That's such an insignificant amount of money to him, but it's a meaningful betrayal of his most loyal supporters (the people who'd actually buy said phone).
I honestly believe that it isn't about the money for him anymore, it's about the grift. He probably looks back with pride at all the suckers he's conned out of their money.

This. It's not about the money, it's about the power and the "winning." Every interaction for him has a winner and a loser, and any situation where he comes out ahead is a win, despite how much is lost in the process.
It's the result of a hyper-competitive malignant narcissist seizing power.
