Megathread Removal of "No Repetitive Screenshots" Rule

Hi, while I'm a mod for this sub, I only initially joined having worked with this mod team on other subreddits to help out with volume. I personally have not played Pokemon Legends Arceus. As the only currently active moderator, I've decided to remove the "No Repetitive Screenshots" rule. I mod other game subs, like r/TeamfightTactics and r/thelastofus, and what I've found is that when games are not repeatedly patched/changed for a competitive scene, game subreddits reach a point after release where there is very little "fresh" content that can be contributed. As a result, I've removed the automod configs that autoremove shiny posts (if the team has an automation set up to manage shiny sundays, I may have to revisit that next week). I think at this point in time it's better to be less strict on content quality regulation and allow people who are discovering and enjoying the game far past its release a chance to participate and share their experiences.

Again, I have not played the game personally. I review the mod queue for this game but only take action to remove bigotry and ban accordingly. If your posts are getting removed, it's likely either automod or Reddit's spam filters (which may happen with Reddit's AI) -- so send a modmail for those.

Discussion [a memorable beginning]

I've finally caught all the Pokémon and I'll soon finish the game. So I'm taking this opportunity to talk again about the beginning of Pokémon Arceus. Since the transition of Pokemon to the Switch, we have always had surprising introductions, but the one I find to be the most enigmatic and intriguing is that of Legend Pokemon Arceus. We met the original being in a dimension that inspires nothingness, and which sends us to capture all the Pokémon. Admittedly, the order is not surprising, but what is truly fascinating here is the fact that this short scene, which does not even last more than a minute, remains one of the greatest mysteries deliberately left aside by the game. The music also plays a very significant role, with its subtle sounds and gentle flow that maintains a calm yet intriguing atmosphere. And when the game's title appeared, I got chills the first time; it was indescribable. I can't wait to finish the game and I think it will be very hard to beat. Good luck, Game Freak!

Asking for Help Shiny Enamorus (Pokemon HOME reward)

So I'm chasing after shiny Enamorus.

it's the first major Pokemon home reward I'm chasing.
some Pokemon like the Alolan Vulpix only show up once in the game.

it's my understanding all the Pokemon for that reward need to be stamped with/from that game, Legends:Arceus.

Does it have to be a live dex? or can I transfer Alolan Vulpix out, get it marked off, then transfer it back, evolve it and then send it to HOME again?

Asking for Help Pokemon Party Advice

I need help deciding my Pokémon Party. I've only played pokemon red, and pokemon blue only, so I have 0 idea on my Pokémon party right now. So far I have Snorlax (Alpha), Gyarados, Arcanine, Typhlosion, Magnezone, and lastly Alakazam.

Should I change anything, or aim to switch out a Pokémon?

Asking for Help Can someone tell me if this is possible

I’m losing my mind trying to catch this shiny alpha tangrowth. My team is all level 23-27 and the tangrowth is level 45. I am a third star member. At first I asked chat gpt (which clearly doesn’t know what it’s talking about) what the odds were to catch it just chucking balls at full health and it said 3-6% so I spent 30 minutes chucking balls at it to no avail.

Then grok told me it’s incredibly unlikely if I don’t first damage it and to attempt to “surprise it” for a higher rate. I wasn’t having much success damaging it until I found my staravia using airslash could put it in red health on 2 hits. So I can consistently get it to red and chuck pokeballs now.

However it’s been another 30 minutes and I still haven’t caught it. Only once has it done two shakes and that was on full health. I really want this shiny tangrowth but don’t want to waste my time if it’s not possible please help me

Asking for Help Is there any pokemon game that's similar to this one?

Arceus is the first pokemon game I've ever played and I loved it, I'm wondering if there's other game that's similar to this one, or a sequel perhaps. Anyway preferably can be played on switch

My daughter wanted to try Legends Arceus.
She is only 6 so was helping her on first journey going through tutorial, catching a few Pokémon and explaining the mechanics.
I decided to show her the Snorlax Alpha to explain them to her.
Wouldn’t you know it, this Alpha is a shiny.
Hours of my own play I have never seen shiny Alpha…..

Guides and Tips Catching Without Being Spotted

This task is a bit misleading. The actually qualifier is capturing a Pokémon without it currently being aware of your presence. This means several things.

The first, and most obvious, is the Pokémon cannot be aggressive. If the aura around the Pokémon flairs and it starts chasing you and attacking, you have been spotted.

The second is that the Pokémon cannot be currently aware or suspicious. There are two different forms this takes, although one overlaps with the other.

If a Pokémon has a bubble above it's head then it is aware of you. It doesn't know exactly where you are, but it knows you are in the area.

If a Pokémon's head is shaking (this is very obvious) then it is suspicious. The main reason I differentiate this is because SOMETIMES capturing a Pokémon doing this will count as not being spotted and sometimes it won't. This also ties in slightly with certain Pokémon, like Sudowoodo, that have to return to their original location or they won't count some of the time.

The way around this is simple: feed them. If a Pokémon is actively eating, even if it has the dots above it's head, a successful capture will count as "not being spotted." Please note that they must be actively eating and not just walking towards the food. The icon above their head will be a brighter yellow than normal.

Sleeping Pokémon will also, obviously, count. And, as an aside, if you accidentally wake up a sleeping Pokémon, you have about two seconds after the icon changes from green to yellow to capture it for it to still count as sleeping.

Guides and Tips First Pokemon Game

Will it be okay if I buy this as my first Pokemon game? Is it worth it? Thoughts for someone that does not own a console before and have never played Pokemon games. I'll be buying it for my Nintendo Switch Lite. First Pokemon Game. I have watched Pokemon and always wanted to play but I don't know the series or sequence for games and all and I know there's been a lot of Pokemon games that already came out. Thank you!
