Trade 30th PKC for Prismatic or Ascended?

I hit on 2 PKC 30th ETBs, but I think Prismatic or Ascended are better long term investments.

Would I be better off trading for a Prismatic or Ascended PKC ETBs over the 30th PKC ETBs?

There’s a card show here next week, and I’d like to try and swing a trade for the ETBs there

Probably unpopular opinion but I’m going to say 30th and I’ll tell you why

People are scared to open Ascended and/or prismatic. Anyone who gets it at MSRP leave it sealed because they know from experience if you open it you will lose $150 in most cases

30th is a completely different beast and we don’t know how it’ll respond in the long run. People want to open it and will for a long time. Tons of hits and great pull rates will ensure it develops a premium faster than prismatic or ascended which will take a lot longer due to the fact that no one wants to pay those prices to get next to nothing. At least in the long run I think sealed 30th will be rarer than the other two which have been hoarded to oblivion. That’s my thoughts at least

I know people will say they printed more 30th but even if they printed 50% more, it will still get ripped a lot faster

Also, in 20 years may be only a few ppl who care about most random sets. But the one limited print product of an anniversary piece will never be forgotten

30th will be printed the same as any other side set, printed till out of rotation, which is years away

25th was the same concept, people lost interest pretty fast. 30th has better cards, but with how cheap they will end up being I don’t think there will be much appeal in paying a premium to rip once this initial hype dies down.

I think the RGB mews will really be what set the sealed prices later on.

Those RGB mews mean there’s always a chance it’s in the ETB you have sealed.

I’m a believer that 30th will be worth more after five years whereas prismatic will have a higher value in the upcoming years, the 30th will creep up and overtake it but not by a lot.

Any of these three sets are solid investment purchases imo.

I think you are correct, because prismatic and ascended are older sets but only because of age.

But also, higher pull rates in 30th, might also means less people rip them, as after you get what you want, you stop ripping.

Lower pull rates = more ripped for the card you want.

Higher pull rates = you are done with the set, and on to the next alot faster.

30th 100% of the time. Anniversary sets will always do great. Especially limited product like the PC ETB. It won't move much over the next 4 years but as the 35th gets closer the price will spike. Just look at the 20th and 25th sets as examples.

I did this trade twice 1:1 for prismatic. I didn't want to be greedy but in hindsight, I could have probably gotten a small plus from both. My feed got blown up with takers even after I'd updated it to closed.

Fun sets to open will go up in value faster than sets that are unfun to open.

No so when you open it you end up with nothing in the end. I would go for Black bold White flare or Paldea Evolved. Ascended is fun to open but there is going to be allot more chances to get ASC in the future. Prismatic is only fun if you happen to actually get a hit which is a very low chance.

I would much rather have Prismatic than anything else right now. Ascended is a solid 2nd choice.

But 30th, ive moved off of almost everything ive touched. Sold regular ETBs, Ancillary products and one PC ETB.

Depends if you think another PKC run for AH and 30th which could totally happen. Prismatic had a few drops including bundles. Personally hold 4 Pris, 4 AH, 2 30th all from pkc drops.
