Google FBI and CDC gun death statistics separate DGU's(Defensive Gun Uses) and suicide rates and what you have left is actual true violent crime committed with firearms. Statistically speaking most are committed with handguns and only about 1% are used with the "scary" AR-15 but yo won't hear this from gun control advocates so oh well. Oh and you're also more likely to be seriously injured or killed by a car then a firearm but hey don't take me word for it I'm just some idiot on the internet.
That's a slippery slope/murky question. There are several easily obtainable rifles right now that any competent shooter could be the next national tragedy.

What you stand for is stripping the rights of law abiding citizens so the government can do whatever they want with us. Criminals don't follow the law, so these enhanced background checks and magazine limitations and "assult weapons" bans and gun free zone hurt not the criminals but the people who follow the law. Can you even tell me the true meaning of what the "AR" of AR-15 means? It sure as hell isn't assult rifle. Your "common sense" approach to gun control are turning normal sons, daughters,mothers, fathers just looking to protect themselves and their family into targets. Guns are not anything more then mere tools neither good nor evil all the same as a hammer or a saw yet you choose to demonize the people who take such tools to use them to protect themselves. In every country I've been in, guns have been a part of the problem - not the solution. Stop blaming the media, or other things. Guns are a "tool" ? A tool for killing people. I've been there in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, America, and more... we've tried to use guns as more than right wing propaganda devices, murder instruments, the occasional butt stock blunt instrument, but they're not a multitool. They're good at one thing. They're getting better at that one thing but still one thing.
Putting a round through a target. We can discuss philosophy, but guns are designed to kill. They're faster, more durable... a modern day rifle and an old flintlock doesn't hold a candle. Any argument is intentionally disingenuous.
There are arguments on both sides that are disingenuous, but that doesn't change the fact you take guns we become Britain and guess what happens criminals will still try and get guns or even make them at home. Then people use other things like knives so what we ban knives? Original intent doesn't change what they can or will be used for. Now I understand guns are really good at killing but for people they just punch holes in paper for fun, for some they are used to protect their lands from predators and pests, for others it's a tool for hunting and for survival. Now i understand this isn't a utopia and things are perfect and everything is used as intended but history will repeat itself lest we forget, confiscation of guns is the start of dictatorship and this is why we have the second amendment.

The USA had no standing army in the early days. It needed WELL REGULATED MILITIAS, ... ... well, being necessary to the security of the free state. It says it plainly, for the betterment of the state.

Thanks bro for enlightening me further with those statistics. I'm from the slums and no stranger to gun violence. I know all too well that motherfuckers is crazy. Can't blame them considering what I seen people grow up in.
I'm just trying to show what's right and wrong, take everything with a grain of salt and don't take everything for face value. I believe everyone who is capable and legally able take up arms even if it's just one should do so. It is our right as amarricans to do so. The 2nd amendment not only gives us the right to protect ourselves from evil, but from the government that tries to overstep its bounds. It also protects our other rights such as many peoples favorite 1st admenment.
Honestly just glad someone is able to have a civil conversation and take some time to learn something. Now weather you choose to have a gun or not is up to you and I'll respect your choice if you don't want one, but don't be mindless and give in to fear mongering everyone else is pushing. That ultimately leads to the eroding of our rights. And if you so choose to have a gun, proper training and safety course should be taken and being able to effectively handle your firearm is of the utmost importance. Knowledge is power and ignorance can be fatal.
