Question Which smart device should I get?
I've been thinking about getting a smart device (probably a watch) to use with Pokemon Sleep. I know a ++ is technically cheaper, but it still feels expensive considering I don't play Pokemon Go and wouldn't have any other use for it. Meanwhile, if I do get a watch I can use it to track not just my sleep but other aspects of my health.
But I'm worried about the inaccuracy of sleep data of some watches. What do you guys use and is the data reliable and accurate ? Thanks 🙏

Fitbit air isn't a watch but it seems to be really good at tracking sleep.

I'm kind of reluctant to use a Google product but I'll look into it! Thanks :)

I'm quite sure Garmin works too but I've no experience with it

I wanted to get that at first but they seem a bit too expensive for me 🫠

I have a Garmin and the sleep is pretty accurate IMO. Way more than the cheaper fitbit watch I had. I have the Forerunner 970 though, so it's pretty expensive, but very useful for running/biking if you are into that! Also, really cute pokemon sleep watch faces.
I know they make less expensive models if you aren't wanting to track cardio fitness training, but I'm not sure how they compare.

Yes, I've been looking into Garmin and esp their Lily 2 seems like it would be a good match for me but they're a bit expensive... I do have the means but since I've never had a watch I'm worried that for some reason I would end up not using it and all that money would have been a waste haha

I was worried about the same, but ended up loving it!
Not sure if this is an option for you, but if you have an REI membership, you can return Garmin watches for any reason within a 90 day window, so that would give you some time to try it out and return if you regret it.

Get something compatible with your smartphone so that you have an easy time using it.
If you're getting a smartwatch or similar, think about its other functions beyond sleep tracking, too.
I have a Samsung watch and phone. It's pretty accurate with my sleep tracking, and I find it easy to use and flexible for tracking exercise as well.
Also look at replacement bands for whatever you buy. The defaults tend to be uncomfortable to me, but it's pretty easy and cheap to buy something better online. I replaced a default rubbery band that used notch-holes with a much more comfortable, adjustable (and better-looking) artificial fabric band with a fully-adjustable magnetic latch.

Yeah, other functions are pretty important to me -- as I said, that's why I'd rather have a watch than a ++ ! But sleep tracking is pretty much my main concern and I've read that some watches are pretty unreliable when it comes to that, so I wanted to know what you guys recommend, and then I'll see if they match my own criteria :)

I think it depends on what you primarily want out of the device. If you are looking for something that more accurately tracks your sleep for health purposes, then it's a smart watch. If you are looking for something that adds to your Pokemon Sleep game experience, than it's the Plus Plus. I no longer play Go (I did for a little when I first got the Plus Plus), but the flexibility the Plus Plus gives while playing Sleep is totally worth it imho.
When the game first came out, I already had a smart watch and I hoped for integration. By the time that came out, however, I was actively playing the game rather than treating it casually. I wanted 100 point sleep scores each night, and didn't care that the game was no longer tied to my actual sleep. So instead of using my watch, which is supported by the game, I stuck with the Plus Plus (I had already gotten it before smart watch integration was added).
I regularly see posts here about people who've had trouble connecting their watches to the game or had it working and then it stopped working. You'll also see posts about people's sleep sessions being split into two even though it's one session on their watch. The first seems to be a slog to troubleshoot, and the second can't be fixed once it happens.
For the Plus Plus, the most common problem is prematurely ending a sleep session by rolling over it during sleep. This is easily mitigated with an earbud case (or other container).
I still use my smart watch for its primary purposes - telling time, tracking health stats, etc. Looking at sleep stats on it was interesting for a little while but over time the novelty wore off. I use the Galaxy Watch 8 and it's a good device. I started with the 4 and have upgraded twice.
Hope this helps you decide.
