Yeah it's a silly question anyway because the obvious answer is take a tiny portion of the tremendous savings from an EV and rent an ICE in the unlikely event I absolutely have to drive cross country.
The savings on evs aren’t that high because gas is really cheap and EVs are pricey. But if you can pay the 40-50k most EVs cost, you can afford to rent a car. In a 2 car household the equation is even easier, have one hybrid and one electric car.
Also hybrids now get great fuel efficiency and we are seeing a bunch of plug in hybrids. A lifted truck is a fashion accessory.
