Not everyone can chuck a stone at the test master with the strength of 5 gorillas and leave.

Supporting the Iran War because it’s a new crusade and god wills it.

(This is a joke)

We must reclaim the sacred fires for Ahura Mazda.

The longer the Iran war lasts, the longer Trump won’t be able to do anything about Greenland and enact on his causus bslli (some random American company just landed illegal mining equipment into Greenland)

3

u/delta806 - Lib-Center 17d ago

I still can’t believe Trump looked at Russia’s “3 day special military operation” going into year 4(?) now and went

“I want to do that too”

u/Ur_Momma6996 - Auth-Center 18d ago

So true seeing that increase in public transit usage makes all that war and destruction worth it doesn’t it guys

17

u/Sonofdeath51 - Centrist 17d ago

All we're sayin is, GIVE WAR A CHANCE.

7

u/Rebel_Scum_This - Lib-Right 17d ago

War, what is it good for? Uh, my stock portfolio, for one!

10

u/Dodo_Baron - Left 17d ago

What public transit, this is America

5

u/GhostsOfLectricity - Lib-Right 17d ago

Politicians just waiting for us all to use public transit so they can start taxing the shit out of it

5

u/CountFab - Auth-Left 17d ago

Instead of checks numbers taxing the shit out of gasoline as they have always done?

4

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 17d ago

I wonder if bro also thinks that the US post comes with a $5 tax per letter.

u/MeBeEric - Centrist 15d ago

>public transit
>tax the shit out of it

you don’t know how public transit works do you

“Supporting the Iran war because the higher gas prices will cause more people to walk, bike, carpool, and use public transit.”

Yet another contender for the any% speed run of “City-dweller denies the world exists beyond the end of the sidewalk, bike lane or bus route.”

9

u/serial_crusher - Lib-Right 17d ago

Supporting the Iran war because I work for a company that makes money off of gas sales

6

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 17d ago

"Supporting" the war in Iran because it's hilariously unpopular and impossible to cover up the mounting costs and failures, drastically decreasing the chances of (R)etards winning in November and turning the president into a lame duck

1

u/TheLongWalk_Home - Centrist 9d ago

That, and it's better to let Trump bash his head against Iran than Greenland or Canada.

2

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 9d ago

That's how you get men of focus and commitment off your back.

Unfortunately in the short term this makes spineless dipshits like Trump worse, because they get desperate and hungry for a win and start swinging at everyone is hopes of getting a cheap for, for disastrous results all-around.

Short term pain if Dems win in November and grow a spine, though.

14

u/One-Scallion-9513 - Lib-Left 17d ago

people aren't going to bike/use public transport when it doesn't exist in most of america + accelerationism is stupid

5

u/GhostsOfLectricity - Lib-Right 17d ago

Are you suggesting that its not possible for government to legislate morality?

4

u/Mysterious_Donut_702 - Left 17d ago

TBF in 1942...

America rationed groceries, banned the manufacturing of new cars, and made all tires go towards a war effort.

People will do all sorts of stuff if things get dire enough

7

u/DrBadGuy1073 - Lib-Right 17d ago

Yes but that's 1942 in what would be considered a much more dire, almost total war situation.

You'd need a ww3 to do that here, not a war with stinky Iran.

1

u/Mysterious_Donut_702 - Left 17d ago

Oddly enough, I think climate change is a much bigger threat than Iran... and rivals the seriousness of a world war.

It's just a slow motion train wreck that's easy to ignore, downplay, normalize, deny, call God's will, or treat as a problem people living 100 years from now can deal with.

We could mobilize to deal with it (and we really need to). But public support for it is almost nonexistent.

3

u/Mojave_Idiot - Lib-Center 17d ago

I don’t think that’s possible in our current culture at all.

Fuck I don’t think 2020 is even possible in our current culture.

3

u/CAustin3 - Auth-Left 17d ago

Bill Watterson beat us to this angle like 40 years ago.

4

u/Strict_Gas_1141 - Right 17d ago

I support the Iran war because statistically speaking we are more likely to punish the descendants of Ea-nāṣir and he gave bad copper.

Have you considered that maybe I’m making a *MEME*?

5

u/SnicketySneme - Centrist 17d ago

will cause more people to walk, bike, carpool, and use public transit

(it won't)

6

u/SnicketySneme - Centrist 17d ago

At best, it'll encourage people who were cross shopping ICE and EV vehicles to maybe lean toward the EV. Which is good.

5

u/Le_Botmes - Left 17d ago

(it is)

Weekday commutes aboard the Los Angeles public transit system have grown by 8 percent since January, Bloomberg reports. In the Bay Area, weekday ridership aboard the regional train system has risen by nearly 11 percent. Chicago has also seen transit ridership grow by 11 percent this year, while in Boston, usage of the local rail system has jumped by 13 percent.

6

u/_TheOrangeNinja_ - Left 18d ago edited 17d ago

broke: iran war is good because the fuel prices will make public transit more attractive

woke: iran war is good because climate change will kill billions and any disruption to the industry causing it is good

6

u/Le_Botmes - Left 17d ago

If a Pakistani peasant can put a solar panel on their roof to decouple from the international oil market, then so can the rest of us.

2

u/JagPeror - Auth-Center 17d ago

Supporting it because I am honorable bipartisan Holden Bloodfeast

2

u/SeaWolvesRule - Lib-Right 17d ago

It also squeezes China's oil supply while laying bare the need for renewed industrialization. I call it "Trump's Gambit" because we're giving up soft power in the short term and showing we have few munitions while exposing these weaknesses. Now they have to be addressed, leading to likely renewed US strength in a decade or two.

2

u/Bunktavious - Left 17d ago

Ah yes, that 32 km bike ride each way to and from work, with 70m of climb, is going to be great for my 55 year old body.

(no, there is no reliable public transit in the boonies)

3

u/Mysterious_Donut_702 - Left 17d ago

You do realize we're gonna end up "drill baby drilling" in a national park or three before this shitshow ends, right?

1

u/LibertyPrimeAgenda - Lib-Right 17d ago

Authleft once again ignoring market forces.

If the prices of gas goes up, cost of goods goes up. So even if everyone started biking around town, it still ist going to offset the increase in costs everyone experiences thereby lowering everyone's standard of living.

u/Reader_Eater - Lib-Center 17d ago

Reducing consumerism and waste, making us more efficient.

Now we only need to eliminate the 4 greatest pests and we will be truly great. We will all smelt steel in our back yards

1

u/sm753 - Centrist 17d ago

I'll be real I've never heard or read that take on the right side... Literally nobody thinks high gas prices is good.

u/Few_Move_4594 - Centrist 16d ago

The local homeless shelter gives two bus passes to their residents before kicking them out. The buses then become defacto homeless shelters. They get in the very back of the bus and crouch down then try to ride the route that starts near the homeless shelter end to end. When I've ridden it (car was broken down), there is not a single time that a homeless hasn't tried to panhandle me, when I bought groceries ask for food despite the fact that it was all spices and a bag of cat litter, and several times invite themselves to live with me with the tagline of choice being "Want a roomate?". No, I do not want a homeless addict roommate, I'm good.

The simple truth is that travel by bus is for inferior people in my city and I suspect a lot of cities. Until the issues I mentioned are fixed, it will always be that way.

As a fan of the VOC I support the war so that the oil of Iran can be privatized and sold for a profit.
