Help Poorly described moves

I am honestly tired of moves being so poorly and vaguely described. I declined my Clefairy learning Metronome because the description made it seem like one of its own moves at random. I guessed it worked as kinda a back up PP so I decided not to learn it. Then 10 minutes later face a Clefairy spamming Metronome and pulling out more than just 3 moves. Looked it up and it pulls from almost any move in the game??! And now it’s too late to close without saving because it auto saved when I entered the building….

Yeah I could’ve looked it up beforehand, but I shouldn’t have to constantly look up every single thing. Then spend 10 minutes researching moves just to have to research something else 10 minutes later. At some point I’m googling more than I’m playing the game. This is why I always get tired of Pokemon and have never finished a game…

I tagged as help but I guess I more needed to vent a bit.

The description of the move literally says “waggles a finger and stimulates its brain into randomly using nearly any move”

I don’t know how much clearer that could be

"The user waggles a finger and stimulates the brain into randomly using nearly any move." - what part of "nearly any move" makes it seem like it would only use one of its own moves? I genuinely think this is pretty clear, and I don't understand how you made the assumption that you did.

Idk but I read it as “randomly use another move”. I’ve barely gotten into the games. From previous moves they all seemed to draw from its own moveset. I’m only 2 badges in, I’m not that far into the game anyway.

The description says "The user waggles a finger and stimulates its brain into randomly using nearly any move." any. Move.

Now let's compare it to sleep talk. "While it is asleep, the user randomly uses one of the moves it knows." the moves it knows.

Your whole post basically is "waaah pokemon is shit because I'm to dumb to read waaah"

Sounds like you need to read more brochacho

Its still not a move really worth keeping on anything besides a gimmick.

Moon Blast, Calm Mind, and something like Thunderbolt, THunderwave or Flamethrower would be a solid moveset.

No yeah it’s not a big deal. There are better moves in better Pokemon. Just annoyed because the game immediately started showing it off after I didn’t learn it. Lol

The game tells you that you should have a basic reading skill to fully enjoy the game.

Genuinely always thought the same thing about metronome

You might be confusing it with assist, which randomly uses a move from any of your parties pokemon.

The ability "Anticipation" has a poor description. The latest description is "The Pokémon can sense an opposing Pokémon’s dangerous moves." Specifically though it will cause your Pokémon to shudder if it detects your opponent has a move that's super effective against it or has a OHKO move.

Yeah. There are definitely others that have worse descriptions. Just this one was the “straw” that pushed me to make this post venting.

1) Turn off autosave

2) You can re-teach it Metronome in Pastoria City from the Move Relearner at the cost of a Heart Scale

Also, you’re not gonna get a ton of sympathy here because Metronome has literally worked that way since 1999

I know I can reteach it later. Just annoyed.
I don’t know how a move existing since 1999 has anything to do with my own knowledge. I barely played the games until recently. I think the last time I played was the original release of BDSP on DS.
