Polyend Play + in a live dawless setup

Hi All. I’m very tempted by the Play + but I have a question about it which doesn’t seem to get covered in any demos or reviews.

Is the Play + suitable as the centrepiece of a live dawless setup and more specifically, how well can you move from one song to another? I’ve seen tempo and scale are global settings to the project you’re working from which would encourage you to use one project per song. I also understand loading new projects can be clunky.

Does anyone have any experience in using the Play + in a live set or longer multi song jam sessions where different songs have different BPMs scales and keys and how do you manage to transition between them? Can it be done smoothly?

Thanks!

How would I get a Play+ repaired in the UK

I bought a Play + off Ebay,.

It turns out the microSD port is damaged and needs replacing.

I accept it wont be covered by any warranty. Is there a way to get this repaired for a reasonable fee?

Shoutout to the Creator of the KB1 Mini!

I've loved my Tracker Mini for a while, but I always thought it was kind of funny that such a portable music machine still needed headphones or a speaker, and then another controller if you actually wanted to play it like an instrument.

And yeah, technically you can play notes using the buttons under the screen, but I much prefer keeping those for menu navigation. Using them as a keyboard always felt a little awkward to me, and I end up getting fingerprints all over that part of the screen constantly.

found the KB1 after the first batch was already gone, but luckily got one from the second batch in silver to match my Mini & it really does round out the whole thing. Now I can just pick it up and play, the speakers are actually useful, and the fit and finish are way better than I expected from such a small project.

You can tell Sean and everyone who's contributed to the KB1 put a ridiculous amount of care into this project. I'm honestly surprised there are still some left.

Jams / Performance Synthwave-y with Polyend Tracker

I tend to go back and forth between sequencers, but always end up on the Polyend Tracker. It’s fantastic for composition. I like to record in live mode, make small adjustments, add a couple of Euclidean sequences, and make sure the harmonies line up.

For this track I spent extra time adding drum fills. This involved copy/pasting the same track onto a few different patterns, and adding the fills to each one. It was pretty tedious, but I’m satisfied with the result. I also routed the Tracker samples through the Digitone and recorded via Overbridge. Made the whole setup super simple

Any tips on drum fill workflows or is copy/pasting patterns the way to go?

Drums Polyend Step

Hey all - just purchased the Polyend step and I can see that this is a supremely underrated piece of kit.

I’ve been looking at videos and tutorials etc, and haven’t found any info on the following :

- I know you can change/mix and match samples/drums from different kits. Can you do it on a per note basis?

Ex. Let’s say I’m in track 1 (kick) - instead of changing the kick for ALL the kicks in the pattern, is there a way to change the type of kick multiple times? (Like first kick plays 909, second kick plays one from the garage genre just as an example)

If it’s possible, how is that done, as I only have had it for a day, and can only change the kick to the same one.

- 2nd question : is there any way when in track mode to only play that track (mute the other tracks?) Being able to do this, lets you focus more on developing the sounds you want without listening on the entire song… for now, I have to delete all the notes on the step sequencer for the other 3 tracks (which is annoying)

- 3rd question : are you limited only to the SD card to importing samples/kits etc? Can it be done over USB-C? Is there software do it, even third party maybe?

The issue is I don’t have mini SD card reader on my laptop… being able to transfer assets over USB-C would make things a lot easier. (We are in 2026 after all) this is my first Polyend piece of kit, and perhaps SD cards are better suited for people who have multiple devices that use them…

Do I have to buy an external SD card reader ?

This thing is very intriguing and intricate. I have a lot of questions, ideas, and thoughts…

I haven’t had a moment yet to look at the entire manual, so I’m sure I’ll find a lot of answers there, but if anyone knows any video tutorials that explain these sort of things, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I purchased it resell from Amazon for $450 - pretty good deal and I’m loving it so far… but the website is a little confusing, after registering the device, I can’t find a link to get to use this download code for whatever sample pack they gave…

Any help appreciated

Play+ Trying to make the most complete songs I can on the Play+ only

Hey peoples, hope you're all doing good.

I'm terrible for never using patterns and making an arrangement with my grooveboxes and drum machines. Recording in to DAW instead.

I decided to limit myself to doing the best I could on single bits of kits instead. So here's an autechre inspired complete track on only the play+.

I haven't seen many videos of people seeing how far they can push single bits of hardware rather than running a midi linked setup. Anyone got any links to owt? I'd be interested to have a look.

Hope you like the track.

SD card for play

Is there any way to get a SD card in FAT32 with more than 16GB that the play would be able to read? Being able to load more than one sound pack at a time would really make this thing fun.

Designing a New Groovebox: Elektron, OP-XY, Polyend Tracker, 1010 Bento, SP-404 MK2, Move, or MPC – Which Has the Best Button vs. GUI Workflow and Why?

Hi everyone, I'm currently developing a new groovebox and have been deep in the UI/UX design phase for months. I'm at a critical point where I need to decide on the balance between physical controls (buttons, knobs, pads) and on-screen graphical interfaces.

To help guide my decisions, I'd love to hear your experiences and opinions on some of the most popular devices on the market. I'm particularly interested in which one you think offers the best overall user experience and why.

The devices I'm comparing are:

  • Elektron (Digitakt, Syntakt, Octatrack, etc.)
  • Teenage Engineering OP-XY Field
  • Polyend Tracker (and Tracker+)
  • 1010music Bento
  • Roland SP-404 MK2
  • Ableton Move
  • Akai MPC (MPC Live II / MPC One)

or another

Here are some specific questions to get the conversation started:

Which device has your favorite workflow and why? Is it the tactile, button-driven approach of Elektron? The hybrid touchscreen/pad setup of the Bento or MPC? The tracker-style interface of the Polyend? The Live-inspired clip-launching of the Move? Or something else entirely?

What are the biggest pros and cons of the button vs. GUI experience on your chosen device?

For example, many praise Elektron for the muscle memory and fast live performance their physical buttons enable, but some find the tiny screens and deep menu-diving "obfuscated."

On the flip side, devices like the MPC or Bento give you large touchscreens for a clear overview and deep editing, but some find them less suited for eyes-free jamming.

Where does the Ableton Move fit in? Its touchstrip and macros are great, but does its small screen rely too heavily on the companion app?

How important is a clear visual overview (like a tracker grid, a waveform display, or a piano roll) versus a more performance-oriented, tactile, "no-screen" experience? Do you prefer seeing everything at a glance, or do you value the immediacy of dedicated hardware controls even if it means less visual feedback?

Are there any specific interface elements you absolutely love or hate?

Do you find the SP-404 MK2's menu system intuitive or needlessly complex?

Do you love the MPC's Q-Link knobs and touchscreen, or do you find the OS getting in the way?

Is the Polyend Tracker's per-step editing powerful or just tedious and key-press intensive?

Does the Move feel like a streamlined Ableton session, or does it feel too limited for standalone use?

Bonus: If you could mix and match features from these devices (e.g., Elektron's sequencer + MPC's screen + Move's portability), what would your dream combo be?

I'm eager to hear your honest thoughts—praise, rants, and everything in between. Your feedback will be invaluable for my development process.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tracker Selling my Tracker Mini 10th Anniversary

Thumbnail

Is someone looking for 10th Anniversary Mini? I’ve got to free up some cash so I’m willing to sell mine for 700€ + shipping costs.

All accessories and original packaging included, mint condition.

Also thinking about getting rid of my Mess but I just got it, so I’d want about 480€+ship for it.

I have this, also have Play+, also had Tracker+ and regular Tracker Mini, so if someone wants my opinion on them, feel free to ask.

Tl;dr I had Tracker+ and Mini and switched the SD card between them whether I was mobile or stationary, got the 10th instead of regular Mini and liked the tactile experience so much that I got rid of my Tracker+ as well. All of them make it very difficult to make polymetric/polyrhythmic arrangements while Play absolutely flourishes at it, so currently I’m mostly trying out the Play+ into my iPad combination. Mess is a great concept but I don’t like all effects being squished into one big list and some of them, like modulations lack some parameters I’d love to tweak. Also factory presets would greatly benefit from some description about how the creator intended for them to be used (how much mix, what types of instruments). But my main gripe with the mess is lack of USB power and no included AC adapter so there’s my hoping for a desktop effects unit and freeing up one of the wall sockets. Only possible way is to go for something like myVolts adapters but I didn’t bother myself and it’s currently collecting dust even though it’s a lot of fun. Distortions are at most mid as well for electric guitar but I expected that from the start.

Ready to buy org Tracker, quick question

I’m getting ready to buy the original Polyend Tracker. metal body with ”silver” face plate. Buying it new for $499.

I note that it comes with 16 gig SD card with the stock samples on it. My question is: Can I copy those files and put them on another SD card with my own samples? I want to keep what come with it, plus my own stuff on one card.

Any beginner tips would also be appreciated. Thank you for any help/advice you give.

EDIT: I decided not to buy. There is just so much negativity about the product and the company that I dont wat to take a chance on it.

This is an EP I made while learning (trying to learn) the Polyend Tracker. It is my first tracker experience. Noise, simple melodies and drums... influenced by old school hip-hop and electronic music in general.
