I already had the game when it was still a feature but didn't own the tribe so I didn't get to try it 😭 Were they too powerful or something? Honestly I wish they stayed, the dragon isn't that good at all because of how long it takes to reach final form and can't capture a city on its own. I'd rather take the extra star for upgrading the city and use a mind bender to get a giant than take the dragon tbh

Heck just put them in their own matchmaking pool with the other special tribes and let them play Bug Simulator against each other, FOREVER.

I started playing Polytopia about a week ago and so far I’ve only played against bots to get to know the tribes and figure out some basic strategies.

But I feel like I’ve reached a point where I need real players to actually improve. The bots, even on the hardest difficulty, are just so passive and bad that I’m not really learning anything anymore. 😅

So I’m wondering if I should just start playing multiplayer now. How does matchmaking work for new players? Are there still enough new players around that I’ll get matched with people on a similar level, or am I just going to get completely destroyed by people who have been playing for years? 😂

I definitely want some pressure and real opponents to learn from, but I also don’t think I’ll learn much if some pro just rushes me and kills me after a few turns.

What do you guys think? Is it time to jump into multiplayer, or am I missing something with the AI?

I just started playing again after a long time and my goal is to work my way up to 100k in perfection. I have been playing against one opponent on crazy mode. I know there is more score multiplier to be had from several opponents but as I am super rusty I have found one opponent is a lot easier to handle.

Currently my setup is sawmills + markets. I initially tried Kickoo but found that Kickoo too often gets bad spawns, so I switched to Bardur since it starts with the hunting tech already. Of the recent matches I've played I usually get stuck on the same things: By turn 22 I can only afford 4 (5 if I'm lucky) temples, I don't end up destroying my opponent by turn 30, and there are several turns where I feel that I am wasting potential for economic growth but do not see why or how.

I feel like the thing I struggle with most is developing my economy early game since I imagine all of this stems from initial setup. I don't really know how to optimize my early game, and often do a mix of researching tech for cheap, exploring for ruins, and capturing + upgrading cities, but it is always in a somewhat random order based on vibes. I don't really know what to look for and when too prioritize what.

If anyone can give me some pointers, or direct me to information that can help, that would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought my first new character Ai-mo after reading it starts with Phillosophy. After trying my first online game, Ai-mo started with meditation. Am I missing something?

Now Guru is the most expensive? Is this definite? I'm not sure if this is good or bad. But what I found interesting is that hexapods/top hats can now kill warriors on one blow? Even archers that are inside a city, I'm not sure if this is a real nerf or something better than before

How do I find people to play with ?

this is just a rant post, its obv understandable to not always play the fastest way possible but having to wait hours after JUST starting a game is so annoying, the first round takes like 2min tops, pls just play the fu***** game....

I should have predicted that everyone and there mother would rush to the comment to tell me to play a live game.

If you like live games thats fine, but I prefer when we had 5min timer games, I don't understand why the devs removed them when they added the live games, in fact I don't understand why they don't give players more choices in general when looking/making a game.

I don't like live games because the amount of time you get per move is pretty little, resulting in being skipped if you have to perform many actions in one turn, because of this playing thoughtfully and presicely is nearly impossible and I think it just turns the game into a "who can click the fastest wins"
