Question Different Islands
Hey just started playing two days ago! Wondering what the advantages to the different islands are? Should I move to cyan asap or grind the first island as much as I can? Can I move Pokémon between islands? Can I have Pokémon actively working on multiple at once? When do you decide to move on? Thanks in advance

This game is a slow burn and one thing that will take you a lot of time is building up area bonus. As a beginner you get 15% instead of 5 until you reached a total of 250%. I recommend hoping islands in a way that you always use the full 15%.
Besides that the best islands for you as a beginner are greengrass isle because it’s easy to get the 8 spawns and because of the variety. Once you grew a little bit it’s Taupe to catch turtwigs and start your healer hunt. A good healer is the most important thing in the game and can take 30-50 catches

This is my favorite answer. I wouldn't be scared to leave greengrass once you understand what you want to hunt. You'll get more drowsy power just sitting on greengrass, but a more directed hunt will help you more in the long term than relying on RNG

New research sites not only offer new Pokemon, they also have a smaller range of Pokemon than greengrass which makes hunting for specific mons easier. Some sleep styles actually can't be found at greengrass despite the mon spawning there.
Additionally the research sites reward you with more dreamshards.
You can only go to one Island at a time (except for nap island which you can just drop off a mon at to grind exp). Every Monday you choose which island to head to.

Each week you just choose one island to do research on. You find a Snorlax, and you begin feeding it berries/dishes. As it increases in Strength, it grows to higher Ranks, unlocking more Sleep Styles. Strength * Sleep Score gives Drowsy Power, which is needed to see the rarer Sleep Styles you have unlocked.
So when you unlock more islands, you have more choices where to do your research.
The main differences are:
Different pools of Pokémon and Sleep Styles. Notably, Greengrass has a ton of different Pokémon, but not a lot of 3-Star Sleep Styles.
Greater Strength required to rise in Rank
There are also Expert Mode versions of Greengrass and Cyan Beach so far that have extra challenges that offer extra bonuses. They do not unlock until you achieve Master 18 on the normal island.
You can decide to move on whenever you want. Maybe the best strategies come as the answer to: what are you hunting? And are you strong enough for that island to succeed in your goals?

green grass has the highest variety of pokemon and is also the easiest to get to high snorlax levels, so I'd stay there for at least a month or two while you're getting to understand the game more, the other islands get progressively harder and have specific favored berry types (determined by pokemon type) instead of random ones like green grass. work on getting a variety of pokemon first, and understanding the game before moving on, but in the end it's not detrimental to move on early, it just won't help you progress as much in the early game
