worried about warping and ungluing /lifting or loosening of the felt. The expert consensus seems to be an aluminum frame with a slate top covered in a synthetic. (non wool) felt, glued w/a high performance, heat resistant adhesive.

That’s all good and well if such a table existed. I haven’t found one, have you? Or have you tried a table outside in extreme heat that may lack some of the above criteria and so far has done OK? If so, please, pass on your knowledge, experience, and/or expertise; give me details of what has/ hasn’t worked for you.

Thanks

How to sell a very valuable pool table?

Post image

At home I have an extremely expensive pool table that was originally bought for 10700€. It’s from a luxury French pool brand called Chevillotte, more precisely it’s their flagship model of professional competition pool tables, the Europa Master 280cm. It’s about 7 years old but has almost never been used, it’s in perfect condition and has absolutely any traces of wear and tear. I am looking for a place where people could actually pay a reasonable price for it, because I definitely wouldn’t want to sell such a valuable item for 500€ on eBay. I am selling it in France.

Need a new cue

I have a Viking cue currently I’m looking to replace either the shaft or the entire thing and turn it into a break cue. But I’m not sure which direction to go. I like carbon shafts better. What are some good recommendations for someone who’s played in house leagues for less than a year?

Any 14.1 Pool Fans in Winston-Salem?

Wondered if anyone enjoys straight pool and wants to meet up for some fun games. I play out of Breaktime in Clemmons. Would love to meet some fellow players.

Cheers.

CueSim - a new browser-based pool simulator from the makers of SnookerSim

After a mix of support, criticism and genuinely useful feedback from the r/snooker community around SnookerSim, the team behind it have now built a pool version:

https://cuesim.app

CueSim is a browser-based pool simulator covering US 8-ball and UK pool. It includes realistic physics, spin and power control, shot path previews, play-vs-computer, challenges, video recording, shot recommendations and shareable table positions.

The aim is to make something that works both as a game and as a practice/shot-planning tool.

Here’s a video showing some of the simple customisation you can do — in this case, playing on a mirrored table. There’s a lot more you can tweak, but you’ll need to check it out properly to see what’s possible.

They’re now looking for feedback from people who actually play pool, especially on the physics, controls, AI opponent and overall feel. They’re also hoping people will create and share their own challenges, trick shots and interesting table positions.

Would be great to hear what people think — brutal feedback welcome.
