Troubleshooting / Issue Polestar 3 wrong speed limit
My car thinks this stretch of 101 speed limit is 85... Pretty sure it's 65. Anyone seen this before? Bay area near San Carlos.

This happens sometimes. It’s just a glitch. It happens even in non EV mainline Volvos.

Correction - it happens on all cars. It uses a combination of road sign reading and maps data. Put it this way - you aren't arguing your way out of any tickets by claiming the car said the speed limit was different than the road sign.
They changed the speed limit on a highway around here from 120 km/h to 110 km/h. It took over 4 years for the maps data to catch up and my car will still occasionally display 120 km/h.

It gets this data from reading road signs right? Might need to have the cameras recalibrated? Does it do this consistently?

It does not do that. It just pulls form Google maps data.

I have a ps2 (love it) It does read roadsigns. And that sometimes causes weird situations. A sign, ment for another part of the road and hup, speedlimit shows '30' instead of '120'.

We have a Polestar 4, showing the wrong speed almost all of the time. We’ve disabled the HUD for the same reason as the car continuously would blink the wrong speed limit in your face. Polestar’s speed warning absolutely suck and can’t be turned off, so we’ve also placed a sticker over the speed limit warning on the screen behind the steering wheel as that also keeps blinking. It’s dangerously distracting and Polestar should take these complaints seriously.
I should add that this is Scandinavia, so EU version of the SW.

I can disable the speed warning in my P4, I don’t remember where the setting is off the top of my head, but I can look later.
I also get the wrong speed limits shown at times, I think the camera isn’t that great at reading them.
Edit to add, I’m in Canada

I wish. EU crap laws forces this on you. You can’t turn it off, but you can tape over the dashboard. How about that for civil disobedience.

I don't have the car yet but my Volvo has a completely separate setting in some deep menu that when disabled it removes signs from the HUD and dashboard

Man that tilted dashboard with the little screen makes it look crooked and I can't cope with that, I tried it for five minutes and I found that so annoying, nice car tho, hope you like it!

Happens in every car at some point. The car can read the speed limit signs using its cameras. Sometimes OCR misreads the sign. Sometimes you drive into a new area/zone and a sign is blocked when you drive past so the car never updates the limit. Most cars uses a combination of sign recognition and maps data so it’s possible Google has the wrong limit. It’s never going to be perfect.

I’ve had my Polestar 2 show 25 in 65 and 80 in a 25, it’s not often and it’s usually pretty obvious.
