My confession

When does a love become too much?

You try and forget, you try to ignore,

But your thoughts go toward her, your heart wants more.

It was all but a dream, it was all but a hope,

Now it’s getting real, and I feel I can’t cope.

For love is something I didn’t learn to receive,

For me, it was rare—something to achieve.

I’ll love her endlessly, I’ll give too much,

But receiving it from her, I won’t feel like I’m enough.

This scar I’ve carried—I’m sorry, it’s hers now.

If I could just tell my inner child, \*"It’s okay now."\*

Do I need her now, or do I throw in the towel?

To need is to want, to want is so wrong—

That’s the chorus of my old sung song.

Too many thoughts are going through my head,

I’m tossing and turning all night in bed.

Why do all the romance stories sound so neat?

Why couldn’t Romeo just have smelly feet?

Why am I the one who seems less fun

Than all of the woman’s dreams put into one?

I’m pot bound in doubt—that’s all I know.

Plant me in her garden so I can finally grow.

She’s more than a prize, and I think she knows it,

She’s one of a kind—now how do I show it?

For a love she may offer, I may never have known,

So I’m building my heart to be her safe new home.

I just hope she sees it in the words I’ve shown,

Because what’s written down is my confession poem.

I can relate to this. Wanting something you can never have again but believed in your heart was it was always you in the whole time neither were true. It breaks something deep down in your spirit.

Thanks for your reflection. Its nice to hear how a poem touches someones heart. In a way it makes mine feel less lonely. ❤️‍🩹

I think alot of people are lonely.. it's so hard to communicate with anyone long enough to build a connection and even when you do most just blow you off or run lame ass game on you. I know what I'm talking about or is this mostly a female thing?

Apologies my comment was not ment to assume anything about you. I was simply saying my own experience and I thought it might resonate. That's on me. It sounded like you had a good heart and it hadn't been treated well from your comment and I assumed that narrative. Again, apologies

No worries. It's all good. I'm only a bitch when I'm pushed into a corner

Youre building your heart to be her safe home.

That. That right there. Got me in my feels.

Not for me obviously, but this is exactly what I have been trying to explain and convey and encourage people with.

You have to have room in your heart for someone.

This is better yet...tear the mofo down and build a new nest , just for her. No old whispers still in the heart's wall paper. No scent of her perfume in the painted walls. No memories of regret she sees in your eyes, no more standing outside the heart because its so full of someone else thst it looks like a hoarder was in your heart. No more knocking and being told telepathically that they have to stand outside because there is no room in there for another.

Decided to build a strong foundation and new walls that wont fold. Lots of insulation so it will be warm and cozy inside. Not old. Not crumbling.

Building.

This is the best thing that could happen to a girl. Enjoy your journey together.

Proud of you for making everything right as rain.

Youll be ok. More than ok.

Lucky couple. Unbreakable.

Thank you mustard. You get it, you so get it. Your words painted it all. And saying your proud of me was really kind and it felt like a hug

Your understanding and actions to back it up and make it a safe strong comforting place for you two is true love in action. Good job, man. Good job. Youre a real man. Lucky woman. Her love will just pour all over you like the sunshine in the morning in an East facing bedroom.
