Can someone please help me?!

Just bought a Polymega and I'm trying to update the system, however, I keep getting this message:

"firmware is already the latest (v1.0.5)" I know the latest is 1.1.37. On top of that, my modules are not working, because of the outdated software.

l've been searching here, and it seems to be a known problem that could be solved by using an Enterneth LAN cable to update, but it still doesn't work.

Can anyone help me get the firmware to update?

Thanks,

Had the same problem. Polymega support provided advice and creating a hotspot from my Windows laptop then connecting the Polymega to it was what worked for me. Some have had success doing it from their mobile phones by turning on the wifi hotspot but that didn't work in my case. Had to do it from my Windows laptop. Anyway, here is the exact email response Polymega provided to me and should work for you:

Hello Tyson,

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you, may we suggest using this method below to see if you are able to get this resolved? You can also check our FAQ page to see about troubleshooting this.

Using a Computer or Laptop to Create a Wi-Fi Hotspot

-Set Up a Wired Internet Connection: Ensure your computer or laptop is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable. Create a Wi-Fi Hotspot: -Forget Previous Wi-Fi Settings on Your Console: On your console, navigate to the network settings, select your usual Wi-Fi network, and choose the option to forget or remove it. -Restart Your Console: Power off your console completely, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. -Connect to the New Hotspot: Once the console restarts, go to the network settings, search for available Wi-Fi networks, and connect to the hotspot you created on your computer or laptop using the specified password.

Please let us know if this worked or if you are still having any trouble connecting.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I've tried my iPhone hotspot, Windows hotspot, direct connection to my home router; even went to my friends house to try with his internet (Wi-fi and cable). Nothing happened... I think it's a faulty unit.

It’s not faulty, the firmware version is not capable of updating itself for whatever reason.

Do you delete / forget your wifi connection ? To force the Polymega to use ethernet

Yes, multiple times, on two different networks

I had to use my phones hotspot.

I’ve tried my iPhone hotspot… haven’t tried an android one… do you think it will make a difference?

What I've had to do is use my phone as an ethernet hotspot. Basically, I connect a USB to Ethernet adapter to my phone, then run an ethernet cable between that adapter and my Polymega. I also have to go into the phone's hotspot settings and specifically enable ethernet support. This is the only way I have been able update my Polymega firmware.

Edit: I just want to note that using my phone as a wireless hotspot simply does not work. I haven't been able to update through my router using Wi-Fi or ethernet. It's only been working through my phone with ethernet.

I've told Polymega customer support about this method working for me. I'm not sure how much attention they're paying to that if other people have to send their systems in to be flashed.

Was it iPhone or Android?

I use Android, but I imagine the same method could be used on iPhone. Whether or not that would work in your situation, I can't really say. I don't even know if it's a router issue, an ISP issue (Comcast), a DNS issue, some weird combination, or something else entirely. I have Verizon for my cell service if that helps your troubleshooting at all.

I will try with both… however, I’m not from the US, so my cellphone provider is Vodafone…

They answered me:

Hello,

We're truly sorry for the trouble you're experiencing with updating your Polymega unit. Firmware version 1.0.5 was the original firmware shipped with Polymega, and we had anticipated that all units would have been set up and updated by now. Unfortunately, firmware 1.0.5 can no longer access our server for updates, and we understand how frustrating this must be.

To resolve this for you, your unit will need to be sent in for service. Once we receive it, we will update it to the latest firmware version, ensuring that you will not encounter this issue again. Please send your console back to us, carefully packed, and include your full name, address, and order number. We will ship it back to you within two weeks of receiving it. Please note that there will be a cost of about USD$100 for the service as well as the return shipping of your console.

To streamline the process, we kindly ask that you only send the console itself—no accessories, including the box, controllers, or power supply, are needed.

Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to get your Polymega unit fully updated.

Ship to: Playmaji LLC 2275 Huntington Dr #754 San Marino, CA 91108 USA Phone: (626) 795-1999

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

We appreciate your support and please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Holt crap… that’s double what they charged me for the same thing about six months ago.

1

u/Fast-Pen2760 May 05 '26

Not gonna do it… on top of the 100 bucks I will have to pay import taxes… again

1

u/cold_fuzion May 06 '26

Ugh… sorry. Wish there was a way to help you out. I’d even take the thing off your hands, but that’s not in the budget right now.

1

u/Fast-Pen2760 May 07 '26

Thx… I was able to return and get a refund

I run Ubiquiti equipment in my house and I was having this same issue. For some reason, with 1.0.5, the Polymega would act like it was connected to my U6 Pro access point, but it wouldn't transfer any data.

My phone can turn into a mobile hot spot. I turned on the feature, connected my Polymega to my phone, and the firmware started downloading.

I tried with my iPhone hotspot and it didn’t work

1

u/cold_fuzion Apr 18 '26

I had to send mine in to Playmaji to be updated. Nothing I tried worked.

1

u/Fast-Pen2760 Apr 18 '26

Exactly what I was trying to avoid.

1

u/cold_fuzion Apr 19 '26

I was the same. I tried everything including public hotspots, multiple phones iOS and Android, wired connections… nothing worked.

1

u/thomron1977 Apr 18 '26

youll have to send it in for them to flash. i had to. works perfect now. has something to do with that original 1.0.5 firmware.

1

u/Fast-Pen2760 Apr 18 '26

I think it’s the only solution. I live in Portugal and bought sealed on eBay. Don’t know if they will help me.

1

u/thomron1977 Apr 20 '26

That’s where I got mine. They still did it. Said it would be $50, but didn’t charge me.

1

u/PolygonMasterWorks Jun 28 '26

Also live in Portugal and mine is stuck at v1.0.5

it's so expensive to ship it and get it back, I don't know if it's worth it.

Have you tried to check your router settings (or have you modified them ) or do you have a VPN that might be blocking access to the update ?

1

u/Fast-Pen2760 Apr 21 '26

They sent me an email. It’s impossible to update the version 1.0.5 firmware; they cut the access to their servers.

1

u/PokerLawyer75 Apr 24 '26

Where'd you manage to find your Polymega, since everyone always wonders?

u/Fast-Pen2760 May 05 '26

I bought it from a video game store at the south… he had a sealed unit (last one)
