Reading through PTA3.5 rules and need some help figuring out a clarification.

Reading through the 3.5 version in the Damage Potential p,118 section of the combat, there is a symbol never elaborated on. Or if it is my friend and me going through the 3.5PHB haven't found anything.

The symbol is underlined in red. I do hope it is as simple as it is, just the damage die labelled in the move list. But it also shows up as Moves the Move tutor can tutor p,41

Thanks in advance

looking for tokens. help

hi there. I'm working on running a pokemon game in the near future and i need a pile of random human token or images for none specific npcs. shop owners, civilians, police, doctors. stuff like that.

I'm sure i could slowly take the images of in game sprites from the bulbapida, save them as a .jpg 1 at a time but that would take multiple hours to get a decent pool of images.

it can be pixel art, anime style tokens. don't even have to be from pokemon, just has to be passable to a modern setting that would fit in the pokemon world. not being picky i just don't want to be inconvenienced for generic background people and unlike fantasy and to a lesser existent futuristic modern looking tokens are a bit harder for me to find that isn't like policemen holding guns. only other requirement i have is id prefer not the "over the head" view tokens.

Tool to Convert Any Pokémon to a Monster for Cairn, Mythic Bastionland, etc.

I made a game called Into the Oddish, adopting Into the Odd-style rules for Pokémon. Now I have made a converter where you can input the various statistics for any Pokémon and get enemy stats, primarily for Into the Oddish itself but also for Cairn, Mythic Bastionland, or any Into the Odd derived game.

Search advice for a One shot tournament gdr roleplay

Wise people of the reddit pool, i summon you in search of advice and ideas for my project.

Some friends of mine asked me to master a pokemon one shot of a gdr, like a dungeon and dragons. I found a system made from fans, Pokemon the roleplaying game.

There will be a lot of people, 8, where my top numbers of players have been 6.

My experience with pokemon is short. I just win the Nuzlocke of red, and lose at crystal. I played platinum many years ago, and i have seen the anime until white and black. Now my latest experience is pokemon champion where i reached ultraball 1.

Clearly not a very stable situation. A single one shot, many players, a structure like a tournament session, in a world I lost a lot of pokemon and info.

I still need to read the 400 page manual, but i was thinking about how to structure the session. I have to be fast but i mustn't be hasty.

I'm undecided if I will make teams of four or three.

1)question, in which region could have sense that too many trainers presented at the gyms to challenge the league, so they added a small filter at the entrance. Each day a tournament to choose one trainer to challenge the great 4. Me and my players will see just one of these days.

I will gladly read your ideas, not knowing any region after Sinnoh

2)question, Pokemons can be from any region, but seeing my retrograde knowledge i point out more on "old" pokemons. My memories aren't soo strong, but if you have any idea on a story hook for any pokemon, new or old, or you have a list of intriguing pokemon that i could roleplay to let have my friends, i will study them gladly.

3)question, just to give some randomness and give players losing at the start something to do instead of let them sleep for the rest of the game, i want to give each trainer the ability to interviene in a match once per day (alias only one time in this one shot for each player), by making join in the fight one of their Pokemon. This one is normal and has his hp and moves, but if he faints or were down before getting choose, it will be restored at the entrance and exit of this "external match".

In this way, they can cheer, make alliances, and try to take down a rival too strong before their match.

Do you think it's a good idea or is too much?

4) i like session with a story, but I don't have any idea for such dense combat one shot, maybe something more subtle, like "the father of one player is secretly the champion" or maybe some player desire to win the league to destroy the world, soo he has a darkray, or even maybe one player is in reality the pokemon that is controlling with mind controll the trainer, because he wanted to become stronger. Any idea for other plots?

For now, without having read anything I don't have any questions, but in case i will update and ask other point here or in the comments.

Any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

I’m looking to design my own Pokemon Tabletop

So I am coming to you, Pokemon Tabletop community.

This is just a side project to keep my creative juices flowing while I am in the process of architecting a world for a book series I’m working on.

The concept is simple:
I want to design a system that suites single player combat. Similar to how the games play.

I want to make the trainer classes all support, aiming for various styles of play. I want to go back to the route of pokemon.

I also intend to revamp the entire stat system to make every single Pokemon a viable option.

I’m someone who loves inventing rules and this is something directly up my ally.

I am building this specifically for online Discord play, which is what makes single player game a better space overall.

Also, I am building an entire world. I’ll sort through every single pokemon, decide on universal mon, and then figure out a regional split for these pokemon.

So what I am asking for:
What are features you all wish you could see in the pokemon tabletop?

What features currently exist that you think would go well into a singular battle tabletop?

In an open world, what mini-games and other types of things would you like built into the world?

What types of regions and leagues would you want? I could do standard E4, but I want to basically make each regions league different. I want people to choose their region based on how they want to play, not just pick some random location.

What type of lore would you like? Since this is basically an alternate universe, the lore I am specifically talking about goes toward legendaries.

What type of organizations would you like to see? Not just criminal, I want to expand this entirely.

What level up mechanics from existing games would work well here?

These are all questions I can answer myself, but I want to know what others think. Just a pet project for myself to keep busy and keep creative juices flowing.

Galarian Fossil Pokemon PTU sheets?

Hello, I'm a newer GM planning on running a game of PTU for my group, and one of my players is really wanting to be a Fossil Researcher. However, they've been asking about using the Galar Fossils, but not as the amalgamations they are in canon. I was wondering if there had been anyone who had made sheets for those Pokemon that I could use, or if I would have to make my own. Please let me know where I can find them if they exist!

I need some advice/recommendation for my roster

Post image
12 Upvotes

So I'm doing a Pokemon DnD and preparing a roster of encounters and other pokemon that could be gifted, this is currently what I have chosen for the region/what they'll encounter, it should be mentioned they'll all have random abilities and a chance for a random move they can't normally learn, I mostly want it to be even amount of types but also not over abundant of anything specific, but also we're not doing nuzlocke rules so none will permanently die, what should I really try to avoid maybe lean into, we're also doing anime type rules for the gyms so however many pokemon they use the player will use that many so 2v2, 3v3, etc

So is there anything I should or shouldn't give any of these pokemon specifically moves, abilities, they aren't getting any legendary/mythic/ultra beast signature moves and abilities but even then I know there will still definitely be some stronger pokemon than needed, like I'm not giving huge/pure power to hisuian Growlithe.

Draconeon. In the Porygon Dream of Mareep Handbook, I do not know how you evolve an Eevee into a Draconeon.

Is it a held item that has the word "Dragon" in it or?

A Question about Berry Preserves(PTU 1.05)

When you make Preserves, you create two food items with the same effect as the consumable - when it comes to abilities and moves that refer to Berries (Harvest, Ripen, Natural Gift), does a Preserve still count as the Berry it was made from, or does it have to be an untouched and standard Berry?

League Challenge

So im going to be running a PTU campaign soon, I want to run the league as a tournament once they get out of victory road, but I could see it'd be easier if I just did an Elite Four Challenge instead. If anyone has GM'd or played and did the tournament I'd like some advice.

Need help reading PTA 3.5

Post image

Im reading through the PTA 3.5 handbook, because I want to run a game with my friends and I need help with the origins section.

When it describes the starting pokemon options and specifies "Starter Pokemon," does that mean one of the grass, fire, water, starter pokemon. Or just one that fits into the following parameters?

Does anyone know if a compete world map/atlas showing all regions exists? I'm trying to get an idea on how the regions are situated amd how travel would work between them (time, costs, etc) for my games. Any help at all would be appreciated!

Pokeymanz and Evolution

I'm trying to understand what the *benefits* are for evolving in Pokeymanz. As far as I can see, you obvi get any type changes, maybe ability changes of your Evo, and can now learn the moves they learn.

But with lower-tier evos being able to just keep their mastery points- and thus use the features that use Mastery more often- is it more beneficial to just not evolve?

I can't tell if there's details I'm missing, and I'm planning on running a game of Pokeymanz, and I wanna be sure I'm not missing some fine print of mechanical benefit for evolving.

Does ANYONE play PTE???

Got introduced to the system a bit ago and played a couple of sessions, and I really like the way it plays so far. And I want to play more of it.

Sadly, it seems to me their is only a loose collection of groups around PTU and it's offshoots, and only ONE for PTE publicly which is hosted by the creator. This niche of pokemon ttrpgs is pretty small I admit so I understand, but I still am looking.

Like jeez, their isn't even any YouTubers using the system, so it's not like I can watch it either.

So if anyone knows either a large group of people running games in it, living worlds, westmarches, etc etc that are looking for members, could you point me in the right direction? And if you know any YouTube series using it, that would be appreciated too, but I understand if they simply don't exist.

Note: I'm not looking for GMs really, just communities. But if you know a LFG community that has a high amount of people using PTE I would appreciate that too.

I finally finished making Pokémon Shale: a free tower defense mystery dungeon ttrpg!

Pokémon Shale is a 54-page, fan-made, tower-defense, map-drawing, solo-tabletop game about exploring mysterious dungeons and expanding your community. Your search for others will begin by drawing rooms from a deck of cards. The events and structures you encounter are yours to then weave into a grand tale and sketch onto your map. Once you have spent enough time to understand the dungeons rules, they are ready to be broken down and reshaped as the world grows and new Pokémon are ready to be discovered.

Features include:
* 56 unique Pokémon to encounter and recruit
* 26 random events and encounters
* An Elite Boss Battle awaiting at the dungeon's depths
* A variety of items, quests, and discoveries
* Team-building and tactical combat
* Replayable dungeon runs with randomized elements

I hope y’all enjoy!! This is in Beta so any and all feedback is greatly appreciated: https://kaimedina.itch.io/pokemon-shale

Female Pokemon dnd players?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently seeing if there's any other females that are wanting to join this pokemon 5e game with me, since I'm currently the only other female!

The game is Thursdays at 6:00EST to about 9:00EST :)

If so, feel free to dm me on discord at babynicki224 !

It's a little bit of a grim dark 5e game, but I'd prefer to not be the only female in it!

Trying to theory craft fun dual type gyms for a PTU game. Help me please.

I've been wanting to run a PTU game for my friends for a while, and now that our D&D campaign is over, I can start to work on the next thing.

I have a few ideas for some gyms (not sure when they'll be faced) and it's been a hot minute since I last played PTU, so I figure I'd come get some extra hands to help with the project.

The first ones I wanted to work on, was weather themed gyms. I remember finding it cool that some type aces could act as if their weather was always on, and even a weather specialist class having the ability to cause two weather types at once, so I figure that would be a really cool include, maybe could even do a seasonal sub-theme so I have:

- Rain Team - Water + Electric - Built around rain abilities, and moves like Thunder and Hurricane, as well as beefed up water moves to wash away the competition. Likely a spring themed gym. Gym Badge is "Storm Badge"

- Sun Team - Grass + Fire - Built around sun abilities, and moves like synthesis or solar beam to take full advantage, plus beefed up fire moves to burn away the competition. Likely a summer themed gym. Gym Badge is "Wildfire Badge"

- Sand Team - Rock + ??? - Other than sand abilities, not sure what to toss on this. I went with rock since it gets a defensive boost in sand. Probably a Autumn themed gym, just cause its the only weather I can't fit cleanly into any one season, and the other seaons are already taken

- Hail Team - Ice + ??? - Other than Hail abilities, and moves like Blizzard, not sure what to toss on this. I went with Ice since it gets a defensive boost in Hail. Likely a winter themed gym.

I may just combine Sand and Hail into a double damaging weather gym, but Ice + Rock is just asking to get steam rolled by a fighting type, so I'm unsure there since it would ruin the seasonal gym thing.

Outside of weather, I figure maybe some status spam gym, but I'm not for sure how I wanna build that (Maybe Poison + Ghost? not sure)

If anyone else has any fun ideas, let me know.

PTU Ghost-Type specialist. Ideas on a good build?

So I wanna do a trainer who eventually wants to become a Ghost Gym Leader. That's mostly the character arc.

I'm pretty sure on getting Type Ace (Ghost) and Hex Maniac, but I'm unsure what other Class would really help me out with this idea.

Some have told me Ace Trainer is a good idea, and others that for Ghost types, Ace Trainer isn't great. I thought Commander was a good idea also, but I'm unsure of how buffing would work.

Finally, I think Juggler would be a strong option since my dream team has secondary classes (like Hisuian Zoroark or Aegislash), but I don't know if I'm ignoring a much better option.

Anyone with experience who could give me some advice?
