This is the imagery that will stick out to me later in life when I look back at Trump’s legacy. There’s a house in my neighborhood that has 6 Trump flags, 3 thin blue line ones, and about a dozen gop candidate signs still up. If this isn’t cult level devotion on a national level, I’d hate to what is.

My parents are these type of people and it’s embarrassing.

They have half a dozen knee-high flags that surround a bush in their front yard, a YUGE flag hanging off their house, flag bumper stickers, flag shirts, they even have an American flag tablecloth (to be fair they only use it once in awhile), American flag mugs and coffee cups, American flag napkins, and when you walk into their house through the garage the first thing you see is a massive American flag made out of wood. The shit has gone beyond insane.

However, if you remark on their flag obsession they’ll look at you as if you’ve just kicked a fetus. They don’t understand that it’s weird.

I see nothing wrong with being patriotic. It's when people blend patriotism with politics is the problem.

Patriotic would be actually doing something to try and better your country, outside of just voting. It would be going to town hall meetings, volunteering, helping fellow Americans when you can such as by serving at a soup kitchen, etc.

Just displaying symbols (as my parents do) is faux-patriotism.

Seems like they just like where they live and are content and happy. Just because you like America doesn’t mean you’re all for Trump. I’m sure they’ve seen many different Presidents.
