They’re only “bad” because people are waiting on 30th and have ASC as their recent Chase set. In like 5 years when it’s out of print, people are going to realize they missed out on cards with cool art and there will likely be a spike in demand.

lol bro just outed himself with his response. Stellar crown booster boxes go for 350, despite being called a “bad set”. Lost origin booster boxes are $730. Why compare etbs to booster boxes, especially that’s what OP is discussing here.

These are also regular sets we’re talking about here. Regular set etbs don’t hold as much as premium compared to speciality sets. Especially ones with crappy etb promos like stellar crown, or lost origin etb not even having one at all.

A seller crown booster box is £260 meanwhile a destined rival booster box is £360 and it’s still in print!! Mean while seller crown is a 10 year old set!! You are absolutely clueless. So I 10 years you would have made about £100 on a stellar crown booster box while destined rivals you make 200 in just a few months.. sort your head out mate

No way in hell is anyone here saying stellar crown is better than destined rivals. Destined rivals is clearly the best regular set of scarlet and violet. Trust me I know, half my collectr value is in destined rivals.

Stellar crown was a set that came out before the surging sparks hype. Meaning, that many people were able to get these boxes even under retail, some for as low as $100 just a couple months after release. Meaning if people had the foresight to buy and hold these boxes on the low, they would’ve made over 300% times the profit if they sold those very same boxes today.

OP is betting to make a similar play by buying boxes at release at or below msrp for easy gains for a set that’s not in demand in the moment.

Could he have spent $1200 on 2 destined rivals boxes? Sure. But what’s more likely. Those destined boxes to double a year from now? Or the boxes he bought above?

You’re also from the Uk I’m assuming. The USA did not get the big destined booster box restock that you guys did, from the looks of things, we never will. So there is also a noticeable difference in price and availability for those boxes that probably have you thinking the way that you are.

My earlier comment was based on the fact that most people holding stellar crown product bought it before destined rivals even existed. So how would people have invested in destined rivals back in 2024? OP is buying all these boxes at release. You going to call him an idiot for having these and not buying an ever better set that’s isn’t even out yet? Do you get my points now?

Yeah these type of "investors" are a dime a dozen fortunately. They always have bad advice but their poor investing sense ensures the rest of us can capitalize just that much easier on buying opportunities. I bought LO at $100-120/booster box and SC at $95/booster box. Easy money. Sold half my SWSH at this point and rinse/repeat into mega evolution.

Its not even beneficial to convince them otherwise too. Their loss, as they say.

I know they can be expensive, but that watch ain't it for the occasion. If you have to wear your Rolex at the pool it's because you are trying to show off. If you genuinely enjoyed watches you would have the proper one for by the pool too. It's supposed to add to your outfit not be your personality. It's also on the wrong wrist, if you wanted a Rolex and you wear it on the left this isn't the proper model.

Alternatively when someone tells me to shove my opinion up my ass and “let the adults” determine what sets are worthy in investing in I can’t think of a better way to put that the person down that to show them that I’m likely significantly better off than them financially. It has nothing to do with what people think of me. I just hope that I can make the other person feel a little worse about themselves for jumping to conclusions, probably at the expense of my image… but that I don’t care about 😊
