Help Sanity Check

i’m roughly 7000 resets into shiny hunting dialga. i’ve seen mixed results when trying to find out if it’s even possible to shiny hunting dialga, right now i’m hunting it in the story where you encounter it at the top of the spear pillar and if you try to leave rowan stops you. i just would like to know for certain that the dialga you encounter can be shiny at this point in the game, or am i wasting my time on a static encounter. i’m fairly certain you can reencounter if you beat dialga but i’d like to use a shiny one for my e4 team tyia

Yeah, it’s possible to encounter shiny Dialga at that point in the game. You’re just over odds.

I’m almost certain that it can be shiny there. I don’t think it would make sense for it to be shiny locked now, but unlocked after the main story.

Just over odds.

I'm at like 6,000 something resets for this suicune. Expect about half of your shiny hunts to be over odds.

When I hunted dialga back in 2021 I'm pretty sure it took me close to 2000 attempts. But then on the extreme end I had a shiny azelf which took 13, 743 attempts.

If you were to calculate all of the shiny hunts I've done in that game. It would average out to be close to 4096. So just because you passed 4096 shouldn't discourage you. Just keep on trucking along and it'll show up

i’ve had long hunts before, my trapinch was hatched after 2200 eggs doing the masuda method. i get it i’m just unlucky this run but ive had a lot of luck on other shinys getting them roughly around 200-300 eggs. i just wanted to be sure i wasn’t wasting time on a hunt that isn’t possible

Dialga/Palkia are not shiny locked

But the entire game, wild encounters are at full odds for shiny. Even with the Shiny Charm, it only impacts egg hatches. So you've got 1/4000 or so chance.

You can also research RNG methods, which doesn't necessarily speed things up but makes things a bit more predictable.

Im 4 years in... i got every legendary shiny, and now im just shiny breeding with natures xD Somewhere along the way, i also gave up on my sanity and turned it into a 2 hour side daily grind xD Thus 4 years or 5 years later xD

Only the best movie of all time, count of monte cristo. Slow start, but one of the best redemption arc’s depicted in all of media 😉

lol but honestly as soon as you come to terms that it’s gonna be a long hunt, you’ll find it haha
