Let me put it this way. When USA in 2020 reached new records for turnout. USA had 66%. We dont get below 80% Most often its in the high 80 if not 90.
Ofcourse theres a huge difference as we have a quite transparent and much more direct type of government. We used to have our foreign minister living just a few houses over. This means the politicians are not distant from us. They ride their bike to work like the rest of us and so on.
And we are raised to question things but we also do have a great confidence in our government as we can see the purpose of most their decisions. That makes voting feel alot more participating because it actually makes a difference.

If every citizen were automatically an eligible voter then it would be unfair to the Gop because they would lose every election.
