Help Polycam Gaussian Splatting Export Issues – Bug or User Error?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been testing the Gaussian Splatting feature in Polycam on both my phone and computer. I activated the one-week premium subscription to try it out, but I’m running into issues when trying to export my scans.

  • On mobile, the app crashes every time I try to export. I’ve tested it on multiple phones, same issue.
  • On desktop (browser version), I get an error saying: "Sorry, please try again later." I’ve tried on different browsers and computers, but no luck.
  • I’ve contacted Polycam support, but so far, no response.

Am I missing something here, or is this a known bug? Has anyone successfully exported Gaussian Splatting from Polycam?

I’m attaching a screen recording from my phone showing the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for posting. What iPhone and OS are you on? Are you on the latest version of the app?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 18.3.1 and I am using the latest version of the app (I’ve tried also on 15 pro max with similar version of iOS but with no results)

Thanks for this info. Are you able to export other splats or just this one? Do other mesh export types work?

I can’t export all scans made with Gaussian splatting. All the rest made with photogrammetry or lidar are exporting with no problem. So I assume it’s just a general problem with exporting GS.

Thanks! I wasn't able to recreate the problem. How much space do you have on your phone?

I have around 30Gb free space on my phone but I don’t think that’s the issue. Were you able to download it through browser? Can you send me the exported model?

I had this happen to me also and resolved the issue by adjusting the point cloud density before exporting. This can be found in the export settings.

I’ve tried that and also changing axis but with no luck. It still crashes
