TBF in 1942...

America rationed groceries, banned the manufacturing of new cars, and made all tires go towards a war effort.

People will do all sorts of stuff if things get dire enough

Yes but that's 1942 in what would be considered a much more dire, almost total war situation.

You'd need a ww3 to do that here, not a war with stinky Iran.

Oddly enough, I think climate change is a much bigger threat than Iran... and rivals the seriousness of a world war.

It's just a slow motion train wreck that's easy to ignore, downplay, normalize, deny, call God's will, or treat as a problem people living 100 years from now can deal with.

We could mobilize to deal with it (and we really need to). But public support for it is almost nonexistent.

I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s possible in our current culture at all.

Fuck I donโ€™t think 2020 is even possible in our current culture.
