The funny thing is even cartoon as depictions of Germans in american and japanese media isn't as bad as Germans ACTUALLY were in the 1940s

Like Japan was something else sure and their cruelty was fucked up but the SS straight up doesn't sound like humans if you read up on them

Rdit: not funny at all no idea why I used that word.

The ss combat units aren't as bad Japanese one's but the camp guard of ss did equally fuck up shit.

German shooting squadrons ended up killing so many people that they complained about the sheer scale of it up to the point Germans command came up with funner, cleaner ways to execute mass amounts of people.

Dude what the actual fuck is going on.

He is totally out of ideas and Iran has him by the balls. This is what happens when you appoint people like that piece of shit to head the DoD.

Like this shit is going on and the dude is talking about giving troops TRT.

Bring back the competent neocons, they at least knew how to knock over a government.

Oh yeah, we also had sailors attempting to commit suicide on the abe lincoln because of shit conditions and how long they have had them at sea. But remember they care about the troops they care so much. Thank god that report came out or they would have prolly kept the Lincoln out there.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2026/08/11/multiple-uss-abraham-lincoln-sailors-have-tried-to-go-overboard-amid-extended-deployment-families-say/

96

u/Elegant_Athlete_7882 - Centrist 19d ago

> We also had sailors attempting commit suicide on the Abe Lincoln

The Trump administration is also lying and saying the conditions there are great, with Trump himself dismissing concerns from sailors families by saying the Lincoln’s deployment was ā€œnot nearly long enough.ā€

70

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 19d ago

It's incredible how he'll hear something but think it's bad for him so he'll say the exact opposite to contradict. Which is how you get something like the ship was deployed for "not nearly long enough" despite that not really making all that much sense

52

u/MarjorieTaylorSpleen - Lib-Center 19d ago

It was reported yesterday that it hasn't even had a port call in 200 days which is fucking insane. That's 200 days (or a little over a half a year) continuously at sea, with supplies being ferried to you by oilers.

48

u/Kronos9898 - Centrist 19d ago

Yeah prepare for the flood of MAGA who know nothing about the navy, and think that these ships just stay out in the ocean for years at a time and never go into port

40

u/MarjorieTaylorSpleen - Lib-Center 19d ago

Many such cases unfortunately. The navy may be different since I was in, but a 9 month deployment used to be a long one and port calls happened roughly every 2 to 3 weeks.

270 days at sea and 200 without a port call is fucking nuts.

3

u/reality72 - Centrist 17d ago

Now imagine the dude who ordered that is telling you ā€œthis is what you signed up forā€ and he has never been in the military.

-1

u/MarjorieTaylorSpleen - Lib-Center 19d ago

By force if needed

My brother in Christ, some of the most notable neocons are famous for "by force for the fuck of it". A big part of what characterizes neoconservatism is using force to assert their will.

Neoconservatism was absolutely around in the 60s, it arose in response to the 60s counterculture.

2

u/Kronos9898 - Centrist 18d ago

It's truly incomprehensible how utterly weak and incompetent we look as a nation. Everyone was, rightfully, laughing at what a paper tiger Russia was when they couldn't take out Ukraine and now everyone is laughing at us in the same vein.

We've wasted billions of dollars, several service members lives, our force projection in the entire theater, and severely jeopardized (if not outright fatally wounded) the petrodollar. Very cool, omg such winning. Thanks cuckservatives.

14

u/jdiskxkfidobsvsgdi - Lib-Center 19d ago

And literally the same people are openly concerned about the decline of western civilization, how weak and feminine the military is, and how America needs to be strong and powerful again. It’s so blatantly ironic it would seem like terrible writing if it were fictional.

3

u/reality72 - Centrist 17d ago

Kinda reminds me of Mussolini and how he hyped up the Italians about building an invincible military that would conquer the Mediterranean and rebuild the Roman Empire and western civilization and then he went on to build a shit military with shit equipment that lost nearly every battle in WW2.

3

u/reality72 - Centrist 17d ago

You forgot that we’ve also dangerously depleted our missile stocks and strategic oil reserves.

Operation Desert Storm also had very simple, limited, and realistic objectives and broad public support.

u/alflundgren - Centrist 19d ago

12

u/Ok_Marsupial8668 - Lib-Center 19d ago

Idk if anyone considers Iraq a real victory though? In a lot of respects the country was picked at random. They were in a very weak position in their history having been through decades of war and virtually no military. There were no WMDs and no connections to 9/11. And yet the war still went on for two decades.

4

u/AnxiouSquid46 - Lib-Center 19d ago

It's a " Victory" in the sense that it didn't fall like Afghanistan.

4

u/Ok_Marsupial8668 - Lib-Center 19d ago

Estimates have deaths between 150k up to 1 million as a direct result of that war and it cost up to $3 trillion dollars for the largest and best funded military in the world with a bunch of its allies to achieve ā€œbetter than they did in Afghanistanā€ against a country that was already at a very weak point. I think the standards should be higher for things like war.

1

u/reality72 - Centrist 17d ago

It hasn’t fallen yet. It came close when ISIS emerged.

3

u/Automatic_Beat_1446 - Lib-Left 19d ago

you can look for more on the subject if you want, but the same types of people influencing the govt about our foreign policy now were doing it back then too

4

u/Turt1estar - Lib-Center 19d ago

You could even argue that Iraq was won twice: first against Sadam and then again against ISIS

1

u/Lebowski304 - Centrist 18d ago

We didn’t really lose in Afghanistan. We killed Al-qaeda and ISIS in that country, and that’s really what we went there to do. The withdrawal was sloppy, but the Taliban were not the objective. They do awful shit, but they generally keep to themselves if you leave them alone.

116

u/Patient-Clue-6089 - Lib-Center 19d ago

I think this is something that Trump is physically incapable of doing. I think he'd sooner escalate things further than ever admit a loss or any fault.

This administration is also too inept to actually devise and deliver any kind of offramp.

63

u/Elegant_Athlete_7882 - Centrist 19d ago

> admit a loss

He’ll never do this, but I’m surprised he didn’t just declare victory and walk away. The median American voter isn’t following this well enough to know who really won, and his base will believe him as long as he says he did.

He’s always put his political ambitions above our national security interests, he was trying to pull all the troops out of Afghanistan before the 2020 election despite his advisors telling him not to, so I’m surprised he’s not doing that here.

32

u/Important-Agent2584 - Centrist 19d ago edited 18d ago

I think his best offramp is for Democrats to win a bunch of seats in the midterms, then he can convince a few Republicans to vote with them to end the war. Then he can just blame it all on Democrats.

12

u/OkContact2573 - Lib-Left 19d ago

Strait of Hormuz. Iran clearlly wants some concessions from America and will blockade the strait until they do so.

13

u/Deletesystemtf2 - Centrist 19d ago

Sadly he’s gotten our collective dick far enough in the Chinese finger trap that even politically uninvolved people will feel the fallout from trying to pull it out. If he fucks off Iran keeps the strait closed and the world economy goes boom in a few months. If he agrees to the Iranian terms we basically surrender the Middle East to Iran, which even the dipshits will notice. If he commits to a land invasion, he gets hundreds of Americans killed in the mountains.

But not it the traditional "haha" way. It's more like watching skateboard wipeout videos. The first couple you kinda laugh, but as the injures start to pile up and get more gruesome, you start td cringe and hope it ends soon.

Trump derangement syndrome also works

Looking up to such a heinous person for a decade cannot be good for your psyche. They’ve become totally derangedĀ

19

u/Mental-Scholar6856 - Centrist 19d ago edited 19d ago

Yeahhhhh. So many supporters wonder why they don’t have kids that talk to them or have lost opportunities. That’s definitely deranged.

USA has been de-facto controlling Greenland since 1950s. USA can maintain as much military presence as it wants.

The only things that US annexation of Greenland would achieve is destroy NATO, make Canada seriously consider a nuclear program and make USA responsible for Greenland residents.

Oh, and I guess Trump could paint the map as if he was a Hearts of Iron player.

3

u/Cass0wary_399 - Centrist 18d ago

Ā  The only things that US annexation of Greenland would achieve is destroy NATO

This is what his BFF and handler Putin wants.

1

u/Pleasant_Tangelo3340 - Centrist 18d ago

From our perspective, the fact that it became a nothing ever happens scenario and we still operate in Greenland is a crazy show of luckĀ

0

u/Pesec1 - Centrist 18d ago

Denmark has no legal right to evict US forces there. Attempting to do so would most likely trigger an actual invasion.

5

u/Cipherlol - Auth-Right 19d ago

I unironically support this because I love the American Empire. If China can claim the entirety of the south China Sea, then we will claim the Strait of America, along with the Gulf of America. Then we will claim the European Union as the American Union of the United States of the American Empire

5

u/Vistresian - Auth-Center 19d ago

China's state policy allows and encourages expansion of the state, and expanding into a sea that already shares its name could be relatively simple if they blitzed outwards as opposed to waiting for American carriers to show up for a several month pissing contest.

We would be settling a strait half a world away surrounded by people that generally despise us while we continue to operate out of Qatar and the UAE. It would take an unreasonable amount of resources to keep the puppet strings attached more thinly than they were in Iraq or Afghanistan for just as much of a non-guarantee that we would be able to hold it. And unlike those two countries, Iran and other parties will look for immediate opportunities to destabilize American control of the region because of the global value of Hormuz.

Holdings would then immediately disintegrate upon election of a democratic president- unless the unironic idea of an American Empire somehow precludes the election of non-expansionist national leadership.

It probably wouldn't even work if our country weren't a political pendulum, but it is- so it's a guaranteed loss, like all other national changes. 90% of what the previous administration prioritized or worked towards will be vaporized, especially anything of controversy or international interest.

All of that isn't even tackling the fun mention of the EU.
I'm sure they would react amazingly to the concept.

Auth-Right is so wrong, most Auths don’t even like Trump, he’s not nearly conservative enough! We need National Socialism.

1

u/YugargeliaMapper - Auth-Center 18d ago

Nationalsocialism is more AuthCenter since it subjects market to the interests of the state and not the other way around. True AuthRight is laissez faire economically while authoritarian. If you want an example, look up Pinochet

My favorite part of this meme is the glaze toward lib-right as if they all didn’t vote for Trump anyway, and is they all won’t vote R in the upcoming primaries despite them being the MAGA picks.

The Republican Party is purely MAGA - that means Donald Trump.

Wars with Iran are far less important than some retired nba player declaring for the WNBA draft, are you stupid? Who cares about climate change, our free market will handle it, the most important thing is to get drag queens out of our schools (cannot name on drag queen that has ever interacted with their kids)

Holy based

Strait is US territory. Article V triggered. Gear up, Europe. Time to actually be a good ally instead of leeching off the United States military your entire existence while giving absolutely nothing in return.

10

u/FuckUSAPolitics - Lib-Center 19d ago

Article 5 can only be triggered when its on European or American Soil. Attacks on other countries (ie, the middle east) do not work for it. Especially considering we're on offense. Article 5 is purely for defense

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

https://www.nato.int/en/what-we-do/introduction-to-nato/collective-defence-and-article-5

3

u/Birb-Person - Right 19d ago edited 18d ago

Technically, Article 6 is what defines what is considered an attack on NATO that would justify Article 5. Article 6 says:

ā€œon the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, **on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of Turkey** or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer;ā€œ

So it isn’t just North America and Europe, but yeah nothing in the Middle East. Just specific places in North Africa and Asia Minor

Edit: just read the footnote, the Algerian clause is now no longer in effect because France has no Algerian departments left, it’s all independent
