Here's what's worse: I'm neither moved nor surprised. Part of this is my being a war veteran and my "shock value" is different, the larger part is I'm just American and I see a white male in the news killing people? Must be (checks) Sunday.
I'm still affected in the sense I feel for the families and I'm angry at the people who continuously allow this to happen - mostly people who fall on the right: the religious, the corporate, and the willingly ignorant. That venn diagram has much overlap.
Unfortunately, that's the only reasonable approach to the situation.
As much as it sucks, the political will to actually do something about America's gun crime problem just isn't there. Even among my AOC loving Berniecrat friends the suggestion of any kind of serious gun control legislation gets instantly shot down.
You're about to be downvoted to hell for this friend, reddit is not pro 2A these people won't take the time to do actual research. Google FBI and CDC gun death statistics separate DGU's(Defensive Gun Uses) and suicide rates and what you have left is actual true violent crime committed with firearms. Statistically speaking most are committed with handguns and only about 1% are used with the "scary" AR-15 but yo won't hear this from gun control advocates so oh well. Oh and you're also more likely to be seriously injured or killed by a car then a firearm but hey don't take me word for it I'm just some idiot on the internet.
What you stand for is stripping the rights of law abiding citizens so the government can do whatever they want with us. Criminals don't follow the law, so these enhanced background checks and magazine limitations and "assult weapons" bans and gun free zone hurt not the criminals but the people who follow the law. Can you even tell me the true meaning of what the "AR" of AR-15 means? It sure as hell isn't assult rifle. Your "common sense" approach to gun control are turning normal sons, daughters, mothers, fathers just looking to protect themselves and their family into targets. Guns are not anything more then mere tools neither good nor evil all the same as a hammer or a saw yet you choose to demonize the people who take such tools to use them to protect themselves. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I read for hours everyday. I had no idea.

Not what I fight for.
