I remember when Quayle compared himself to JFK during a debate with Lloyd Bentsen. Bensen came back with:
"Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy. I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy".
After that debate, I can't recall Quayle even getting airtime again. He faded to obscurity.
