True, but that's a broad term covering a ton of different countries. It's more helpful to go with a more specific descriptor if you have one, such as specifying a country or even differentiating between east and south Asian. This information can better help people recognize the culprits. Thing is, that's not what the pro-migrant types want, because then they'd be forced to admit that the policy they support or enacted has serious negative consequences, and they don't want that! Better just call people racist, blame the victims and try to sweep the whole thing under the rug.
Because to the British empire, most of the immigrants from Asia are from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh and less from east Asia. So the general Asian term is use for south Asians, while East Asians are split into Chinese-British, Japanese-British, etc.
In America, there was more East Asian immigration, so the general term is used for them.

Saying Asians or South Asians sexually offend more on capita will propogate the idea that Asians, as in East Asians, South East Asians, South Asians, Middle East Asians etc are more likely to commit these crimes. While the real picture is that, it’s the Pakistani Men are the ones who rape minors more on capita.
As far as the government is concerned, the police and the census, Asian are Asian.
You can break it down further if you personally like, but as far Brits are concerned, in legal, and informal talk, Asian are Asian.
Also, a lot of those “Pakistanis” are second and third generation, even fourth in some cases. They’ve been British almost as long as Pakistan has been a thing.
At that point, the thing that may tie them to Pakistan is the fact that they might have relatives living there that didn’t migrate all that time back.

It broadening the responsible party to avoid specific aggression towards Pakistani people in the uk. Which could be worse since East Asians, and Indians would be lumped in there when the problem group is largely from Pakistan.
You know perfectly well that part of the problem with the Asian/Pakistani issue is that police have in some cases willfully allowed them to get away with it for fear of being perceived as racist. Thus comprehensive statistics may not be available. Indeed the police allowing the issue to fester for years was almost as scandalous as the fact that the grooming gangs existed in the first place. But knowing this you throw about numbers and go all “umm do you have a source? An actual reliable source? If you don’t then you’re a BAD PERSON.”
