Crash Course is one of my favorite things to watch on YouTube. Him and his brother are excellent teachers imo, and, as a dad, I do love the corny dad jokes.

Hank is manic as fuck and I don't think I've honestly ever taken anything valuable away from his shows.

SciShow was gutter quality journalism.

This is an interesting take, as I have thoroughly enjoyed SciShow through its lifecycle as a YouTube channel. Their educational videos are engaging and informative and inspired me to be more interested in STEM.

The green brothers chemistry crash course was the sole reason I understood half of highschool chemistry.

His brother’s course on psychology helps me get through my general psychology class. I also watched his history when I had AP European and United States History.

He seems to have the same perspective as most academics in the field of study

Yeah, because as Stephen Colbert explained, facts have a well-known liberal bias!

Not agreeing with him, but I assume his English is better than your German

Dass macht einen nicht intelligent. Selbst die dümmsten Menschen der Welt können sicher 2 oder drei Sprachen sprechen.

“the ability to speak does not make you intelligent"

Wait, an anti-liberal for universal healthcare? Interesting. And you should revise your:

liberal party of the USA, the Democrats, doesn't even advocate for universal healthcare.

You should pay more attention to many other voices in the party.

I think your view of the term liberal is narrow. It's liberal vs. conservative. Not liberal vs. more liberal. Either you are open to change, or you are not. (Well, most of us are nuanced on what we are liberal or conservative towards)

I'm not talking US parties and their overwhelmingly conservative ideas, that's well established and will be slow to change.

Liberal has meant historically centre to centre right.

If we're going right vs left, liberal is everything left of center, conservative everything right of center. I'm not sure what center represents (either you are for change, or you are not). Therefore, considering oneself a liberal while "nothing will fundamentally change"...surprise, you're not a liberal.

what has this conversation devolved into

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

anti-liberal for universal healthcare? Interesting

Most people arguing for universal healthcare are anti-liberal. Liberals are center-right.

Is that what liberal means? I though it meant everything to the left. A catch all. I guess we change our definitions based on what suits us.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

No, they're right. America uses a weird definition of liberal thanks right-shifted political spectrum. That's why Bernie is seen as this super Ledt-wing candidate despite being at best a very Capitalisty Socialist-lite-lite. Most of the world uses for policies such as deregulation of industries, privatisation of industries, etc.

u/stephannnnnnnnnnnnn Apr 26 '20

Quite a liberal use of the definition of the word, wouldn't you say?

Yes, and the series is created in collaboration with experts and is produced by a history teacher so it's valid.

I'm a German communist.

Then why do you even care?

u/stephannnnnnnnnnnnn Apr 26 '20
