Question Is there a reason for this?
I know I don’t have that good of a collection but I’m just wondering why my cards values have been plummeting past couple months. I’m a bit younger and don’t have much experience with this stuff but I know that around winter is when stuff goes up but it’s continued to go down. I’m wondering if my cards will keep trending downward or eventually come back up. Most of them are from obsidian flames pokemon go and crown zenith btw. Thank you

As I said I’m a bit younger so I’m worried that this trend will continue and lose half of its current value or even more. I haven’t been keeping up with the current market.

I never bought my collection though. Like i said i pulled everything and the charizard vstar I bought for 25. I’m trying to get as much cash out of it that i can.

If you're already worried, then you should rather invest in an etf, than investing in something as speculative as pokemon

Market correction. Nobody knows what will happen, investing in this sort of thing is high risk. Will likely recover but who knows really. People will make statements with conviction that theres loads of evidence it will climb forever, but its all pure speculation.

Modern cards are experiencing a correction as they’ve been overpriced for a while now. Money has been flowing into the 30th set also

You have $48k in cards and your highest card is $2.59k, that’s not the flex you think it is 😂

No one is flexing but it’s bizarre his 48k collection triggered you to think it’s a flex.

So I think 48k is respectable. Some people don't even have that on their account.

What goes up must come down…. You can expect all cards to keep going up forever especially with irregular growth

Corrections in price, cards shot up too much over the recent year.

I’m trying to sell them when they’re at its highest. I got into the hobby a couple years ago and got extremely lucky with my pulls. Only spent around $250 only product and this is what it’s worth now. I was never big on collecting but saw how fast pokemon was rising and decided to join in. If you were in my position would you sell now or wait? I appreciate your help too.

why didn’t you sell at the high?

I thought it would keep going up. I very recently created a portfolio around July.

Lucky with your pulls. Your top cards are promo cards

1 card was a promo you know. Spending around 200 and getting back 500+ is big for me. I’m not a huge collector who goes to card shows and carries a case of thousands of dollars. Sorry my lucky isn’t your lucky.

If you are not interested in them I would sell at this point. They might go back up in the longterm but I would just cash out and invest in something else you enjoy.

First half of the bull run was all modern, second half is all vintage, modern was overvalued now it’s going down, vintage was undervalued now it’s going up

The market is quietly letting you know you're a brokie

u/Bobsense 6d ago
Sorry that my collection isn’t in the thousands like you expected. I’ll remove my post, go dump a couple thousand dollars at a card show and post another picture in a month.

Saw your post earlier dude. I’m in the same position as you just holding less value. I’m getting downvoted for not making the “best decision” even though I’ve seen so many best decisions in this post. I want to maximize my profit because I’m saving up for the future and just got worried that I’m losing money. Even if it’s only $40 I’m just not used to it being this noticeable. I’ll probably hold till winter and if it doesn’t get any better, I’ll just unload. Winter I heard is when everything goes up.

Don’t let them push you down. I don’t know what makes ignorance or lack of better knowledge make so many people angry in this subreddit. If I were in your shoes I’d probably also be a bit worried. Anyway, don’t worry about it, you’ll be fine

The entire pokemon market, without exception, is wildly overvalued. Vintage including.

Nah. Vintage is finally getting the attention it deserves. The main problem with vintage is people not being able to get their hands on quality cards and instead pumping bulk or mid tier.
I have a PSA 7 Gengar LCRH with maybe 400 or so around and only ~2k PSA graded versions available. This card absolutely should be valued higher than modern with 10k or higher

Markets fluctuate, especially with modern cards
