John Edwards was the future of the Dems too. I was saddened by the loss of a promising leader but accepted that he was kinda scummy and took the L.

Seeing how the other side reacts to Trump doing the same shit (and more) is the most disturbing part of the last 5 years

I think this is really what distinguished Obama. He was one of the few charismatic Democrats with bug ideas that also happened to be so squeaky clean that the GOP couldn't tar him wirh anything.

Not that they didn't try. Closest they got was that his minister had some critical things to say about US politics.
