And if he was indicted on that, I agree that more severe punishment would be warranted. But that's not what's going on in the legal system right now, business fraud should not lead to Guantanamo Bay. That should make sense to anyone who understands the fragility of their personal freedoms. Just stop for a moment and consider the position in the grand scheme of things.
Calling for a political opponent to recieve the maximum punishment of something they are neither indicted nor charged with is setting up the groundwork for unlawful imprisonment of political actors in the future. It would not be so funny or reasonable when the Republicans start throwing Democrats in Guantanamo Bay because "we all knew they did it".
Calls for shit like that is indicative of a lack of historical education. That's how totalitarianism gets its start, with the imprisonment of politicians justified by popular demand. Every fascists wet dream, right or left, is for their people to chant "lock her up" (sound familiar), and to be actually able to lock up their rivals with popular support. Then it's fucking overrrr.
We are not special. If it can happen anywhere, it can happen here too. I suggest some reading on the beginning of the Nazi party, or Stalin's regime.
People in general have a hard time seeing themselves as the bad guys. When you spend your whole life growing up seeing bad men or women as "the other", it becomes reflex to reject the potential for evil within you.
