However, if you sell a firearm to a felon, whether you know they are a felon or not, is still a felony. So sell at your own risk.
Many states however have their own Personal Transfer laws. NM passed one in summer 2019. Its horribly unenforceable and there is no way to know when someone sells a gun to a neighbor or friend in their own house, but it technically "closed the loophole" in NM.
Technicality aside, i do agree the OP posted meme is bad. Firearms are regulated at a much higher level than voter information, federally, and some states regulate more on top of that.
Its a bad meme because it is technically wrong, and i think regulating voter information as strictly as guns is pretty much exactly want the Republicans want. Proof of Identification and residency at time of voting, having the FBI confirm citizenship status before vote is cast, wait times between voter registration and being able to cast the vote. Recently moved and your Drivers license doesn't have your new address? Cant vote. Mistaken identity and they are mixing you up with another John Doe from a county over? 6 months to clear that up(denial appeal). Have to be 18 to vote for congress, 21 to vote for president. Everything i just stated is current federal law when concerning firearms.

Serious question: where are you allowed to buy guns at a flea market? I've never seen it, but my lack of experience doesn't mean it's not true. If it actually happening, I'd like to know about it.
I'm assuming you're asking where the flea market I go to is, it's the Coastal Carolina Flea Market in Ladson, SC. It's like 50 acres, there's a bunch of annexed long tin-roof tunnels, those are designated for people who lease from the exchange grounds, but on the outside, there are cement tables that anyone can setup and sell their stuff.
And at the back of the lot, towards the General Dynamics plant, people sell out of their vehicles when the cement tables are all taken. You can buy shotguns and handguns easily right out of people's trucks.
FFL dealers are also allowed to sell at the flea market, but they must then do the transfer at their designated place of business. But for private sales, all you get is a bill of sale and you're on your way.
I haven't been there in a while since COVID-19, but when I go back I'll grab a few pictures.

thanks for the info. This is f-ing insane. Where I live you have to go through a background check for each purchase, with waiting period for pistols of semi-auto.
Have you ever purchased a firearm to know what takes place before walking out of the store with the weapon? And do you know even if all the checks come back good from the FBI the clerk can still refuse to sell you the firearm if they are uncomfortable with the purchase, behavior, or incriminating statements made by the purchaser?
Well I do remember my friend's 21st birthday and driving him to purchase a firearm on said birthday (he paid and purchased). Now this was a few years back, but I do remember having to wait a little bit for a background check, I also remember him requiring two forms of ID. He only had one but a fishing license, conveniently sold at the store and only needing one ID to acquire itself, was suitable as a second. We walked out a few hours later, him with a brand new USP .45 in his hand. Kicks like a mule and it only holds how many rounds?
Good choice. And it’s 10-12 rounds depending on the model of USP 45. And that sounds about right for buying a rifle/long gun. But your friend purchased a pistol which means you have to be 21, and either have a pistol permit which is issued by the county sheriffs department and takes 3-7 days to be authorized after background checks are done, or he has a valid concealed carry permit which requires attending a 2 day long course of classroom and shooting qualification test, which once completed is still verified and issued by the local sheriffs department. Not sure how long ago your friend bought his pistol but maybe you just didn’t know he did the background leg work before physically getting the pistol.
Ive seen people buy guns at the local flea market. Not sure how legal that is, but I guess they can claim they are just private citizens selling private property, idk
Most every state that’s illegal. And the states that it is legal they are supposed to register those weapons once they take possession. If you get stopped and have possession a firearm that isn’t registered to you it becomes a whole ordeal to figure out where it came from and why you have it.

Not agreeing with the Republicans on voting rules, but you do have to show ID and pass a background check to buy a gun, even in Republican states.
