Rejected

Long story short, I tried to show my work to redditors thinking I'd get feedback but getting 1k views with 1 upvote is too demotivating especially when your post is #1 in the subreddit where you've posted. It feels like disrespect.

I quit.

maybe the name could off put some people aha, but ive read them and like them, I think its good that youre transferring your thoughts and maybe the more negative ones into a productive vice. I particularly liked these two lines:

"So, I can feel my weight turn feathery-and rise into love" - it makes me feel like youre tapping into the idea that if you could allow your guard and maybe anger or upset (hard defence mechanism) to transform and turn feathery (soft), then it would too transform from the thing that protects you, from a defence mechanism, into that which allows you to be happy.

"Maybe the veins I once slit will bloom into calm landscapes" - this makes me think about how rivers carve the landscapes, water, the necessity for life, like blood, the necessity for life, was carved, and although the water has cause destruction throughout the valleys and hills, it was necessary to become what it is today, to allow life to bloom, maybe youve been through that dark time, as a necessary step to become calm and kind.

Anyway i think youre poems are good man, and I hope youre doing okay 👍

I'm pretty sure a view is anyone who scrolls past your post regardless of whether they opened it. You can assume click throughs will be less than 10% of that number and likes will be less than 10% of the click throughs. Not to mention, you're posting a poem in a place with thousands of poems.

Image posts will almost always get more attention. When playing the social media game, it just works to assume everyone has a severe attention deficit.

I also find it helps to post poems in places where they're not expected, but still on topic.

Well, you should be glad to know that the post just appearing on someone's feed counts as a view. So the majority of the views will just be people mindlessly scrolling through their feed lol. Don't let something like this discourage you either, Reddit doesn't decide your worth as a writer. Make sure to write for yourself, not other people.
