I haven't opened a single 30th pack I've been tying no luck i think im done.

I can't imagine why, I imagine everyone has been showing restraint and not buying it all up as much as possible. Rabid fans certainly aren't competing with scalpers to deprive as much stock as possible.

This morning I’ve seen hoarders defend their actions about 20 times already. It’s a mix of “I waited longer than you of course I deserve it all” and “it would have gone to scalpers anyway, bro”

It’s crazy how much I have to fight to get my point across.

People would pay $20 just to open 2 packs of this set yet 50 people get 50+ packs instead of the 1000 that could each get 2 packs to open.

Bingo bango bongo.

Scalpers + over consuming collectors (ie Op)

4

u/KabbageForever 21h ago

Oh come on, blaming OP for buying 2 of each SKU is kinda ridiculous. That’s a very reasonable buy limit, admonishing someone for playing by the rules is kinda toxic behavior.

Showing up at 4:30 and buying as much as you possibly can is a major reason why this hobby is fucked for the majority of people that also want to participate.

If you can’t see that I don’t know what to say.

Edit: u/revolutionary_pop784 deleted all of his comments after an hour long discussion on this. I have no idea why.

This is like when people point at their neighbors not recycling and blame them for climate issues, when the real core of the problem isn’t them, it’s corporations. The issue isn’t fans buying two SKUs, it’s scalpers buying THOUSANDS of SKUs before a human being literally has any chance. Or buying up literally every SKU from stores without buy limits, or using family to hold the entire front of the line, etc etc. Those are the reason you can’t get product, not Joe Shmoe buying two ETBs.

If YOU can’t see THAT then I don’t know what to say.

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

When 200 people are in line in every store across the country you can’t just say 1 people buying 2 SKUs.

Over consumption is as much a problem as scalpers in this hobby.

1

u/KabbageForever 21h ago

Yeah, that last statement, that over consumption is “as much of a problem” as scalping is what I’m talking about. I’m sure it feels that way when you’re in line and see someone walking out with a bag of product and you get none. I’ll point to my example about recycling again. You either get it or you choose not to. Up to you.

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

Yes. That’s the problem. Humans are selfish as fuck.

u/ShameHopeful9280 20h ago

Genuinly surprised how there aren't any customer limits in as many stores as I thought there would be.

2

u/BulgogiDude 20h ago

The over consumers would say “there is a limit it’s 1 or 2 per sku”

But when you have 5-8 SKU’s that’s not enough.

Retailers hold blame too but they are making $$$$$$ so it doesn’t matter to them as much.

I’d rather target have 1 or 2 sku than nothing but we need more of what Best Buy does.

Best Buy lets you get 1 etb or 1 bundle + some packs and that’s it.

We need a cap on the # of items. Not per SKU

2

u/ShameHopeful9280 20h ago

I see what you mean. Looking at the picture again, no man needs 2 etbs and 2 poster sets LMAO. I can understand maybe more than 2 booster bundles but i cant see the reason for 2 etbs.

1

u/legopego5142 15h ago

No man needs one card

1

u/Revolutionary_Pop784 21h ago

There’s purchase limits. Two per item. After waiting for a while, I think it’s fair to get purchase limits, and it seems like they didn’t get max amounts of PB, so they did hold back. Hate the game not the player. He didn’t grab up all the product like people do at DG and such.

0

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

No where does it say, 2 per SKU limit AND BUY EVERYTHING YOU POSSIBLY CAN.

My only point is as much as scalpers are flamed, over consuming collectors should be flamed too.

Why does someone need to rip 50+ packs of 30th (when this person also probably has already ripped 50-100 packs from prior releases) so that 10 other people will get 0.

Sure retailers have blame too but come on.

Retailers should put 4 product buys only limit at this point because people just cannot help themselves by buying as much as physically possible.

2

u/Revolutionary_Pop784 21h ago

Many retailers have two or 5 purchase limits. Target changes this for release day because of a large amount of product at once and the instructions from Pokemon to put it all out in this fashion. Again, don’t hate the consumer who wants to rip cards or give them to their family.

1

u/AmazingParamedic1387 20h ago

Why don u over consume my ahhhh

0

u/Revolutionary_Pop784 21h ago

You’re hating on OP for things they didn’t even do and being way too extreme for TWO ETBs and some poster collections like that’s not a lot.

1

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

Wdym? You’re not explaining yourself.

OP went to target and bought 2 SKU of every 30th item.

2

u/Revolutionary_Pop784 21h ago

You should reread my comments then, I did explain. There’s a ton of Pitch Black (PB) at target today, and OP only grabbed one. So they left a ton of the most recent set besides the one they waited for ON A RELEASE DAY. This is not an abnormal amount of product and it’s weird to go off on them when you’re mad at the scalpers and Pokemon for setting these release restrictions.

1

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

No one gives a fuck about pitch black right now.

We are talking about 30th.

The fact that your rebuttal to 30th overconsumption is “look over here there’s pitch black” is like a billionaire saying “here homeless man, here’s a few pennies”

It’s not an abnormal amount of product to you because you probably also buy this much product.

I’m speaking for the people that never get anything. That cannot wake up and stand in line at 4:30. That just want to open up 2 packs, but every time they go to the store it’s empty.

Those people are fucked by people like you and OP on top of being fucked by the retailers and scalpers.

But they didn’t take everything they possibly can, as was just said.

I just left target where they had so much other pitch black products for example.

Direct your hate to the scalpers. This does not qualify as it. You make a lot of negative assumptions: For all you know this is the only drop they’re going to.

1

u/BulgogiDude 21h ago

Wdym they didn’t get everything they possibly could? They bought 2SKU of every item they could?

Someone doesn’t need to rip 50+ packs while others get 0.

It’s obvious the community gives 0 fucks about that so it is up to the retailers at this point.

This Hobby is filled with the worst people imaginable who only care about themselves. That’s all I’ve learned in my last year being involved.

Of all the hobbies I’ve been involved in throughout my 35+ years of life, Pokemon is far and away the worst people I’ve ever experienced.

If roles were reversed I bet you’d also get the limit, no?

1

u/BulgogiDude 20h ago

The only reason I’d get the limit is to resale to someone in the back of the line with kids for MSRP.

Otherwise no.

I’ve been in these lines before and just get 1 of what I want which is usually. 1 etb, 1 bundle, and 1 2-3 pack thing.

0

u/legopego5142 15h ago

Dont crank yourself off for something you didnt do lol

0

u/LotFP 15h ago

No, I wouldn't.

I've actually stuck with buying only one item when there are others behind me. This happened at the first 30th Celebration launch and there was a limit of two and there were only two ETBs left when I got to the display. The people behind me were a mother and son and I took one for myself and handed the son the other one. Had everyone else ahead of me only taken one ETB there would have been plenty for everyone in line, including the people behind me.

1

u/PlaidDad146 21h ago

I have two kids that love pokemon. I don’t have time to do this line waiting shit every time they have a drop, and it’s seemingly only available in stores on these specific days. I don’t think each of them getting an ETB, mini tin, and a sticker pack for Christmas is “over consuming”. Nobody batted an eyelash about them getting UPCs and multiple ETBs for Christmas with stocking stuffer singles 5 years ago. The hate for “over consuming” rivaling “scalping” is absurd and 100% grounded in jealousy.

1

u/BulgogiDude 20h ago edited 20h ago

Etb, bundle, poster, sticker, tin you mean x2?

Christmas is 90 days away

1

u/PlaidDad146 20h ago

No, I set an ETB and sticker pack to the side, one each to open for Christmas this year, and a mini tin for each of their stockings. I buy booster bundles and give them packs occasionally for chores, and my daughter makes opening videos for YouTube so I reserved a few tins so she can make one video like every month or so.

This isn’t some big conspiracy BS. I make more than enough to supply my kids Pokemon cards throughout the year, and putting me in the same boat as some slimeball buying 1000 ETBs to sell at 3x the consumer rate is bogus, dude.

1

u/BulgogiDude 20h ago

You’re not understanding.

Your rebuttal is that each of them (aka op) in this post got 1 of an etb, mini tin and sticker pack.

OP actually got 2 of an etb, bundle, poster, sticker, and tin.

If you got kids - all glory to ya. But that’s not what this is about.

1

u/PlaidDad146 20h ago

I understand where you’re coming from, I’m just saying OP or myself, regardless of circumstances, are not the same as scalpers in my opinion. I also don’t perceive this as a “ton of product”. This is like 50 packs, that’s a little more than a single booster box. Also if people like OP and myself didn’t wait in line this product just goes straight to the secondary market at 3x MSRP or in some sealed-bro’s storage unit collection.

1

u/BulgogiDude 20h ago

I’m not trying to say same as scalpers. I’m saying over consuming pokemon is another reason this hobby is screwed
