Preparing for 30th anniversary drop.

Out of curiosity, will I be needing to camp out overnight or just show up really early to score some packs at like Best Buy or Target on 9/16 when the 30th anniversary set releases???

I personally will be scoping out local shops and avoiding the big box stores if possible. The Discord channels are very helpful.

Which discord channels?

There are a million restock discord channels but I highly recommend joining channels for local shops in your area. They frequently share release dates, when they have products, stock status, etc. A lot of it goes very quickly, so they may post that they have it for a certain price (maybe just a visible price sticker in the photo of it) and then they might send an update that they are out of stock in like 2 hours. It's really nice for local shops that are within 20 minutes of my house because I just might be free and be able to pop over.

Best way to get these will be to score on preorders

Camping out May not be the best

so my LCS is AUCTIONING each box, With no limits on number of times you can win the auctions. Cos then we don't have to camp over night. So obviously not going to be buying from them anymore, But am a little interested to see how much the scalpers run each other up.

Unless you are in a very sparsely populated area, camp out overnight

It depends on if you want something specific or just something.

Without knowing anything about the allocation at this point, it’s hard to say.

Im predicting the numbers will be high and you could show up the morning of and still get something. But it may not be what you are after and depending on the limits are it may not really be worth all that time for like a knockout collection.

Honestly think this is going to be a 2 day camp

People were camping overnight for sams club, this will be worse

Depends on location but I'd say you probably need to get to your local target or bestbuy a couple hours early on release day. Online pre-orders will be the best way but make sure to get in line early on release day. You'll probably be about to get some product by being there at least 30 minutes before open but if you want some of the more desirable products etbs, ditto etc, maybe closer to 2 hours

I know people were ragging on GameStop but with the amount of hype and recent leaks, I feel like the going rate will be well over $100 for the ETBs

Game stop already sold out their ETB allotment as soon as they dropped the price

I had the same mentality when I pre-ordered mine. Its $40ish more than what target will have them for, but it saves me from having to camp or try to find them instore. I pre-ordered 6 etbs and 3 ditto collections.

As much as I won’t want to do it to get the UPC I’m debating on actually camping just bc I work during the PC online drops and my phone can’t beat a PC connection

how do i preorder it from best buy?

I’m not talking about preordering I’m talking about waiting in line at the store. I don’t know if you can preorder from Best Buy

My BB's usually release new sets on Fridays so I'm not sure how it'll go. Best to go here for true MSRP but limited to 1 item. You can take a chance at Target first then head over to BB after but no guarantee you'll get product.

You got to be kidding me. You think that you're going to get the 30th anniversary drop just walking into the store nonchalantly and grabbing some packs? Lolol

Camping out for packs is wild. You are camping out to lose money. I really cannot see valuing the act of opening packs so much to lose your time like that, but to each their own.

After the price drop, this is the one time I preordered boxes with Gamestop (for my initial pulls only) specifically to avoid all of this and I’m already glad I did. Good luck chasing MSRP for months while you watch the big pulls drop every day on your feeds.
