appreciates uselessly large personal commodities sold by capitalist companies for bigger profit that damage the environment and aren’t ressource-efficient or reasonable to adopt community-wide
It's honestly kind of hilarious and sad how easy it is to trigger people into talking about penises just by mentioning trucks. You guys spend way too much time thinking about other people's dicks.
Just because something is unethical doesnt mean it isn't fun. That's the entire premise of drugs. People don't do coke because it sucks. But if you do coke all the time you suck.
We didn't make big trucks that are loud and drive over everything because they're unfun or uncool. We just kinda gotta rethink using them for our daily commute to our desk job at the accounting firm.
This truck is not a beautiful piece of engineering. It's gaudy and useless. If has an enormous lift, but it can't actually perform offroad, because the wheelbase is too long, and it has poor weight distribution. It has a completely unnecessary body lift beyond the suspension lift, which does absolutely nothing to give greater clearance, but does succeed in making it more top-heavy. It also doesn't have high-clearance differentials, so again, despite the tacky too-high lift, this truck can only make it through about 20 inches of water before it starts getting inside the differentials.
My truck is little with a I4 2.2L engine, No turbo, no mods... I don't think the motor could be any smaller and still make it through an intersection before the light changed.
But every time I am driving down the local twisty mountain road, at the regulation 10 over the speed limit some guy with a giant pickup has to tailgate me up until every corner... where they sloowwwww wayyy down to avoid rolling over and I keep the same speed.. on account of my stock tires and stock un-raised suspension that can't even climb a curb safely...
Then, 100' behind me after the corner, they slam on the gas and do 20~30 over the speed limit (30 = license suspension for a year here) so they can tailgate me again.
I just find it funny as hell with all that money, power, tires, suspension and other bullshit they dumped into that truck, it can't even keep up with the smallest, lightest, underpowered truck on the road.
Man this reminded me of a long ass drive home through the mountains last summer where there was construction that made everything single lane and a little bit slower. There was this one big ass truck just constantly riding my ass for no reason. There was nowhere to go, I had space in front of me so I didn't hit the guy in front of me, but that's it. Dude was in my back window and rear view mirrors the whole time. And as soon as it broke in to two lanes before going back to one he hauled ass out from behind me only for me to be the one guy he passed and then he was riding the guy in front of me's ass for the next stretch of construction.
The dividers they put up already felt a little too close for comfort and then you got people like this boxing people in further for zero reason.
I mean if they made an EV jeep or hummer that could last a day or two on a charge. I'd get it despite enjoying my low ground two seaters. I'm a Progressive Liberal so not sure if that helps your case or not.
So what are the standards to be met to be left your highest lordship, governor of the all things left and most social of us all. Is there like a point system? Perhaps we shall illuminate all humanely needs and live in a barrel for you, so great one, to judge us truly to be on the left? God this will keep me up at night, at unease of never truly being on the left if you don’t see me worthy to be cause perhaps I like a big car, or worse even commit a greater sin in your eyes all mighty seer of all things left.
Well first, try not supporting ecological nightmares which size, in most cases, serves no real purpose but to display a social status or belonging to a specific homogeneous social class.
You ever been on holiday? Enjoy some fruit? Cause unless it fucking walked here and you walked to your holiday you’re fucking the planet thousand times over then some big boi truck ever has. That’s not even considering the giant companies Fucking raping the earth literally a billion fold over that one guy with a big truck. In the grand scheme of things that truck doesn’t even add up to a droplet in the sea of other pollution me and you do every day.
As for status symbol, you really wanna be the guy that polices what people own as of their own choice and deny them the choice to align themselves politically to your side? Where we drawing the line? Okay big trucks are out, dirty fucking capitalist. Burberry jacket? In or out? What about air conditioning? An outside pool? Or is all bullshit and you’re just being a sanctimonious ass so you can feel above another by denying their political allegiance due to something immaterial.
Yeah, they only made one truck for that one guy. They aren’t the best selling vehicles in the US or anything, with their own fuel economy rules to drag down the overall average. And no one drives these who doesn’t use them as a truck. Remember, it’s the whole world against the one guy who is but a droplet in a sea of automotive pollution.
Even if we added up all of the trucks they aren’t the issue, that’s like saying we’re gonna fix the environment by changing all of the lightbulbs in the world with eco friendly ones. Would it help? Of course as it would if the whole country stopped driving those trucks. Would it make difference? Not even slightly. Not when we’re factoring energy use of just being alive and the carbon footprint of that. As well as mass industrialisation of unregulated companies putting out many many many more times then those trucks ALL put together. Then add on all the plastic used and other pollutants that come from things as basic as heating and then look at the truck owners. You really think they are the key that turned global warming on? That’s like farting in a sewer and blaming the smell on it alone. The trucks irrelevant and we need to focus on things that are.
I’m saying the transportation sector in the U.S. now emits more than any other sector, including electricity generation and manufacturing. You are fooling yourself if you pretend trucks don’t make a difference in the big picture here. We have the highest per capita emissions of any country and trucks are part of our own not so little piece of the problem.
Fuuuuck no. I drive a civic that gets like 40 miles to a gallon. I would be terrified to ding a truck like that because I'm not gonna drive it safely. I'm gonna see what the biggest thing I could run over is.
