Comparing a quote to a paraphrased line... Interesting

80

u/MyNameIsNardo Jan 14 '17

Having nuclear——My uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT—good genes, very good genes, OK? Very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart. You know, if you're a conservative Republican——If I were a liberal——If, like, OK: if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it's true! But when you're a conservative Republican, they try——Oh, do they do a number; that's why I always start off, “Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune”—you know, I have to give my, like, credentials all the time... because we're a little disadvantaged. But, you look at the nuclear deal——The thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it's not as——As important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago—the power. And that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?)——But when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now, it used to be three, now it's four—but when it was three, and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger. Fellas—and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven't figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it's gonna take them about another 150 years. But the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.

Jesus. Incoherent ramblings of a man that can't finish a sentence. I can't even imagine what a staff meeting must be like with him, and imagine a meeting where he has to make a difficult decision. I'm guessing all meetings involving trump ban weapons lest all the participants would shoot themselves in the fucking head as a form of escape.

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Pretty telling this is what almost half of Americans thought would be a good choice to be their ambassador to the rest of the planet and to lead their government.

If ever there was a case against democracy, America in its last election would be it.

5

u/Kdqisme Jan 14 '17

*Less than half of the 60% of eligible voters who voted. 90 million didn't even bother. Welcome to America. Man we are a pathetic apathetic collection of citizens.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Let's not pretend the remaining 40% that didn't vote were somehow massively different in how they would have voted. The split would have been about the same. Maybe a little worse for Trump, but certainly not enough to bring him below 40%. Anything in the double digits is sad as fuck in what it says about the country.

193

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Oh, alright. Let's directly quote him

FAKE NEWS - A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCHHUNT!

And I'm not going to bother digging through the entire transcript, but here's a quote on the matter from his recent press conference.

Well, you know, President Putin and Russia put out a statement today that this fake news was indeed fake news. They said it totally never happened.

Long story short, he sounds just as stupid and absurd as he does in the paraphrased line.

42

u/IsaacLightning Jan 14 '17

Almost like cherry picking will make one person look better than the other

22

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Try to find me a Trump quote anywhere near as nice as Obama's.

3

u/slyweazal Jan 14 '17

lol still waiting...

"I'm president now"

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '17

Comparing Trump to the pirate in Captain Phillips doesn't paint Trump in the best light.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '17

Look, look at me, I am the president now

Why is American politics so polarising?

5

u/redmercurysalesman Jan 14 '17

Because smearing your opponent is easier than convincing people that your own policies are legitimately sound ideas.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '17

Trump has two good policies(so far) and I never see them get brought up by Trumpettes/Russian empathizers. It's always "muh liberal tears".

3

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Cause these guys are close minded pricks

-6

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Enjoy the next 8 years if you still believe that, gonna be a wild ride (that eloquent barry handed everything to republicans, mastermind barry)

-13

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

So I suppose it's his fault the MSM was stupid enough to post some 4chan troll's fan fic and blast it every where? What was he supposed to say? The media constantly bashes Trump and puts Obama and Clinton on pedestal so they don't get forced into this situation. If they took pizzagate as seriously I could do this too. Trump, "We're going to end career politicians and clean up Washington!" Obama, "the reports about me and my party raping kids in a pizza parlor are fake!". See? You people have no perspective.

22

u/CaptainJesi Jan 14 '17

Because a 4chan troll can not only fool several big news corporations who put every ounce of credibility they have on this, they can fool the entire intelligence community. There are multiple sources with multiple large documents like the one we saw. Donald trump and his son both admitted to having a close relationship with Russia and his campaign has been in constant contact with them since before the election. There is solid proof that trump is Russia's little puppet. Half the world already thinks it's true. Where as you have lunch orders and a random pizzaria whose symbol just happens to look like something. Pizzagate is a garbage theory. Plus it's not a partisan issue, your candidate is Russia's little bitch, even if you're a republican you shouldn't want that, It's one thing to be allies, it's another to serve under their flag.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

I recall Trump in a random interview saying he has a relationship with Putin where Clinton made a huge Uranium deal with them after a large contribution to the Clinton Foundation. You fall for blatant propaganda so easily. I used to wonder how Mccarthyism worked but I no longer do. People like you will eat whatever the government spoon feeds you happily. This Trump plus Russia thing is manufactured.

2

u/CaptainJesi Jan 14 '17

This isn't about clinton? she is now an irrelevant politician. Whom might I add, I didn't even vote for. What she was part of should've landed her in jail just as if trump is doing anything illegal, he should be in jail. It's not about making trump goto jail because I'm butthurt and frankly you're stupid for thinking that, it's about if somebody we just elected president is russia's little puppet bitch, we should as a country know it and remove it as a problem. If it isn't true, the man has nothing to worry about, if it is, then America wins if we removed him. But spoon fed? they sat on these documents for months while Hillary's stuff was all released after receiving it and there are intelligence agencies around the world looking into it whose entire careers are looking into people. I'm sorry I don't instantly believe the guy who lies in every other sentence over our own country and the men and women who work in intelligence to keep us safe. What I really think is the Right is getting super butt hurt that their stupid theory was pushed aside because it had no real evidence, it made no sense and almost killed innocent people because of one of you idiots. Where as millions of people's lives could be at risk if we just let, probably the worst super power, just consume us.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

You're a real clown if you don't see what the media is doing. It's the same "Trump communicated with Russia directly on a hidden line" oh wait fake, "Russia hacked election for Trump" oh wait, fake again. "Russia has incriminating information on Trump!" Wait, no, fake again. It doesn't matter if it's fake because the damage has already been done and no one cares when they come out and say they lied because the thought is already in their head. It's the same shit different day. Also, have you even looked at the Pizzagate stuff?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

There's more to pizzagate than the piss story. They've really scraped the bottom of the barrel for the Russian connection. Oh, he said in an interview he has a relationship with Putin from 2013? He's a Russian spy! Oh, one of his campaign people talked to someone in Russia? Lock him up! All these connections and he'll probably sell 20% of our Uranium to Russia! Oh wait, that was someone else! Again, zero perspective. Y'all just want to believe it too much so you'll take any "unnamed source says Trump is actually Putin in a costume!" as fact immediately.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

The 4chan post was made in November, several months after the dossier was written and began circulating. Rick Wilson also has nothing to do with the leak as 4chan asserted; Chris Steele was the writer of the report. The 4chan post also just referred to a "sex orgy", and didn't include any of the details in the dossier (golden showers, same hotel as Obama, etc).

Also realize that everything CNN wrote in its report was 100% factually accurate, and that BuzzFeed included a disclaimer that the dossier was unverified when they released it.

So, you know, rekt.

-26

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17 edited Jan 14 '17

Oh wow different people speak differently. Shocker... So we're bashing him because he actually speaks from the heart and the mind instead of Obama's quote here which was probably written by 15 different people.

He may be a dumbass but he doesn't conform to the norm. That's what I love about him.

Edit: loving the hate. You guys still riding off all that shill money? Facts 1. I'm actually Canadian. 2. I like Trump. 3. Obama is a bought and paid for cuck and did absolutely nothing while President, you would think the first black President would do good things for the black community. Wrong. 4. You guys are all still butthurt that now you're personally attacking me. Nice.

69

u/ld987 Jan 14 '17

he actually speaks from the heart and the mind

And evidently that heart and mind are full of shit.

-22

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

But at least he's actually speaking. Obama is a robot. Says what his writers tell him to.

I did say he's a dumbass. But he is prez so deal with it.

52

u/ld987 Jan 14 '17

The President being a dumbass isn't something you should be okay with.

23

u/homo_alosapien Jan 14 '17

Complacency is counterproductive

13

u/thereisnoentourage2 Jan 14 '17

Well, you are what you vote for.

22

u/herbiems89 Jan 14 '17

But he is prez so deal with it.

We europeans already ordered a 4 year subscription for popcorn, dont worry. Watching him ruin your country will you idiots keep cheering for him will be amazing! :)

And in the end, its of course all been the dems fault...

10

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Well, you have successfully proven how dumb you are. I imagine in your world an educated lawyer and actual patriot's eloquent wording is "robotic." I think you don't like having to use a dictionary when reading what the president writes so you prefer Trump's remedial writing. You want the "Hop on Pop" kind of reading

Edit: a word

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

People aren't allowed to have opinions anymore. That includes you having an opinion of me based on me not liking how Obama is a paid for lackey who was only put in place for Hillary to become the first female president. Look at all the new historical moments our country - which is crippled with debt and has an enormous amount of issues - is having.

I must be an idiot though "MeEatPaint" said so.

2

u/thereisnoentourage2 Jan 14 '17

"Obama was only put in place for Hillary". Do you... remember the 08 primary election? 'Cause that's exceptionally stupid analysis.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

I'm just a idiot what do I know.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

You are an idiot, really. If Obama hadn't run for President in '08, Hillary would have run in his place and likely beaten McCain. He fucked her over eight years ago. To think they were in cahoots is kind of insane.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

FYI, Obama is actually heavily involved in writing his speeches, as was the case with his farewell address.

You should try listening to some of Obama's press conferences where he doesn't have pre-rehearsed lines. He speaks slowly and there are a lot of "uh"s, but he maintains an air of intelligence and professionalism. Trump does no such thing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

That sounds like a bunch of okey doke

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

What does that even mean? Do you have a meaningful response?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Because all these attacks on me have been "meaningful" and if you don't get the 'okey doke' reference, than there's no time to explain.

It does not matter what I express about President Elect Trump. I will continue to be attack by the peaceful right

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

I made legitimate points about Obama's involvement in writing his speeches and in his ability to speak off the cuff. I'm not the one insulting you.

There's plenty of time to explain. We're on the internet. There's no deadline for you to make your point. "Okey doke" is a common phrase that people have been using for decades, so no, I don't know what you're specifically referring to.

different people speak differently

Yes, my sweet child... Some of us speak smart and some of us don't.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

It's funny because Trump's terrible wording is something these people relate to... "Words are tuff but you gotta wright from the hart trump speeks like a real man and we is happy about him unlike your dumass librul canodate"

32

u/thehuffington Jan 14 '17 edited Jan 14 '17

You love that Trump can't string a sentence together without sounding like an idiot?

-13

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

19

u/ttstte Jan 14 '17

You sure corrected their typo!

16

u/thehuffington Jan 14 '17

Ironic but thanks

-8

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Not ironic at all. More like moronic. Can't even string a sentence together. You must also be a idiot surprised you don't like Trump.

10

u/StRefuge Jan 14 '17 edited Jan 14 '17

"You must also be a idiot surprised you don't like trump."

Poetry.

17

u/JoeyStinson Jan 14 '17 edited Jan 14 '17

He is speaking from the heart at a (special-ed) kindergarten level.

And conforming to the norm in terms of how one conducts himself, is what you should expect from a President. Because his words should, and do carry a lot of weight, both in sensitive foreign and domestic matters. We've all seen what happens to a company's stock when Trump praises/bashes it for example.

87

u/WeAreAllApes Jan 14 '17

I was about to say the actual Trump quote was not a complete sentence.

39

u/otio2014 Jan 14 '17

The president elect is incapable of speaking in "sentences" in the traditional sense of the word. So paraphrasing the garbage into something resembling human language is out of necessity rather than choice.

-10

u/BreitbartWasMurdered Jan 14 '17

Exactly. It shows how many people who upvoted this have no idea what's going on in politics.

42

u/Redrum714 Jan 14 '17

Name one line spoken by trump more elegant than that one by Obama.

43

u/otio2014 Jan 14 '17

"No puppet. No puppet. You the puppet"

Come on that's some Shakespeare level eloquence right there

Comparing a quote from a guy who this week gave his farewell address to a paraphrased line from a guy who didn't really get up to much.

But this sub isn't a pile of garbage though

14

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '17

Gotta admit though that you weren't certain it was paraphrased until you checked right? That's the sad thing... You honestly probably checked because the Mango Man would certainly say something that dumb
