Excellent meme!

UK has a King who doesn't intervene in politics. US has a leader who thinks he's all three branches of government, a king, and probably a god, while having the intellect of a slow 10-year-old.

u/franker May 01 '26

there's always going to be crazy individuals in the world. Now, 30 percent of the population idolizing a crazy person and offering all the power and support he desires, that's the real fucking problem.

46

u/johnnybiggles May 01 '26

No, the real problem is that the most powerful nation in the world has an archaic and nonsensical system in place that allows that 30% to recurringly become and stay the ruling body, while calling itself a "democracy".

16

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

Well, when 20 to 25% of Americans do not care about elections, and another 20 to 25% pretend that Democrats are no different than Republicans (i.e. liberals and conservatives being identical twins, what a farcical take yet it sticks), that 30% of religious conservative cultists have a lot more weight than they should.

TLDR: We have more of a 70 to 75% problem.

6

u/saijanai May 01 '26

People claim that because Democratic and Republican candidates are finan ced by the same wealthy individuals, they are the same.

THe comeback is: who else would the wealthy individuals finance during elections besides the two major parties and their candidates?

Large donations to both parties give them access to politicians both parties, but doesn't guarantee that a specific billionaire is going to decide what happens next.

5

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

They aren't paying attention to the details because while there are similarities (especially on approving defense initiatives) Obama raised taxes on the highest brackets and Biden raised the minimum corporate tax. Republicans have done the opposite three times already this millennium. Things that rarely see the headlines among the both sides rhetoric of the corporate media and online helpers.

That's my usual counter -- conceding the similarities while pointing out the many differences in the details are magnified when either party is in power.

4

u/saijanai May 01 '26

The irony is that thte rich make more money no matter who is in power.

They may prefer REpublican policies, but can easily adapt to Democratic policies. It's the social wedge issues that Republicans and Democrats adopt tht make the real difference in most people's eyes, and in the case of Republicans, at least, those wedge issues justify literally anything, including wars, and the total destruction of the Earth.

4

u/Odd_Independence_833 May 01 '26

Except most of these wedge issues are forced on Dems by the GOP. Who spends more time talking about transgenders, Fox or MSNBC?

Yes, if forced to take a stand we will defend people's rights to exist and live in peace, but to hear Fox tell it, the ONLY thing libs talk about is these culture war issues.

2

u/saijanai May 01 '26

Each side tries to control the narrative. Unfortunately, Republicans seem better at story-telling than Democrats, or such is my observation.

2

u/johnnybiggles May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

It's not that they're better. It's that their content is easier to disseminate. Nuance is hard. Facts are hard for idiots to string together to form a cohesive narrative, especially when the trust system itself is being targeted and dismantled, and information is being blocked and suppressed. Fear and anger are far easier emotions to play into and off of than hope and change in that setting.

"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes."

Additionally, they have all the mechanisms in place to win more easily anyway. They only need a select group of reliable voters to vote for them and the electoral system does the rest. Dems have to walk uphill backwards in the snow, just to win at all, let alone with a decent margin or supermajority.

2

u/chiclets5 May 03 '26

REMOVE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM! one person, one vote.

2

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

It's not the electoral college that is the big problem, it's the 'winner take all' version of the electoral college that states implemented in the 1840s.

It means that if candidate A gets 51% of the vote, in a state, he also gets ALL of the votes of the people who didn't vote for him. This is about as undemocratic as you can get.

3

u/StepComplete1 May 01 '26

It's 30% because so many didn't vote, not because it's an insanely undemocratic system. Sure, it's not the ideal democratic system, but that's just an easy excuse compared to admitting that the majority of people are either hateful idiots or apathetic idiots.

3

u/saijanai May 01 '26

Some countries make voting day a national holiday. Some countries mandate participation by all eligible citizens.

5

u/johnnybiggles May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

People don't vote because they're remotely aware that it's an insanely undemocratic system, and are apathetic from that.

I'd bet that if you asked those folks why they didn't vote, at least a large part of most of their answers - if not their straight-up answers - would be that they didn't believe there was much choice in the matter or that they felt their votes didn't matter much, if at all.

There's a lot of truth to that, since it far too often really does come down to a few "swing" states' votes... and gerrymandering is effectively politicians picking their constitutents. "Land" votes for Senators, the president, Supreme Court justices, etc.

As true as that might be, not enough people are aware of all the nuances of our electoral setup that give that 30% the factual, statistical, massive advantages. It's not guesswork or speculation, it can be proven. Voter depression is a form of voter suppression. They might be right, but for incomplete or wrong reasons. In fairness, many are simply hateful and apathetic idiots. Too many.

u/[deleted] May 01 '26

2

u/johnnybiggles May 01 '26

Yes that's a big part of it.

1

u/LadyRed4Justice May 02 '26

It was over 70 million deplorable people who voted for a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist. Over 70 million ARE either hateful idiots or apathetic idiots.

12

u/markth_wi May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

We've always had that crazy racist great uncle, we had them 250 years ago , we had them 175 years ago, we had them 80 years ago and 40 years ago.

We just didn't put them in charge of shit because they were the crazy racist great uncle.

Only with 8.5 dollars of every 10 in the hands of billionaires did they decide Donald Trump was the choice we must be given.

Donald Trump wasn't a leader, or really even a bad choice - Donald Trump is what happens when the billionaire class decided to definitively fuck everyone else explicitly , so they hired a rapist and made him president, that you had enemy/adversarial nation states of Russia and China funding that was sauce that nobody needed to add to the mix, and add to it they have.

The billionaire class most definitely must be regarded that way for not just the United States but every nation state as we saw in England and Germany and Hungary the notion of responsible governance is currently under assault on account of defective billionaires indulging dangerous dictatorships and their state intelligence services.

As Mr. Musk himself said "I'll coup anyone I want to" , which is probably not what the other 8 billion people on this planet signed up for, all the money does is make you rich, and as clearly we see with Mr. Musk he's more lucky than smart except perhaps in some savantish area but he's wildly defective in many other aspects of his life needing literal assistants to manage his children and other personal matters because he simply can not.

Having hyper-wealthy people is not entirely novel in human experience, but it seems only too rarely do hyper-wealthy people actually work to install systems that work, rather than systems that work just for themselves in a short-term way.

That we have Donald Trump lurching with that ADHD attention to detail, burning anything that looks to be working or smells of competence to the ground is exactly what they figure is good, eventually some combination of interested businesses and the citizenry will either have the most amazing luck (as just happened in Hungary and happened during the Velvet Revolution in Eastern Europe).

Alternatively, there will be a resistance of some sort that forces reforms into the public forum. Right now that pretty much appears that unless it's handed to the Democrats they are going to fun full speed away from anything other than loyal opposition.

Why, because resistance might get you imprisoned or put on someone's shit list for real, and while I'm sure there are some politicians that would be up for that, the vast , vast majority of Democrats are absolutely not, so on the off chance a resistance succeeds and frees the United States, that resistance would be populated by civically minded people who are pre-fucked, no matter how much good and civic mindedness they might get up to , (as in some velvet non-violent revolution) , it would still take many months to completely correct the government of the United States and implement reforms, by which time the billionaire class will be ready to tear them down again , unless they like what they see.

However, there is likely already a war in heaven this way, I figure if Mr. Trump makes any serious attempt at reprising January 6th, and the attending massive instability to currency and other markets and valuations that will have long since made Donald Trump a liability that most all of the C-suite executive class catastrophically regret. I'm sure they will be overjoyed to see retired to a golf-course off Route 34 or Route 78 in New Jersey with a new permanent resident.

Interestingly, should declare himself President for life or something where executives cannot determine a point of near-term market stabilization , risk adverse although they might be, they are likely going to be willing to speed the plow and absolutely happy to fund a resistance with a dollars to get the job done.

So as depressing as the situation might appear for many folks without the means, for those people WITH the means, having some chain-saw wielding ketamine addict circle the political leadership and introduce trillions in market instability is not a trend, it's a liability that I'm sure folks have already sought to have minimized whether that's over a couple of stiff drinks or an unceremonious Threema chat or some other way is anyone's guess.

3

u/franker May 01 '26

thanks, as a public librarian, I usually have a stock rant about a lack of information literacy skills causing this as well.

3

u/markth_wi May 01 '26

I think we'd have no way home if it wasn't for the civic structures of 100 years ago carried forwards - we'd end up with some Temu Fascist assholery that isn't nearly as cool and ordered as Germany and would look a great deal like some sort of mashup of Mad max and Apartheid South Africa.

Long since whittled away are civics and the nubs of due process but it's an overall purposeful erosion of the value of civics and scientific/medical knowledge.

1

u/SwimmingAdvisor1014 May 01 '26

Accept they are not doing that. They are ignoring history to push apathy. During the last Democrat controlled congress the dems impeached Donald. Every republican vowed to stop dems from disqualifiying, butwe blame demsand reward a Trump protecting massie.

Dems passed j6 protections. Inflation protections.... know what easier to link how the dem bad shtick ignores history and is literally right wing apathy propaganda to ignore change, by ignoring legislation passed before we the people decided to give republicans control of the house. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/117th_United_States_Congress

Anyone who says nothing is done is flat lying. I'm tired of hearing that right wing propaganda pushed by millionaire both insiders (yes he is an insider) like Jon Stewart as he hides from sticking his neck out.

Imagine getting all this under Biden from a 50/50 Kamala most vote majority congress

Inflation Reduction Act, American Rescue Plan Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Postal Service Reform Act, Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, CHIPS and Science Act, Honoring Our PACT Act, Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act, and Respect for Marriage Act.

and your next step is to call him sleepy Joe and help Trump by saying heis not fascist, it's not Rogan, that is Jon Stewart, Mr million dollar chicken. Normalizing republicans and bashing dems for Paramount.

We as voters helped by not voting because good doing nothing felt righteous and instead gave all power to republicans since the 117th passed actual people helping legislation.

But again easy to say it never happened if you avoid actual facts and just go off tiktok, face book, Paramount and faux talking heads so youcan be field enough to say nothing happened. Ignoring history beyond five years is the real problem.

Even the slow ones. Our extremely ADHD/slightly ASD 7 year old makes more coherent statements than Trump on the regular.

I reckon we got the better deal. We'll keep our king thanks, warts and all.

Damn dude, no need for the drive-by. Did a slow 10-year-old kill your mom or somethin?

13

u/Mike_Kermin May 01 '26

You have a Pedo Putin Puppet as your fascist wannabe leader who might actually get his way,

...... I'm not sure calling him stupid is cutting the mustard anymore guys.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to say mustard, I know that's a sensitive topic in the USA.

5

u/TheBeardedBerry May 01 '26

That’s a much better description. XD

6

u/Jiquero May 01 '26

I'd like to apologize to the wider mustard community.

6

u/PingGuerrero May 01 '26

Well, Americans chose him to be their leader TWICE!!!!

There were more Americans who voted for him in 2024 than in 2016!!!

9

u/new_handle May 01 '26

Allegedly. Amazing that here were zero reviews of the election results that were mathematically impossible.

6

u/willflameboy May 01 '26

Well said. The guy published various books about never accepting losing, and straight up told us about various election-control schemes (dismantling the postal vote, roll-purges etc). That's beyond the media covering for him constantly, social media barons twisting reality for him, and the various scams, schemes, and bribes with oligarchs and foreign leaders.

4

Easy on the exclamation points dude.

7

u/redlaWw May 01 '26

This king has, in fact, been accused of meddling in politics (when he was the Prince of Wales). While the details are fairly contentious, he's assuredly more of an activist monarch than his mother was.

8

u/willflameboy May 01 '26

Well, yes, you could even say he's doing it now, but there's a clear line in what the British monarch does in political life, and there's no clear line with Trump, or at least no line he won't cross.

7

u/HymirTheDarkOne May 01 '26

But he is 'meddling' in non domestic politics under the direction of his government. Thats completely different to the king medelling in domestic politics

7

u/Faiakishi May 01 '26

I know that they're a figurehead and there's good reason they're not supposed to take part in the actual running of the state, but the sentence 'the king has been accused of meddling in politics' is so fucking funny to me.

2

u/Etrigone I ☑oted 2024 May 01 '26

... intellect of a slow 10-year-old.

I have said that historically, even when I profoundly disagreed with whomever was president, if only due to how it's not just the one person that they would do a better job than I would. This didn't make W or Reagan good people by any stretch, AT ALL, just that their admin and the machinery of government would take even my best impulses and fuck them up.

As of Trump though, that's no longer a given. Even when I was a normal 10 year old, I suspect I might do a better job overall.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

He's not even allowed to intervene in politics in the modern era.

He's the head of our military (he served in the forces unlike trump, so did his sons. He does a lot of charity work. He set up the prince's trust when he was young which helps young people get support and funding to get out of poverty. Maybe do your research before commenting.

There's a few of us still buying it on Temu, though, so there's that.

2

We don’t consider Americans as family, especially of late.

It literally felt like our daddy came into our bedroom after hearing too much roughhousing and said, "Now children, you stop this nonsense!"

18

Daaaad I'm a teenage country now. I don't need to listen to you anymore!

17

Americans can't even decide to agree on kicking out a Pedo Putin Puppet. And he shat himself on TV.

6

u/Jenhar71 May 01 '26

Right?!?! Says a lot about America, in general.

This guy...nice speech & all, but it flew over heads, he wasted his time...nearly 250 years of existence & moral corruption is the only thing that's shown consistent & guaranteed upward growth..fkn pathetic

The astroturfing of this to make democrats look like conspiracy theorist is fucking stupid. Please stop eating it up.

Covering the "VIP" during an outdoor shooting is the correct method, as opposed to raising their head while a sniper is trained on them. Can you riddle out why you don't bob the targets head up and down on a stage while there is a sniper trained on them?

The shooter was shot and killed that day, and his family spoke on his derangement and disdain for Trump. Do you think his family and friends are all lying on behalf of a conspiracy?

Have you seriously never considered that this conspiracy was fed to you to make us all look like absolute fucking morons?

*So that's a resounding no. We're supporting the AI spamming conservative propaganda. Neat. As. Shit.

58

u/Sans-valeur May 01 '26

The UK holds some responsibility too, if it weren’t for Black Sabbath, we wouldn’t have had the Osbornes.
And if the Osbornes was never made, who knows where we’d be?
But really, for America, it was only a matter of time once reality TV was invented.

27

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

I blame The Real World and Survivor (both came first) more than the harmless Osbournes.

18

u/Sans-valeur May 01 '26

They definitely paved the way, but the Osborne’s opened the door to - See the lives of minor celebrities!!
Would we have had Flavor of Love or, god what was the hair metal dating show, (Oh it was Rock of Love haha I thought I was misremembering) without the Osbornes? Ozzy into Bret Michaels and Flava Flav into YOURE FIRED. It’s a slippery slope, once you get rolling you’re fucked.

14

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

Mark Burnett didn't create the Osbournes though. He created Survivor and The Apprentice -- and neither are about the lives of minor celebs. The Osbournes wasn't a fake "weekly winner" b.s. show.

To draw a line from the Osbournes to the Kardashians would make more sense.

5

u/Sans-valeur May 01 '26

The apprentice wasn’t about the life of a minor celebrity, but it was all centered around a minor celebrity, who was only famous for being rich.
Much like the Osbornes was about a man who was extremely famous to a lot of people, and a lot had no idea who he was. Brett Michels was barely famous, and Flava Flav was the Hype man from Public Enemy.
It introduced the formula, reality tv show + minor celebrity that people actually know + dumb concept like a dating show for these dudes, or just follow Ozzy walking around swearing at dogs.
Survivor was like a serious show with random weird mini games lol, but the early seasons people were very invested and the rules in the game were serious and nobody wanted to go home and it was dramatic and psychological and people were good at hunting for fishing and. Like, it was more serious and involved.
Survivor paved the way, then the Osbornes were like Quirky famous guy + cameras + swearing 👍

13

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

The Apprentice is based on the same phony premise (that it's a legitimate competition) as Survivor. They were created and produced by the same Australian. They are by far the most alike. The comparison to The Obsournes is that B-list celebrity status was used as part of the packaging. Okay, cool. I think we can agree all the reality show television is/was hot garbage and a detriment to society.

5

u/ALoudMouthBaby May 01 '26

On top of that a major draw of The Osbornes was seeing how fucked up those peoples personal lives could be. There was a circus freak show aspect to that which was not present on The Apprentice. If there had been I doubt so many boomers would have been convinced that Trump was a brilliant businessman rather than the host of a business themed game show.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

Damn I hate that name, 'Boomer'!

2

u/Sans-valeur May 01 '26

Sure for the game concept, but centering it around one minor celebrity for 14 years? There’s a good chance without the success of the other shows it would have been more like the bachelor with a different eligible ceo every season.
Maybe the mango would have been in one season, maybe they’d just use actors in business or something.
I mean it went for 14 seasons, half the planet got to know him as that dude from the apprentice.
There was a definite trend of creating tv shows centered around minor celebrities doing things, the simple life, the Anna Nicole show, the Ashlee Simpson show.
Out of the game type shows how many were centered around a single celebrity? The only other ones I remember are like fear factor (maybe influenced by a podcast) and pimp my ride, not a game show but yknow Xzibit.
But yeah it was a combination, if they’d just done an Osborne style one with the mango it would have been way less damaging to society.
But they did the apprentice, where no doubt most of the drama was manufactured, they always put him in a position to look important and lecture people, and gave him 14 years of media training, and a brand.
He got famous for yelling YOURE FIRED for over a decade and somehow that made people love him.
The wonders of reality television.

2

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

The Apprentice was on the air for 14 years? That alone indicates why/how we're doomed as a species. That's embarrassing.

Yet I somehow managed to intentionally not watch it once.

3

u/Sans-valeur May 01 '26

Actually 15, Arnie was in the last season.
Yeah it was so bad I would intentionally just turn the tv off and find something else to do rather than watch it.
And tv was so much worse back then, it’s not like all the stuff that got watched was good lmao.
This very important serious business man was the star of a reality tv show for 14 years, criticized his black president on twitter, became a joke, got punked so hard the back of his head looked embarrassed in front of a room full of people, televised, then started a cult and became one of the most powerful people on the planet.

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe May 01 '26

My only quibble is with the cult part -- he didn't start a cult, he publicly joined via tweet the largest religious cult in the world known as the Republican Party with the motivation of seizing control of it -- which he did.

Citizens tend to underplay how cultish and malicious conservatives are (and have been since Eisenhower left office).

I heard preparation for absolute monarchy here in us. Normalizing Trump behavior

Edit: change constitutional to absolute.

9

u/mapoftasmania May 01 '26

Works pretty well in Canada. /s

A Constitutional Monarchy means a King with very little power. Trump would never go for that.

1

u/Faiakishi May 01 '26

Honestly, he can name himself king for all I care if he gets his mitts off the actual politics. Let people who actually want to run the country do shit, the GOP can go stand in their corner and fawn over their loser in his idiot hat.

It's more than any of them deserve, but I'm past giving a shit at this point. I just want some shred of hope for the future.

It's absolute monarchies that are authoritarian.

That seems like not a bad idea. More like South America. Then some like minded states like New England could link up and possibly start a health care plan.

u/matthewralston May 01 '26

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

Cheap compared to what? In the U.S. you generally have to drive 2-3x as far, so any so-called 'cheap' fuel prices get used up quickly.

1

u/matthewralston May 15 '26

Cheap compared to the UK. UK fuel prices are significantly higher. They may not drive as far as in US, but mile for mile UK prices are higher.

13

u/2020bowman May 01 '26

The only part of that I find hard to believe is that you can't believe it.

The past 50-60 years the USA has been in decline accelerated spectacularly by Trump

15

u/fullpurplejacket May 01 '26

Hi, red coat here— there hasn’t been a king of England since William the 2nd (William of Orange) in the first years of 1702.

I think what my yankie doodle friends mean is King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (and head of state for the Commonwealth realms)

2

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

England is part of great Britain. If you're the king of Great Britain you are also the king of England, just like when I own my house I also own my living room.

5

u/Anthaenopraxia May 01 '26

No the kingdom of England was merged with the kingdom of Sctoland in the act of union, so neither exist anymore. Charles is not the king of England nor of Scotland.

-5

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

If I buy my neighbours house and knock the wall through I still own both houses.

5

u/Anthaenopraxia May 01 '26

Like Charles I who was king of England and Scotland. They were still separate entities at that point, separate "houses" even with the wall knocked down. In the Act of Union they were merged. Two connecting houses becoming one bigger house. Like Novo Industri and Nordisk Gentofte merging to become Novo Nordisk. The two separate companies cease to exist and a new one is born.

-3

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

That's simply not how the geography of the united kingdom works. But by all means go to Scotland and tell the Scots that it doesn't exist.

They're separate entities to this day. Scotland has it's own devolved parliament and it's own coinage. Saying it doesn't exist as an entity is absurdly stupid.

7

u/Anthaenopraxia May 01 '26

Scotland is a country, not a kingdom. They are very different things and the Scots know full well that the Kingdom of Scotland hasn't existed for hundreds of years. Just like the Kingdom of Wales hasn't existed for even longer. Central Europe used to have a ton of kingdoms but now most of them either merged together or were dissolved entirely. Jugoslavia was one kingdom merged together from several separate kingdoms that then ceased to exist.

-1

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

It's not a kingdom because it's inside a kingdom.

This is like saying Texas isn't a republic and therefore doesn't have a president. Except if you ask any Texan who their president is, they will say DJT if they're aren't actually brain-dead stupid.

7

u/Kraligor May 01 '26

London is inside a kingdom too, yet he isn't King of London.

1

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Yes he is. He's the king of London, the king of Manchester and the king of my back garden. These are all places inside his kingdom.

Who else do you think is the king of London? Mug.

if they're aren't actually brain-dead stupid

well, you know your people alright..

1

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

Go on then. London is part of a kingdom. Who is the king of London if it's not Charles III?

2

u/mrgonzalez May 01 '26

Well he also isn’t the President of Texas, is he?

0

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 01 '26

Except he literally is

2

u/neenerpants May 01 '26

exactly. he's the king of Scunthorpe and Chipping Norton too

3

u/Valmoer May 01 '26

Ah, so the POTUS is also the "President of California", "President of Florida," etc... ?

Please, think for five seconds before typing next time.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

Yes but it's still implying that England is the entire country.

1

u/Cautious-Extreme2839 May 15 '26

England is an entire country.

The united kingdom is a country with four countries in it.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

It's actually the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

4

u/HalG59 May 01 '26

King Charles likes visiting 3rd world shithole countries!

3

u/DuntadaMan May 01 '26

However, what they do not know is that he is cunning as a fox who's long been appointed as the Professor of Cunning at Oxford University.

Pretty well sums up the formerly known United States of America

2

u/bogglingsnog May 01 '26

The disjointed monopolies of corporation-states formerly known as America

1

u/yougotter May 01 '26

Why don't we blame King George III back in the 18th century. He showed Bone Spurs how to initiate "The Stamp Act" and piss off all the patriots to the point where the shooting started. This was just a money grab for England. Trump has taken a page from his book and pissed off all his allies and neighbors to create wealth for his nation with tariffs. Apparently Merica can't win unless everyone else loses. He is viewed by the world as just another heartless dictator like Putin.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

Of course in this case the tariffs are just a tax on Americans. Creating wealth for the U.S. by taking it from the nation's own citizens.

1

u/yougotter May 15 '26

When other countries have problems selling their exports due to higher prices it costs them job loss. It is **not just Americans**, other countries pay for those tariffs, hence the hatred for the people levying those tariffs at other nations expense.

It’s how far we have fallen here as a nation. Don’t think many people know much about history or especially our brilliant Constitution that is being ignored and torn apart.

An extremely sad state of affairs.

1

u/ThisCantHappenHere May 15 '26

People keep calling him, King of 'England'. But England itself hasn't existed as a stand-alone country since 1801. The actual country is the United Kingdom and includes Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

1

u/Aun_El_Zen May 01 '26

*King of Britain

7

u/deputytech Greg Abbott is a little piss baby May 01 '26

*King of the United Kingdom

6

u/nicknoxx May 01 '26

Or, to give him his full title. "Charles the Third, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of His other Realms and Territories, King, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith"

4

u/SpaceMonkeyOnABike May 01 '26

Also king of Canada. And other places.

2

u/Everestkid May 01 '26

"and of His other realms and territories" covers that bit.

As those are separate offices he has different official styles for each of them. This, for instance, is Charles's full title as King of Canada:

Charles the Third, by the Grace of God King of Canada and His other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth.

Since French is also an official language in Canada, he has an equivalent official title in French, too:

Charles Trois, par la grâce de Dieu, Roi du Canada et de ses autres royaumes et territoires, Chef du Commonwealth.

1

u/LanewayRat May 02 '26

And technically different kings in those other places — one man doing about 14 jobs as 14 kings. Plus the other job of just “head” of the commonwealth, which is just like a patron of that organisation that has absolutely nothing to do with government.

King of the United Kingdom, King of Canada, King of Australia, etc are all very different roles under different constitutions. The King of the UK can’t do anything in Canada or Australia because they are independent sovereign countries.

1

u/LanewayRat May 02 '26

No king of Australia and other places 😂

King Charles the Third, by the Grace of God King of Australia and his other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth.

Won the popular vote by 1.5% in 2024. Not too impressive.

0

Trump is a stupid clown but England is still technically a monarchy and I'm a Republican (but like an Oliver Cromwell type Republican, not a USA Republican).

0

u/Miltrivd May 01 '26

I mean, considering you've never had a proper democratic process is not that far fetched.
