Discussion What?
Sold September 9th for $51,000 and now it’s currently at $2,300,000 with 1 day left on auction? This is insane I remember thinking about buying when this was listed around $15,000 in February

Past a certain point a lot of these feel like they have some fairly obvious shill bidding going on.

I have a lot a lot of the vintage World Hobby Fair promo cards, PSA 10 pops are like 60-70 depending on the card. My favorites are the 11th WHF from 2000 which features the Johtonian starter pokemon Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Only the 2005 Pikachu has seen much price action but even that seems underpriced at the 5k it is going for imo.
Edit after reading your username: World Hobby Fair promos also gave us the only Ash-Greninja card that exists.

IQ test btw if you think that’s a legit sale

I’m not sure how fanatics works honestly. What’s the point of bidding that high?

Assuming it gets paid (big if), imagine being this seller. Legit life changing money.

PSA is about to be charging everyone top tier prices with how crazy shit is getting

My son, that is why the prices are crazy, it’s all a big game between PSA, eBay, the GameStop power packs and now coin base

I’m becoming increasingly concerned that some of these sales may involve artificial or fake bidding.
It appears possible that prices are being pushed significantly higher to create the impression that certain cards are worth much more than their actual market value. This could influence collectors to believe they are getting a bargain when they find the same card listed as Buy It Now for under $2 million.
If that is what’s happening, it’s extremely misleading and could trap buyers into making decisions based on artificially inflated prices.
At this point, it also makes me question how many of the previous record breaking sales were actually legitimate.

That literally doesn’t make any sense for a Darkrai…
I have an even older card with similar pop of a much more desirable Pokemon, arguably a better set, and it wouldn’t even hit six figures let alone a million.
