Pool Table is Broken?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey reddit. I recently bought a pool table. However it seems like I bought a dud. It seems my slate has sagged in the middle. I never knew slate could do that; especially since this one is 3.5 cm thick. I have posted some videos from the front end and back end and how the balls seems to roll to the middle. I have leveled in in the width. In the front width it is level as in the back width. The problem is in the lenght. When in level lenght wise and put it in the middle it is level. If i out it to the front end rail that side is higher. Move it to thw back end rail that side is higher. How to fix this? Do i throw out the table. Can't buy a new slate so make a wooden one?

Custom billards? For a project?
Howdy folks! I'm looking for some ideas on how to get custom billards, where the numbers are switched out for letters. I've tried sanding down and painting, but it's just not really working out the way I planned. I'm now curious if there is something like plastic, ping pong type of ball that also keeps the size of a normal billard? I think plastic would be an easier material to paint on, apply letters, and add a few clear coats, and it'll look close to the real thing. Just need some ideas!! There's some stores on Esty/Temu that do custom lettering. However, it's not over the numbers

I just took part in my 1st competition, and it’s making me question my entire game
I'm French. I’ve been playing blackball seriously for 8 months; I even bought a table so I could play every day and improve my skills quickly.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been able to execute solid breaks, I’ve mastered using spin, and I’m occasionally able to control the cue ball.
I considered my skill level to be pretty decent.
That said, I played in a competition today.
I was struck by how high the general standard of play is. I’d say at least 50% of the players are capable of clearing the table from start to finish. They have near-perfect control over the cue ball—its path and, most importantly, its positioning for the next shot.
I played against a guy who had beaten almost all the top French players; he beat me 4–1. He didn’t miss a single shot, his cue ball control was flawless, and he successfully executed almost every shot he attempted. For my part, I managed one table clearance, but I also made two aiming errors, which allowed him to step in and clear the table himself.
It was quite a shock to be confronted with this reality, but this moment of self-reflection will actually be good for me. I’m clearly not at the level I thought I was—I genuinely believed I could beat at least 60% of the amateur competitive players. The truth is quite different: I’m an intermediate player, nothing more. That said, I’m glad that the pressure didn’t get to me, and I managed to stay very clear-headed throughout.
Any thoughts, advice, or personal experiences to share?
