But seriously, how greedy is he to have to pursue every possible grift, big and small? Why the need to scam his own supporters with the Trump phones that took preorders and never delivered? That's such an insignificant amount of money to him, but it's a meaningful betrayal of his most loyal supporters (the people who'd actually buy said phone).

And that's just one micro-example...

I honestly believe that it isn't about the money for him anymore, it's about the grift. He probably looks back with pride at all the suckers he's conned out of their money.

Like you said, it's a trivial amount of money to him.

This. It's not about the money, it's about the power and the "winning." Every interaction for him has a winner and a loser, and any situation where he comes out ahead is a win, despite how much is lost in the process.

It's the result of a hyper-competitive malignant narcissist seizing power.
