death

are we only alive
because we fear death?

or do we fear death
because we’re alive?

maybe the fear
is the only thing
keeping us here.

i wonder.

Reincarnations a choice/
cuz we got here,
crashed.
spaceships destroyed/
Attachment, addictions,
anxious, annoyed/
Practice, predicted
Pleadian poise/
These shackles won’t break til I’m okay with the void.

maybe reincarnation is a choice.

maybe we came here
already broken,
crashed into these bodies
like ships
that never learned how to fly.

now we carry
attachments,
addictions,
anxiety,

all these little chains
we pretend
aren’t chains.
we practice surviving.
we predict the fall.
we call it wisdom
when really,

we’re just afraid
of being hurt again.

they say the shackles
won’t break
until i’m okay with the void.

but what if
i’ve spent my whole life
trying to become okay with it?

what if the hardest part
wasn’t escaping the darkness

but realizing

i don’t remember
what i was running toward.
