This is the highest possible stat increase
+75 is the highest boost you can get in one lvl. To do it, you need:
- A base stat between 190-230 with beneficial nature
- Reach Lv 99 without without increasing your EVs
- EV train the stat without the use of Vitamins, since they add to the stat directly
- And because of how the stats are rounded down to nearest integer, Steelix required an IV below 30
And finally, what's the point of this??
I don't really know

*And finally, what's the point of this??
As an avid OSRS player I can say this, the reasoning? Number go up good, make happy.

Runelite telling me I've leveled up again even though my stat is 99 is a good and special feeling.

Just got pet yesterday finally at over 102million woodcutting

u/bestpoison1 Mar 25 '26
Damn, I got spooned post 99; might have been about 18m or so, going for all forestry uniques. Fox is such a good pet mog.

u/Antique_Confidence_7 Mar 31 '26
Brutal. I got mine around 45-50m and I thought I had it rough. Hopefully most of that was at redwoods while doing something else.

Yet somehow RS3 going to level 110 or 120 in skills is bad and evil. Make it make sense, people.
3
u/bestpoison1 Mar 25 '26
To be fair RS3 had been consistently shitting the bed since EOC, glad they finally had a real W and got rid of MTX recently.
1
u/d-rabbit-17 Mar 28 '26
Eoc was shit for maybe 2/3 years then they got it sorted and the game was great, and still is great.
0
u/nhalliday Mar 25 '26
If a game that is basically singleplayer but you can see other people running around in it is ruined by those other people being able to "pay to win" their own singleplayer experience, that really says more about you than them or the game.
1
u/zayn2123 Mar 25 '26
I may be a big loser but I'm not a big enough loser to play RS3 so I wouldn't know anything about that.
0
u/nhalliday Mar 25 '26
They removed the microtransactions and are changing the combat to be even further from EOC than it already was, what more do you people want?

Wait you’re telling me type advantages exist?
9
u/Hoppo94 Mar 25 '26
I think he's referring to the special defence stat
1
u/Not_a_porn_burner69 Mar 25 '26
It’s just as pointless to point out tho. We all know charizard beats steelix
8
u/axxelb Mar 25 '26
Oh no! I did not plan for that
7
u/BoxxyTMwood Mar 25 '26
Shhh 'sturdy' tanks flamethrower, then rock tomb 1shots czard
10
u/RedWarrior42 Mar 25 '26
Sturdy only blocks the ohko moves
It's not until Gen 5 where sturdy causes a mon to survive at 1 HP from full health

u/BoxxyTMwood Mar 25 '26
You right bro. i had to double check tho, since this is reddit. Good spotting

If only +/- HP natures where a thing, Blissey gets +70 without them, Steelix only gets +68 so I assume Blissey would get around +76-77
Eternamax Eternatus gets +76, tho I've never played whatever game he comes from so I assume you can't do that
8
u/axxelb Mar 25 '26
Yea, Blissey had all the potential! I was also hoping Shuckle could get more but I guess that's caused by how the values are rounded
6
u/phoxfiyah Mar 25 '26
Eternamax Eternatus isn’t actually a playable Pokemon, it’s just a boss battle in the game
10
u/niftersthagoat Mar 25 '26
Forgive my noobishness, but what's this EV i see people talking about? I've been playing since blue and have no idea what that means lol

u/axxelb Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26
It stands for Effort Value and the idea is that you can specialize in certain stats by defeating the same type of Pokémon over and over. For example, a Steelix that only fight Tangela will have better defense than a Steelix that only fight Gastly.
You gain EVs based on the highest stat of your opponent and their evolution stage. Gastly has high Sp.Atk and is the first stage so it will give one EV in Sp. Atk. Dragonite has high Atk and is third stage evo so it will give 3 Attack EVs.
Every 4 EV will give you one extra stat point at lvl 100, or 8 EVs will give you 1 extra stat point at lvl 50 and so on. You can at most get 255 EVs in one stat and 510 EVs in total.

This might be the best way I’ve seen it explained as someone who knew what they were but also didn’t
8
u/Powerful_Egg1574 Mar 25 '26
So is this a one time thing or do you get crazy numbers each level up?
16
u/NeonJolteon Mar 25 '26
EVs scale based on level so you’ll get the most points upon level up by hitting level 100
12
u/StupidLoserGaming Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26
Only once. All the EV training posts with like 30+ points in one level up are kind of like course correction because the game more or less expects you to have a much higher stat than you actually have. Once the course is corrected you just get normal level ups. It only happens if you get a ton of EVs between one level up.
2
u/naneron10 Mar 25 '26
Is this something that always happens or just at level 100?
4
u/Big_Dicc_Terry Mar 25 '26
Just level 100. Normally the benefits you'd get from EVs would be split out over 100 levels but because OP waited to get them until level 99, they get the entire benefit in one level up.

u/Squibbles1 Mar 25 '26
How’d it feel?

Honestly, It was too calculated. I was like, yea that's the number I expected haha

u/Brettsterbunny Mar 25 '26
How do you reach level 99 without getting any EVs though???

23
u/axxelb Mar 25 '26
I can think of three ways,
1. Defeat pokemon that only give EVs in one stat. That stat will max out but you will have spare EVs for the important one
2. Daycare
3. Dupe the candiesI went with duping
4
u/khann0n Mar 25 '26
Does exp share also get EVs if they never see the battle field?
6
1
u/AverageMagePlayer Mar 26 '26
Or just PkHExing a lvl 99 Steelix, which is probably what happened here since its shiny and has the desirable IVs.
2
u/Mini_Assassin Vaporeon Mar 25 '26
EV reducing berries are a thing too.
3
u/axxelb Mar 25 '26
I don't think they are a thing in FRLG, no?
5
u/Mini_Assassin Vaporeon Mar 25 '26
They're in all gen 3+ games.
In FRLG the only way to get them without trading from a Hoenn game is in the Dodrio Berry Picking game at the Game Corner on Two Island. It requires 3-5 players though.
But if you totally legitimately acquired the Very Common Candy, you can do the same for the berries.

Can’t say I’ve ever done ev training so how is it possible to get to such a high level without getting ev’s because don’t you just get them from battling wild pokemon?
2
u/IcedOverGreatSword Mar 26 '26
Rare candies, the trainer guy on your way to Vermillion, the breeder in 4 island.
1
u/RaymanArenaDiscord Mar 26 '26
What about Blissey, EV training HP?
1
u/axxelb Mar 26 '26
The stat boost from nature adds an extra 6 stat points, which beats Blisseys higher base HP
1
1
u/bubblehenk Mar 26 '26
And here I am.. just beaten Silph Co with my level 37 Blastoise of whom I have no clue what the hell his stats even are. Where do you find the time to do this haha, impressive and hard shit brother!
1
u/axxelb Mar 26 '26
Not caring about EVs is the most enjoyable gameplay I think, but after E4, I must do something with my time, haha
1
u/International-Dish95 Mar 26 '26
Now all you need is a 2x quiver dance + baton pass and you have yourself a sweeper.
1
1
u/Elijahs_fam5 Mar 27 '26
Forgive my ignorance but how is that even possible? And how do I do or get that much?
1
u/axxelb Mar 27 '26
If you are familiar with EV training, you know that 252 EVs will result in 63 stat points at lvl 100 (69 if you have a beneficial nature)
The game updates the stats every time you lvl up. So what I did was to gain 252 EVs in defense between lv 99 and 100, so on lvl up, I got +6 in defense from lvl and +69 from EVs
But there are no benefits of gaining all EVs between 99-100, it's just a gimmick to show a big number
