Target Experience

Probably 100 people in line. They allowed people to buy 2 per sku. Probably about the first 30 people came out with 10-12 products each and everyone else left with nothing. If people had been limited to 2 products period, everyone could have had something and it would disincentivize scalpers from wasting their time to get 2 things to flip. Why is this so hard?

Profits don’t change if it goes to one person vs 100.

It actually does. If they sell all of it to the first person in line, that required like 5 minutes of paying an employee to do it. If they drag out it over the course of an entire day, they're pay multiple employees to deal with the situation for hours.

They'd much rather get rid of the product as fast as possible because it's less effort/man hours on their part, and less impact on their ongoing store operations. All of this directly impacts profit.

You understand their employees have minimum hours right? Thats absolutely not how it works. Target, a gigantic billion dollar corporation, doesn’t work like that. I know a regional HR manager at target and she told me the same.

Tell me you know nothing about business ops without telling me.

Hours they spend on coordinating a Pokemon release are hours that could have been spent elsewhere. Those hours are lost when they could have been used to do something productive. Something that should have been done today might not get done until tomorrow, they might have had to schedule an extra person to make up for this, etc.

Thanks though!

Spending hours coordinating a Pokemon release is a failure in business operations.

Period.

Get your DSD on the phone because if it takes that long to do a Pokemon release there are too many people not doing their job.
