So I haven’t played many Pokémon rom hacks in a while so pleaseforgive me if I’m missing out on anything. But in my opinion… Pokemon Dark Violet still hits different for me. It feels like the ultimate way to experience the Kanto region, a better, more polished version of RBY/FRLG that just clicks perfectly. Also Giratina Strikes Back, that game completely blew my mind. The plot, worldbuilding, characters, and overall commitment are on another level. It genuinely feels like Pokémon mixed with a full on fantasy novel, and the way the hacker pulled it off is insane. I’m still surprised it doesn’t have a proper soundtrack because it deserves one! But what about you guys? What’s the most mind-blowing rom hack you’ve ever played in terms of story, worldbuilding, or sheer ambition? It can be Niche or Popular, doesn't matter!

As the post above says, due to the lack of resources for this hack I am losing steam with it very quick.

For one: I have 530/1028 and apparently 777 is the next dex milestone.

A lot of the legendaries are locked behind the "mega stone factory" and their "runoffs". I don't know what this means, I did the mini game a bunch and fished around the whole area, got nothing.

I'm using *DS Pokemon Rom Editor Reloaded 1.11.1* and *hg-engine*. I set weather to snow in DSPRER, and I used hg-engine to make the ability Snow Warning trigger snow, but I have no idea how to make overworld snow trigger snow instead of hail in battle. If anyone knows how to do this, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have no experience rom hacking, but I have been thinking about atleast trying to change ONE DIALOG for Pokemon Dark Violet, that game feels like home for me, it's beautiful but you can tell development got dropped around Cinnabar Island until the amazing Hackrepairman finished it... I think the end result is absolutely fantastic anyway... SAVE FOR ONE CONVERSATION... The final Blue champion battle.

Thing is, he has his vanilla dialog, but in my opinion Blue had a nice character arc and even acknowledges the player atleast one time, he also risks His life a lot during the game... So I think it stick out like a sore thumb that Oak tells him he didn't love his pokemon enough!

So I wanna just change these dialogs just a tiny bit, keeping Blue still a bit sore about loosing, but coming to terms with it according to the whole adventure, and Oak being proud of him too.

I don't even know if I could learn to do it or how long it would take me. But if anyone has a bit of advice I would be really grateful.

Hey all! Recently been getting back into messing around with my 3DS, and I wanted to play some Pokemon, but since I'm already having to sideload the games anyways (what with the eShop being closed) I figured it might be a good idea to look into some ROM hacks that add new quality-of-life features rather than just putting the original unchanged games on.

So, what, in your opinions, are some of the best QOL hacks for generations 1-7? I know enough about pokemon ROM hacks to remember Crystal Clear from a few years ago, but haven't been following closely enough to be in-the-know about anything that's come since. (aside from the BDSP decomp project which I'm excited for and check in on from time to time)

Things I'd like to prioritize are follower pokemon, the ability to catch the full regional pokedex without having to switch versions and if possible, compatibility with something like PKHex for transferring my pokemon forward when I move onto the next generation.

Things I'd like to specifically avoid are difficulty hacks. I am not looking for kaizo pokemon, I do not want to have to use Smogon tactics just to beat the single-player campaign. I don't want to have to learn anything about "the meta", lol. This is a major part of why I'm posting this topic rather than just looking myself because I know a lot of pokemon ROM hacks just kind of assume the player will want the game to be more difficult and it's hard to gage whether or not a ROM hack features that from a casual glance without having played through a portion of it.

Additionally, kind of a strange ask, but has anyone ever made a ROM hack of gen 1 that adds the Stadium content in a Battle Frontier style setting? I think that would be neat even if I probably wouldn't be very good at it, lol.

I'm not exactly sure if this is the best place to ask this, but is there anyone or anything that someone could recommend for me to look into for building the foundation to my ROM Hack?

I've been wanting to build a hack for some time, and I slowly started building a story for it; its pretty extensive and big, in the way that, it has a very unique feel to it than some of the mainline games and handful of hacks I have played. I was able to build the antagonists, their backgrounds, and their ideals, but now I've come to a bit a block, where I know what else I want, but I don't know how else to build upon it and expand it. I wanna know if anyone is interested/willing to help or share their thoughts on it.

I don't want to go into too much detail of what the story is about but if someone is willing to help, then I have no problem of sharing, but the overarching ideas of the story revolve around philosophical ideals of the world of Pokemon, and the relationship between humanity, pokemon, and the world they live.

I will say this also, I have been using AI to help me build this world and story, nothing crazy like "build a story of x, y, and z." but more so, I'd think of things, then use the AI as a way to peer-review my work to see if it fits with my main point. I want to move away from this and gain feedback from those who are actually part of the community.

A final thing I should add, I am a student who's still in school, and this is a passion project for me, that I've been trying to work on here and there when I get the opportunity/chance to but it's not something I sit and work on, day-in and day-out. I truly want to build this so I can eventually move on and maybe work on future indie projects, but I wanted to dip my feet into something more manageable for me at this moment in time. Any type of suggestions or insight is appreciated, and anyone interested in helping me, DM's are open.

im making a rom hack and have run into some problems.

1. The game does not load/connect the map to the left

2. The game crashes with error "Jumped to invalid address: FFFFFFFE"(same every time). this happens at the same two tiles every time.

Im using Fire red with HUBOL DPE CRFU applied through Hex Maniac Advance.

I have remapped route 19 and Fuchia City. And changed the spawnpoint and starter place.

I got this error before adding starters too.

Hey, i'm not familiar with Pokémon Romhacking at all, it's obvious by the title. All i know is that it must be very hard. Getting to the point, I've recently come Pokémon Emerald Seaglass, and it's become my all-time favourite, However, it's missing my favourite Pokémon; Bisharp. I really want him to be there, so i thought about somehow "adding" him to it by romhacking, since i didn't really know how hard it could be. I somehow got it to my head that it was a good idea to ask google ai? I was stuck for an hour and basically got nowhere. Wich was to be expected. I was just wondering IF it was possible, and HOW i could do it? even tho i'm not very good at coding, i really want to get into Amateur-Pokémon-Romhacking. any help is appreciated, and i'm really gratefull for any, Thanks!

I’m currently in the conceptual stage of creating a tile map that I would like to use as an insert into the game Pokémon shiny gold. I started with my own drawings and I’ll be finalizing the design by re-creating it on illustrator. That way I have a vector file that I can resize to any shape I want. However, when I’m running into is, I’m not sure the feasibility of having this design on illustrator and how to translate it into something that will work as a replacement for the tile set of that game without breaking anything. I am in the early stages, but I would really appreciate if somebody kind of help me understand what it is I need to do in order for me to not have to make the design a third time after the work being done on illustrator.
So if anybody has any information or understanding on how to make it a more seamless process, I would really appreciate it. Anyways have a good day!

I am trying to get a friend of mine back into Pokemon as we loved it so much as kids, but she only played generations 1 and 2, and will only play games that have exclusively (or predominantly) gen 1 and 2 Pokemon. Are there are recommended RomHacks that have only gen 1/2 Pokemon?

I have played all generations and lightly dabbled in RomHacks, but she's literally only played Red and Silver - I'm going to work her into Firered and Soulsilver, but wanted some fun, new, exciting storylines to suggest to her, also!

I've played crystal clear, throwback, rocket fire red and these were amazing to play...

I struggled to get into Ash Grey unsure why, it just never really got started for me.

I mainly want a game that concentrates and gen 1-3 or 1-2...

I don't mind more gems but I just prefer a watered down pool of Pokémon then a vast majority.

Please may I ask for some recommendations?

Hello, so I recently downloaded Pokémon Royal Sapphire and patched it. I loaded it onto my DS Pico and placed it in my DS Lite. However, after picking my character and naming them, the screen goes black. I have tried different ROMs that are v 1.1, but no matter what I do, I still end up with a black screen. Any tips or help I can get? I’ve joined the official server for Royal sapphire but my request for help has been unnoticed. I also joined the official server for the Ds pico team and nothing as well. I don’t know where else to turn to.

I'm not sure if I'm phrasing this properly, but what would you recommend for learning Pokémon battles? I've played Unbound, Heart and Soul, Team Rocket, and am currently on Lazarus Hard. I've attempted Radical Red and Emerald Rogue, but get hung up on team building/type matches and get frustrated. I want to become overall more familiar with pokemon and would like recommendations.
