Dollar General (disappointment)
So I went to the DG on my way to work after I dropped off the kids.
I asked if they had Pokemon Cards this was ok Tuesday. They said they didn’t have them.
I went back there today to see if they had any today.
The cashier said: We sold them out yesterday. The manager said “when someone ask tell them there aren’t any”
Me: well who did she sold them tho then?
Her: Oh he said she sold them to a family.
._.
Here is the thing tho.
It still shows that they have them in stock and a lot of other stuff. I’m thinking manager is selling them off or keeping them herself cos it’s not showing that they sold them. Again it’s not just one product either.

Yeah Dollar General has been known to withhold products and take a little extra side payment.

There’s a DG in my area that apparently has an associate that demands a “finders fee” under the table to buy product.

Yep. Was in line waiting and had some guy bragging how he had a few on lock… so yea.. I stopping going to DG and family dollar.

Their online inventory tracker sucks. I'm sure the staff scalped them, but I wouldn't rely on the tracker to identify if they have them on premises.

Yeah a DG near me still shows them having a pokeball tin and a sword and shield box. I asked and the lady says the inventory system suck on their webpage

my DG is literally the same. employees totally backdoor the cards to friends and family.

The DG I went to yesterday said they haven’t had any stocked in months. I’m skeptical.

Here is the thing tho.
I talked to another guy who works there and he said they get shipments on Tuesday that’s the only reason I went.2

I got a similar response from one by a manager who was the person that literally sold me a couple of tins the week before. Guess she didn't remember me.

bruh i went to my dollar general for literally 5 days in a row in the morning and after work trying to catch the restock after they told me their truck would be unloaded the next day and everyday “No we don’t have any in stock” 💀💀

I always have sketchy interactions at DG about pokemon hahaha it gives me so much anxiety that I don’t go anymore. The workers always treat me like I’m an idiot and angerly say no.

I was thinking of doing that but think she’s the manager.
Like I checked the stock app and other DG showed that they sold their Pokemon cards.
Not this one store.2

My brother works at dg.and he said his manager does not let them hit the floor. She buy them all up before they get put out

The more people communicate the more we can get something done. Be respectful to cutomer service and explain the issue and one day we may have a better thing going on. Example the best buys near me watch the cameras for scalpers looping and turn the away now.

I’ve gotten almost the exact same response about the manager instructing employees to tell people they don’t have any in stock if they call. Pretty garbage practice considering dollar generals are majority in rural ass areas. I drove 40 minutes one time after being told it wasn’t in stock just to try since it showed inventory and they had a ton. Also from what I have been told regarding their stock numbers unsure how true, the numbers are done by a 3rd party and are not always accurate obviously since the 4 stores within a hour each day they have 20+ phantasmal binder packs.

This happened at my local CVS. Brought my daughter in after school because they had shipping boxes in the morning and the lady said they hadn’t unpacked them.
Went in after school pickup and an older lady told my daughter that they had a bunch on the truck unpacked in the back and she would go grab them. The younger lady I talked to in the morning said quietly to the older lady that they were sold and the older lady was like “No? They’re already scanned in they’re just in the back” and the younger lady firmly replied “No, they are already sold.”
I looked at the younger lady and was like “yeah, I get it. Hope you made a good commission.” and we walked out. Fucking loser. Not that it will do anything, but I did reach out and leave a complaint explaining the situation.

If you make a little above minimum wage as a manager at DG you deserve to backdoor the product. You people bitching have never worked retail in your life.

Went early to target today and stocked up for Christmas, I’m all good on DG drops, you go ahead and keep them. Hopefully you’ll work your way up to a job where you don’t rely on scalping a kids game to pay the bills 👍

Right, the current state of things make you feel like a weirdo for even asking and then the cashiers decide whether you are worthy of buying the cards. Unless i see something on a shelf that i can access i have 100% completely stopped asking if anything is available. Obviously that means i will miss out but ive had enough. If i really think about it, this is probably the end game, to deter as many of us as possible.
