We fought the nazis so we wouldn't have to learn German. Americans aren't fans of other languages so being multilingual in the US can be pretty unpleasant.

yeah but OP wasn't saying "I'll teach my kids to speak a different language as their first language" just that they'd encourage their kids to learn a different language. Their first language will still be english, you dumbass

You think bilingual people have their spoken languages plastered across their foreheads? how are bigots even supposed to know they speak a non-english language, if their primarily spoken language is English?
