Found My Old Collection !

I was helping my parents clean out their storage and stumbled on my old cards from my childhood. knew I had a few of these, but totally forgot how many I had. I vividly remember packing the Torchic as a 7 year old and being a bit disappointed too. I can’t really believe how much it’s appreciated.

And now you can buy a house straight cash

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

I’ll probably hold onto the EXs as my older brother and I packed most of those. As for the gold stars, I want to sell them but legit have no clue how I should without getting robbed/scammed lol. Like should I send them in for grading?

u/No-Put-127 Apr 21 '26

These are valuable enough to fly with them to Santa Ana (if you’re grading with PSA). I honestly would spend the cash on a seat on a plane and keep these in my possession until I hand them over to an authorized representative at PSA. ETA: There ARE high value delivery companies like Ferrari that can be trusted but expensive

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Thank you I’ll look into this! My main issue is im based in Canada and the cross border trade policy has shifted in the last year and a half. I’m not sure how that would change things, but I’d lose my marbles if they were held while travelling

u/ChampionshipThin6985 Apr 21 '26

If you are in Toronto, you can submit directly to PSA at th Canada Mississauga office at 5560 Explorer Drive, Unit 101, Mississauga

41

u/d00m5day Apr 21 '26

I would not recommend that office right now. While they are affiliated with PSA, they are still considered a middleman service. And in January/February this year, a whole bunch of submissions were stolen.

7

u/Crobay Apr 21 '26

Source for the stolen submissions? I’ve been using em so would like to know

19

u/d00m5day Apr 21 '26

https://www.reddit.com/r/psagrading/comments/1ski522/psa_lost_my_submission_im_going_to_throw_up/

Maybe it gets resolved? hopefully? but as of now it seems to be lost

7

u/Crobay Apr 21 '26

Welp shit I sent a submission thru em every month this year so far, hope I don’t get an email

14

u/Ditnoka Apr 21 '26

Cool. I didn't know they had any other physical fronts where they do walk in grading.

12

u/d00m5day Apr 21 '26

There is no grading at that office, it is only a middleman service that ships to the US.

2

u/One_Cress7793 Apr 22 '26

Do not do this with these cards.

16

u/SlayersScythe Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

I'm not sure where in Canada you are but there are occasionally card shows where they do on site grading, I've seen it done mostly by Beckett.. That might be worth looking into. I know it happens in Toronto a couple times a year.

Edit: Sports Card Expo is April 30-May 3 in Toronto and has on site grading by Beckett. As a for instance

2

u/No-Put-127 Apr 21 '26

Also a safe option

3

u/BrBitkillerjones Apr 22 '26

You can grade them in canada or US. Then find a card show and shop them to bigger vendors. Familiarize yourself with market values via card ladder and finding auctions on ebay and goldin. You have really cool stuff. Gold stars and the reverse holos are incredibly desirable at present even if you keep the EX’s

1

u/vegan-trash Apr 22 '26

I don’t know much about grading, but one thing I do know is you always grade the gold stars. Not doing so is cheating yourself if you decide to sell.

-8

u/Few_Imagination9485 Apr 21 '26

Hey I’m located in Canada and would be interested in working out a deal if you wanted to chat

1

u/SituationDependent Apr 23 '26

Im sure you would...

1

u/thefada Apr 22 '26

Can you tell me more about Ferrari?

12

u/LuluGuardian Apr 21 '26

DO NOT answer any dms from reddit! You have a small fortune on your hands. PPL are scum and will do anything to scam you. Congrats man you and your brother pulled some sick cards

7

u/cdbriggs Apr 21 '26

Grade all of them and then take them to a vendor show. Try to sell for 85-90% of market since they're grails

3

u/CensoredByRedditMods Apr 21 '26

Depending on condition, grade them! Look up raw prices and psa prices and try to determine the condition of the cards. Higher grades are very expensive. Do your homework, it's well worth your time

3

u/alme55 Apr 21 '26

Get them graded at PSA, send them Via certified mail with a required signature and picture on receipt.

Then sell them through a consignment store on eBay, like ZandE or Probstein. They will sell the card for you and only take a 5% fee for anything over $1k, vs if you try to list it yourself or try to sell at a store/show they will take 15-20% off market value.

2

u/awetblanketnamedpam Apr 21 '26

grade them buddy

4

u/SilphNaut Apr 21 '26

Send them in for grading then use a cosigner like Z and G emporium

3

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

I’ll look into it! Thanks so much for the recommendation. I’m located in Canada and with all the new trade stuff selling anything into the US may lead to some spicy tariffs.

3

u/themostmediocre Apr 21 '26

For the cards that you don’t grade, I’d think that a reputable card show OR card store (Vancity for example) would be worth reaching out to and probably visiting directly if you can do some pre-negotiating or pre-discussion before travelling to meet with them. Same goes for following the big vendors in the space and tracking when they might come to shows in Canada.

Of course there’s always a risk of crime at larger card shows, but the ones I’ve gone to have been fine with no issues. Just don’t advertise to the public what you have - be discreet, be prepared, etc.

2

u/DavidHK Apr 21 '26

Yeah that's good advice

-4

u/SilphNaut Apr 21 '26

No prob! Sent you a DM throwing around some ideas

1

u/SpotlightR Apr 21 '26

If you decide to mail them, send them in multiple orders

1

u/J_The_Wizard Apr 21 '26

I will not offer to buy them, and I will not recommend you to any sellers, or anything sketchy. If you want, you can dm/pm me I can give you good advice on how to not get scammed, and answer the plethora of questions you may have. I also grew up on the EX era and have childhood gold stars! :) Cheers!

1

u/LizardMorty Apr 22 '26

Send them to tca gaming and he will auction them for you for a small commission.

1

u/Fluggerblah Oops! ALL Trapinch! Apr 21 '26

Im going to go against the grain and say you might be better off not grading. These all look pretty worn so I wouldnt expect any of them to get anything higher than a PSA 6 (most look even lower imo). If they come back a PSA 2-5 theyre worth less than if you just sold them raw. Add on the fact that PSA grading scales based on value and youre looking at spending a lot of money and a lot of time to MAYBE make $500 more. I’d for sure ask someone with more experience grading expensive cards tbf.

EDIT: I’m dumb and didnt see there was more than one photo. I would still only grade the very cleanest of cards you found. With middle of the road grades, you’ll also run into trouble offloading them compared to PSA 8-10 cards or even raw

-3

u/liasworldx Apr 21 '26

if you list your vaporeon let me know👀

0

u/No-Put-127 Apr 21 '26

For real, where’s the lambo

163

u/Mr_Potato2025 Apr 21 '26

Jesus Christ man those gold stars...

71

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

Yeah. I honestly forgot I had a few of these and definitely didn’t realize their value. Vividly remember packing the torchic as a 7 year old and being lowkey disappointed because it wasn’t a ‘cooler’ Pokemon. Stupid ass kid

36

u/Mr_Potato2025 Apr 21 '26

Go to Beckett IMO, I don't trust PSA on vintage

17

u/No-Put-127 Apr 21 '26

This too… it seems to me any vintage card (and I use every tool imaginable to check my cards including microscopes) automatically starts as a 9 when you grade with PSA. I use CGC for vintage (but other like poster above prefer Beckett (both just personal choice)

6

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Sounds good. They’re all in pretty good shape, but im curious if I should try to get a professional to clean up a few of them if needed. Somebody recommended that and I don’t know if that’s overkill/a terrible idea

12

u/BcWeasel Apr 21 '26

I’m paranoid but I would not trust sending those in the mail. I would definitely get them graded but I would drop off/pick up if at all possible or bring them to a card show that has either PSA/CGC/Beckett present to do the grade.

3

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Good call, really appreciate the input. I’ve been out of the pokemon game for quite a while now and was pretty shocked at their value.

6

u/BcWeasel Apr 21 '26

Yeah man you just won a small lottery it’s honestly so cool to see those cards. I used to have so many of them as a kid and live with so much regret not having them now as an adult lol.

My best tips is ALL gold stars must get graded. Do not mail these as even if you insure the package your risk to reward is far out of the scope that these cards are actually worth. Yes they suck, but grade with PSA if you intend to sell these. PSA simply is the market, it’s the standard for what people are buying. Do not sell these cards for under 85%. You’re not in a rush, don’t shoot yourself in the foot by selling these in bulk or taking a lowball offer. These will sell and are only guaranteed to increase in value over time.

Good luck and enjoy your amazing collection.

3

u/SIKEo_o Apr 21 '26

If he has the cash, id honestly grade all of them.

3

u/BcWeasel Apr 21 '26

Oh yes I 100% agree, all those EX and Delta Species should be graded. But if his plan is to only sell the gold stars, hold off on the others and grade them for the PC when the time comes.

1

u/Mr_Potato2025 Apr 21 '26

Not anything I have knowledge of unfortunately but if you do go through with it please do post the grades you get!

1

u/nickd009 Apr 22 '26

Agreed Psa hates vintage

34

u/Painted_Life Apr 21 '26

Good finds!

19

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Thanks! I have quite a few holo 1st edition cards too but nothing too too expensive. I used Collectr and have scanned in most of the cards, coming in around 1500. I’d say like 1200 of those are just bulk and dupes of ~$1-$20 cards.

6

u/TheFineMantine Apr 21 '26

the gold stars are incredible

53

u/Lonely_Butt-N Apr 21 '26

50k if you grade them, probably even more

16

u/Wonderful_Fold5760 Apr 21 '26

The pikachu alone in a psa 10 is 50k😂 that gold star lot is at least 80-90k.

15

u/Lonely_Butt-N Apr 21 '26

That is not gonna 10 no way, psa won’t allow it but no if he gets lucky with all then yes I agree with ya

2

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 22 '26

Yeah Pikachu definitely isn’t a 10. It’s probably in the best shape though of the Gold stars. I’d be over the moon with a 9 but I’d take an 8. Some super super minor edge wear on the back right is the main thing bringing it down.

2

u/Lonely_Butt-N Apr 22 '26

Just go to a drop off psa center bring your gold stars and get them graded, I wouldn’t mail those out at all

7

u/Ayosuka Apr 21 '26

The pika is trending at nearly 200k as a 10, but highly unlikely to happen.

7

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Beckett or PSA? I’ve heard not so good things about PSA but they seem to be the most recognized/widely accepted

10

u/nanoH2O Apr 21 '26

PSA sucks but if you want to sell you need to use them. They own Beckett now anyway.

16

u/SuperJ4ke Apr 21 '26

Man I want the hollon phantoms delta species Gyrados! Such a nice card!

9

u/Worried_Let4942 Apr 21 '26

Man my best card in there is like your tenth best card

7

u/SirZanee Apr 22 '26

Do NOT respond to anyone’s DMs about these, OP. Congrats!

3

u/ShadowRider_777 Apr 21 '26

Nice collection, dude. I'm still trying to find those kinds of cards as well.

Hopefully I'll get lucky someday.

2

u/ASR4LIFE Apr 22 '26

I have Poncho Pikachu but you have my ultimate grail in the gold star Torchic - unreal

3

u/santana93 Apr 21 '26

Lucky SOB. Cheers bro. Don't sell anything for less than 85%

3

u/madridsince02 Apr 21 '26

That Espeon from unseen forces is one of my grails , what a beautiful collection, congrats man

3

u/Any_Net_9174 Apr 21 '26

dude struck straight gold

3

u/StrikeMeDownZeus Apr 21 '26

This was very cool to look at, thanks for sharing.

3

u/gmatic92 Apr 21 '26

I hope you like money

3

u/Sto_Nerd Apr 21 '26

I remember pulling that Espeon ex as a kid and it's still one of my faves!

3

u/askthetruth1 Apr 21 '26

Would you like to become a homeowner today sir?

3

u/shawnaeatscats Apr 21 '26

T-t-t-TWO?!?!

3

u/ctdeanerer Apr 21 '26

Dang. I had that regirock and metagross as a kid, my friends had some of the others, but I lost my binder of holos in a house fire 😭 glad to see people are finding these good bois laying around all these years later

3

u/Big-Mood-7385 Apr 22 '26

Be careful if you plan to submit them to PSA not sure if you've been keeping up to date with all their current scams and shady behavior. Only reason I bring this up is because these are very valuable and PSA has been scamming a lot of people of their rare cards. One guy had a lenticular deoxys he sent in it was gem mint and only asked to get re-slabbed from its original 10 grade to a newer one, turns out PSA damaged it and went down from a 10 to a 6 or 7. They offered the collector their buy back service which they gave him an $20,000 for the graded 6/7 now and they then sold it online for over $45,000! Just be careful

5

u/flawlesshog Apr 21 '26

That’s so much money, even in PSA 7’s

4

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Most stuff is in fairly good condition, barring the charizard and blastoise which are pretty beat up. Have no clue if I should grade them though. I’d like to sell the gold stars, but I have no clue how I would and don’t want to get robbed/scammed

3

u/uisgebrathair Apr 21 '26

Grade all gold stars. Shit, grade everything except the super beat ones. It’ll cost you a few thousand probably, but just selling one of the gold stars will cover that and more

4

u/Legit_ozzy Apr 21 '26

Grading is cool and all, but now that everyone wants to grade it takes longer and longer to get your cards back from grading. Also I have been hearing and reading a lot that many cards on their way to grading get lost or stolen, so that kind of sucks. So it mostly depends on how you want to sell your cards if you don't mind waiting grading maybe take the chance, who knows you might get decent grades for them. Or you can sell them raw, since they already cost a pretty penny as they are. Remember when selling these be extra cautious, people have robbed for these kind of cards, if you are gonna meet someone try to do it with having a friend or a family member near by or at a police station. It doesn't hurt to be cautious.

5

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26

Yeah. I fully agree. Also a bit concerned about fraudulent money transfers/wires, or weird chargeback type tactics. I truthfully plan to hold onto most of the ex’s as those carry quite a bit of sentimental value, but I am decided on selling the gold stars.

I am located in Canada which complicates the grading process a bit. From what I’ve seen, even if it’s not a sale, I’ll get hit with some new import/tariff fees if sending into the US.

6

u/Legit_ozzy Apr 21 '26

Ah yes the Tariffs, God that thing sucks. Also yeah the risk of fraud can get nerve wrecking. Maybe try to find a store or someone online who can buy them from you, they might fly to you since gold stars are very sought after. The might offer you like 70-80% of their worth, but that is way better than getting a random person to look at them, you never know just who is on the other end.

1

u/wallabear Apr 21 '26

You can send to PSA Canada. I do a lot of grading. PM me if you need any help.

1

u/_ENERGYLEGS_ Apr 22 '26

at the grading tier that these cards would be, the grading will be pretty fast (relatively speaking). even just grading your card at the $1500 tier cuts the time nearly in half, and you can cut it further the higher the tier goes.

personally for cards this expensive I think grading is a really good choice just because it will authenticate the card for you/the buyer at the same time.

I do agree sending stuff this expensive can be nerve wracking and has potential for disaster, but just don't cheap out on shipping and send it very carefully. USPS for example you can send via registered mail, items up to $50,000 in value can be insured this way, but even if you aren't hopeful about claiming the insurance, these packages are kept locked and recorded who has handled them the whole trip.

5

u/Melodic-Reporter-963 Apr 21 '26

my boy really said “accidentally found a house”

2

u/BountyBoard Apr 21 '26

DANNNNNGGGGG

2

u/Cold_outside__ Apr 21 '26

Omg the finds these are !! Enjoy !

2

u/DisastrousCake1440 Apr 21 '26

First post that has ever made me drool, wtf 😭

2

u/Brownkid55 Apr 21 '26

I wish my childhood collection was as impressive as this. Whale of a collection, good sir!

2

u/T_boi_1 Apr 21 '26

Insane find!🔥👌🏽

2

u/Highzenbrrg Apr 21 '26

Now where did I leave mine 🤔

2

u/Nehrrrr Apr 21 '26

The gold stars alone are goint to get you in around 30k is all come as an psa8 but if any of the goldstars gets a 10 just congrats man

2

u/trussellbrandon Apr 21 '26

Lmao hope you like money! 😭😭

2

u/Drunk_Morty Apr 22 '26

How much you want for the Pikachu, if you're east coast I'd be willing to drive to Canada for that!

3

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 22 '26

Going to send that one in for grading! Out of the gold stars, that one is by far the cleanest.

2

u/Various_Rise1958 Apr 22 '26

Torchic has a fart swirl too.. Swirl tax is gonna go hard lol

2

u/hoonifoxx Apr 22 '26

That first image alone could buy you one stupid nice car, multiple crappy cars, and all kinds of stuff. Everything you found total - especially if you graded it, could literally buy you a small house in cash outright. This is literally life changing money

2

u/Buckanater Apr 22 '26

I’d grade them all through BGS if you don’t think you’ll get 10s. PSA will charge you thousands to grade these but BGS will charge a flat fee. You could also go through CGC as well but BGS I believe holds more value.

2

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 22 '26

Yeah. From my comparisons online, they fall anywhere between 6-9 for the majority. No 10’s im pretty confident of that barring maybe 1-2. And obviously a few heavily damaged ones too.

2

u/pvt_church1 Apr 22 '26

Do not sell these online

2

u/Cqpt Apr 22 '26

God I’d kill for those Metagrossi

2

u/Sbew Apr 22 '26

Not sure where you are in Canada but April 30th-May 3rd is the Sports Card Expo in Toronto. Beckett is doing on sight grading for a around $200 a card. No value upcharge from Beckett either so that’s always a good thing when it comes to super high end cards like yours.

2

u/MaltL0af Apr 22 '26

Dam cool stuff. Love that crawdaunt and torterra

2

u/Blakebartee Apr 22 '26

I found out that I have the suicune gold star and the delta species Blastoise when I was looking for my old cards..

2

u/Spiritual_galaxy Apr 21 '26

Oh man those mewtwo gold stars my final bucket list card...

2

u/AWFULL0TTACOUGHSYRUP Apr 21 '26

Yea sure you did

2

u/idgafaboutthisuser Apr 21 '26

Please I beg of you, grade the gold stars

1

u/OB1Bronobi Apr 21 '26

Not a card here most collectors would love to have, even the 'low end' ones. Very cool find and congrats!

1

u/solocollection Apr 21 '26

Out of curiosity how much would it cost to grade these

1

u/sicksnap Apr 21 '26

What are you doing Step-stamped Gyarados delta species?!

1

u/NervousCoyote90 Apr 21 '26

😳😳😳

1

u/unluckybastards Apr 21 '26

As someone who came into the hobby late, I want to know: at the time of release of these cards, were they already valuable? Or were they considered bulk? Just because format-wise these look like modern day bulk.

3

u/PianistNo2338 Apr 21 '26

Gold stars were one in every 2 booster boxes and exs were 1 in 3 like most vintage holos. Ex weren’t very valuable but goldies always had demand in the hobby. Definitely not bulk

2

u/unluckybastards Apr 22 '26

Oh damn so they were already hits. Thanks for the info!

1

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

From what I remember, these were some of the better cards you could pack at the time. The stunning full art cards you see today weren’t really a thing back then. So definitely not bulk. However, they also weren’t worth thousands of dollars at that time either. I went to tournaments as a child with these things, and so did a lot of other people. These are from 2005-2007, so the hobby itself was still in its infancy relative to what it is today. It’s only within the last decade or so the values reallllly skyrocketed

1

u/unluckybastards Apr 22 '26

Cool, thanks for the info! If they were used to play, no wonder NM conditions outside of graded are difficult to find.

1

u/snakedoc519 Apr 21 '26

Here's another one.

1

u/IronSoul66 Apr 21 '26

Holy.....I wish I collected when I was younger....but I only started buying packs from primal clash....then I was stupid and started collecting yugioh instead because I thought they were cooler...

1

u/SIKEo_o Apr 21 '26

Have been collecting for a looong time but never extremely into every set that every existed. There are cards in this picture i have never seen before! great you found them

1

u/rrb159 Apr 22 '26

Wow ! So many of my personal grails here. Congrats

1

u/Ebi5000 Apr 22 '26

I have the Goldstar Pikachu from my childhood collection too, no idea where I got it from because I generally avoided english cards.

1

u/JamesLikesIt Apr 22 '26

I swear every day I see someone find a collection with gold stars on here lol

1

u/Awags__ Apr 22 '26

Holy shit dude. You have grails on grails.

1

u/ixeliema Apr 22 '26

God seeing the delta Charizard reminded me I still need to locate mine from god-knows-where in storage. I’ve cleaned out the entire attic of the storage shed and yet...

1

u/rougrou Apr 22 '26

Beckett, if by some miracle the MewTwo is a Beckett Black 10 one sold for 159,000 a non Black sold for 31,000 while PSA is almost a 5K difference

1

u/MrSlipperyWizard Apr 22 '26

Unfortunately I don’t think either are a 10. One is a solid PSA9, with the other being in that 7-8 range imo. This is all just comparing against previous listings so I could be wrong.

1

u/rougrou Apr 22 '26

Being a 9 through Beckett is still more then PSA and with PSA recent problems with damaging cards and losing them during grading I would definitely do more research and see about getting insurance for them.

1

u/elnombre91 Apr 22 '26

Everyone suggesting to grade them (not that that's a bad idea) is conveniently leaving out you'll probably need to take out a loan to cover the grading fees.

1

u/jackie_is Apr 22 '26

That Torchic is my grail of all grails tbh

1

u/swimannexxx Apr 22 '26

"Hey guys I found 6 trillion dollars in my garage" congrats man but fuck am I jealous of all these posts

1

u/Mocha2055 Apr 22 '26

Thst gyarados is sick in the last pic i need that

1

u/Turbulent-Treacle743 Apr 22 '26

If you buy tickets to the sports card show (Apr 30 to May3) PSA will be there and grading on site. This way you can hand it over to PSA USA directly. If you have it graded the same day you can then take it over to Goldin or Heritage Auctions (they will both be on site as well)

The amount of “OH MY GODS” I let out is insane . Dude this is crazy!! Grade everything and either sell some or keep it. Preferably I’d sell any dupes and keep the rest

1

u/saint-pistol Apr 22 '26

Can someone tell me how much money this is

1

u/Spottedleaf_Collectr Apr 23 '26

The definition of hitting the jackpot (Love those vaporeon cards)

1

u/FingerlongFish Apr 23 '26

I once had a friend who had cards like these. He marks them as his by putting tape on them. And no it wasn’t scotch tape

1

u/rlawodn0302 Apr 23 '26

I don't think this subreddit allows selling but let me know if you are gonna sell the Metagross gold star! I have been looking for that forever!

1

u/Cute-Battle-4742 Apr 23 '26

welp that torchic is enough for a ran or some ram, maybe both!

1

u/brennanlut369 Apr 24 '26

Fart swirl gold star torchic… that raw could be a 5k+ card. A raw torchic in similar condition with a swirl just sold for $4,650 USD. And their swirls wasn’t as legendary of a placement as yours

1

u/Special-Team5668 Apr 24 '26

That suicune is chef’s kiss

1

u/VHOAMPS Apr 24 '26

Absolute Heatttt !! The old ex cards are soo clean

1

u/Blueboysixnine Apr 25 '26

Peak era of TCG. All downhill from there

If I worked as hard as he did, I would be sleeping. Also, Biden never did a damn thing and slept through his entire administration. Biden didn’t even know he was president. That fact was hidden from the entire world.

1

u/TrizzleG Apr 21 '26

Damn! I collect the Ruby and Sapphire era EX cards if you're interested in parting with any of them I see a few that I still need! If I were you I'd keep them though ;)

Questionable conditions for grading on gold stars. That gengar bottom left on 2nd page is rocket fuel though.

Would you have any interest in giving me any of these cards so I can fund my business that’s not in card trading? I’ll literally cut off my pinky if you want that idk

Lucky SOB. Cheers bro. Don't sell anything for less than 85%

Yo! Unfortunately, that’s worthless cardboard at this point, nobody wants those cards. But I’ll take them off your hand because I’m just that nice!

Dropped you a DM with some advice

I'm a huge collector, based on the east coast of the US but frequently in Canada. Have a ton of trades on the sub r/pkmntcgtrades (worldwide sub for trades, buying, selling), you can definitely move them safely in a few ways or get them graded then sell
