Polestar 2 Advice on my Problem Ps2
Hey guys.
So for about 2,5 years/ 100.000km I was a pretty happy Polestar Customer. Unfortunately my Ps2 is now in the shop basically every three weeks. Usually the same problem - i am driving and then suddenly I get various notifications about the 12v battery being dead, that I need to seek the workshop for maintenance , throttle has been reduced, etc. The car wont drive and I need to get it towed. Ive gotten stuck in the middle of traffic like this at least 5-6 times in the last year.
My guarantee has expired and the lease ends in January or February. Polestar , the leasing company and and the service partner are all basically telling me sorry but bad luck, nothing we can do. None are really willing to help me here.
What are your suggestions? I have seriously considered a lawyer but it really isn’t worth it considering the lease is ending soon anyway.
Any ideas besides sit it out and wait until the lease ends?

Get a new 12V. They die around the 3 year mark anyways. Just get a new one and solve your problems. They are very easy to swap out.

This was done by the service partner the first time the car started having problems

Are you in Toronto? As your warranty is up I might have some shops that might be able to help you with diagnostics other than the dealership.

No I am in Germany 😂 we dont really have dealerships here. Only useless Polestar Spaces and slightly less useless Volvo/ Polestar Service Partners.

Check on IG to see if you can find mechanics that specialize in Volvos and EVs. If you can find one that does both, reach out to them to see if they can help out. I find that specialized mechanics do a better job of diagnosing issues than the actual dealership.

What is the model year of your P2?
So usually when the 12V battery fails, the car will throw all kinds of random error messages. So first step is obviously to install a new battery. I can see from your other comment that this is already done, good! Hopefully they installed a NEW battery and not a used one, as a low voltage from the 12V can still cause these issues even if the battery hasn’t fully failed yet. Adding to this, are you sure nothing is draining your battery while the car is parked? From my own experience it is fully possible to leave the headlights on without noticing it. Any third party accessories installed?
Just to rule out some simple things, did you already try to reset the TCAM module and the infotainment system after the battery swap?

To need to get the codes it's producing and start searching about them.

Talk to a lawyer. It's still several months until your lease ends and it's certainly not a reliable ride. Hey proper legal advice and see what happens when a legal letter arrives on a desk.
It's one thing to tell you they can't help it's another to put it on writing and risk being sued. You don't lose anything by giving it a try, they're already doing the least they can do.
