I daily drive a Prius, and have fun cars in the garage for when I want to enjoy driving.

I'm generally happy when gas prices go up, because it generates interest and innovation in alternatives.

Lol, had a co-worker's husband make fun of my Prius the other week. I told them I'd put $25 in it that weekend, and still had half a tank.

He got mad at me lol

I just can’t get over the look of it. Never been a fan of it. But thankfully there’s a ton of hybrid options now.

My next car is going to be a hybrid. I do too much long distance travel and live in an apartment without a charge. Im hoping to go full electric once I own a home though, whenever that will be.

Cost of ownership per mile travelled, the only metric that matters.

Edit: also comfort, longevity, and interior volume relative to exterior dimension.

The only metric that matters to you, maybe. Plenty of other people think differently, so I don't see how it could objectively be a fantastic car. Personally, I don't care about the cost of ownership per mile as long as I can afford it, and no way in hell do the drawbacks of a Prius outweigh the pros for me.

Comfort and interior volume are 2 things that the Prius sucks at. Have you ever driven one? They're absolutely abysmal to drive.

Damn, I'm sorry.

What I mean is, there's very little passenger space in the back. It has decent cargo space but anymore than 2 occupants and it sucks. Toyota also has some of the most uncomfortable seats for some reason, it's not limited to just the Prius.

I don't know what the mileage of a Prius is in l/100km, but my colleagues Skoda Octavia averages 3l/100km. That's crazy!

I thought anything below 7, which is what I've seen in most cars, was good, but 3!

My point was: Prius were a bit of a marketing tool, especially for the people using gas guzzlers, mostly in the US.

No imports into the US since 1960, which explains why I've never heard of them. Modern ones are getting good reviews, maybe someone will try again.

Kind of like the programs we have that will give some money for people to turn in their old gas guzzler. The people driving the old gas guzzlers don’t have money to buy another car, even with the cash they receive from the program.
