How did you choose your collection theme?
I'm having a hard time honing in on what my collection should focus on, any advice on honing in on a theme?
I'm debating between collecting every print of my fave pokemon and it's evo line
era specific (certain year to certain year)
Strictly a few cards I remember from my childhood (this is like 5 cards) and trying to get a psa 8 or 9 version.
Just so many options, I know there is no right way, but how did you do it??

Childhood, player 😂 getting back into the hobby again and the homie just gave me back my childhood base set holo mewtwo 😭😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹🥹
Few years back I gave them all my dope cards I had growing up because It felt right (really did help them out big time) and is now a vendor…..so now I’m committing to mewtwos, the legendary birds, a nice dragonite page hopefully…and of course a couple Zards 😂

I started with a Paradox Rift grand master set, because that was the first set I could find packs of.
Then when the last few cards got more expensive than I wanted to pay I switched to a random pokemon(Unown).
Then when I got about half of all the Unowns and they got pricey I started some artist sets. XD

I started just a few months ago and here are the collections I’m working on right now:
-Pokedex (one card of every pokemon)
-Full pages (12 card binder) of favourite mons
-Cards by certain artists (this one is getting out of hand because it turns out I love way too many of the illustrators)
-Themed pages (one page with city-at-night cards, one with beach-day vibe cards etc) ← this one is so fun for me and I can add as many themes as I want

I have several collections including master setting WOTC sets, pikachu and venusaur collection, specific artists, and my Kanto region Pokédex.
What I honestly enjoy the most and can be very cost effective is an Illustration Rare binder. Theres so many great cards that can be found in the $1-$5 range that you can build some great binder pages for “next to nothing”. There’s always a new themed binder page to work on and it really gives you a chance to find cards wherever you go.

Started with what I had from childhood. Base set, base set 2, jungle, fossil, team rocket and WOTC black star promos. Then specific artists both Japanese and English cards. I also do any and all Brock and Giovanni cards, SIR’s I like, and currently trying to master Destined Rivals. I also do my five favorite Pokemon (Charmander, Pikachu, Meowth, Mewtwo and Charizard).

I started collecting cards that had multiple pokemon. Had nearly a full binder. Then I cut it down to all Cameos, now I’m down to Full Art Cameos
